Why is it when I decide to give the PS3 a chance for gaming I am disappointed?

Either simply buy some games and play them or just sell it.

The point of the thread is to express the anger I am having for waiting for demos to install. This is seriously annoying. Ratchet and Clank is still installing at 22%. PS3 is freakin lame,

So after nearly 30 minutes it's only at 22%? That sounds very odd, it's never taken anywhere near that long for me.

So having a short USB cable to charge your controller (which was your fault anyways) was almost a reason to stop playing the PS3 and go over to the 360? Way to give the PS3 a chance, man. I feel bad that you won't be able to be patient enough to play some excellent games on that platform. To each his/her own I guess.

EDIT: While the 22% install is a bit unusual, the demo is fairly large, and depending on if you put in a new HDD in the PS3 or not it might take a bit longer to install the game.

probably because the hype has created an impossible level of expectation down inside you that will never be satisfied. and because it's not as well designed for social experiences as the 360 is.

The game downloaded pretty fast which was nice, definatley on par with Xbox Live. But this installing crap is where the Xbox simply reigns over the PS3.

Yeah, I find the download speed pretty good, about the same as XBL. The install crap is one thing I'd like to see Sony do away with.

Downloads are definitely quicker on XBL for bigger files, like demos. Anyways, I say to just give it another chance to impress you.

Ha, that was what was included in the box. Sony's fault, not mine.

Perhaps, but you could also sit on the floor and play the PS3 instead of on the couch -- not to mention if you suddenly decided to play the PS3 after a length of time of not using the controller it would make sense that the controller would lose charge, if not completely drain from lack of use.

Did you not read the post earlier? It downloaded fast, its the INSTALL that is slow. Has nothing to do with ISP. And yes, the 360 is that good that I have never bothered with the PS3 for gaming except for Resistance when I first got it.

He listed one fault which is abnormal. Demo installs are usually a couple minutes. Aside from that, no he hasn't given the PS3 a chance for GAMING, at all, as he stated in the OP

Yes, the 360 downloads demo's that are ready to go as soon as the download is completed but the PS3 needs to run a lengthy install first. Another problem I find is that while I can try out any arcade game on the 360 before deciding to purchase I am unable to try out the Arcade PS3 games and have to just buy them blindly hoping I like them. The playstation store does make me appreaciate the xbox store a whole lot more.... I do prefer PS3 talking money than the strange microsoft points system that hides the actual cost of games though so they got that bit right :)

Well, if something has to fail, you're lucky if it's the hard drive. You can just buy a new one and install it yourself without getting reamed by Sony to the tune of $160 (out of warranty.) Anywyay, if you are having a hard drive problem, I would back up all my critical data (saved games etc.) IMMEDIATELY. My PS3 just died, but it was a long, drawn out gradual process that didn't occur all at once. So definately back up your stuff, and have a look at laptop hard drives. You could end up with a huge HD for a lot less than you'd have to pay Sony to repair it (once again, out of warranty.)

I was so disappointed with the first one I am not even considering the second one. Why is that game hyped so much? Is it the lack of FPS on the PS3. It's average at best.

You can blame the developers of the games for that -- it is not up to Sony for putting a "try before you buy" version of an arcade game on PSN. It is up to the developers to do that. A couple of the arcade games have that option of trying it out first but they are starting to become few recently. Whether that changes or not depends on the developers' mindsets and user feedback.

One issue I have with the PS3, that seems random, is downloading updates... I can't play Resistance 2 or LittleBigPlanet online until I download the updates, but it sits at 0% or 1% and doesn't move up at all. While updates almost instantly download on my 360... Still haven't had success getting the updates installed either. I know that I can do it with a USB(at least I think I can...) just have not gotten around to it...

Actually no, you can blame Sony. Microsoft requires a demo, and Sony doesn't. Same with custom soundtracks... Sony let's the developers add it if they want (they don't want) and Microsoft says "We have a standard and you must adhere to it to sell products with us." I preffer Microsoft's standards, but then again, I'm not a game developer.

Different strokes for different folks. There are people who did the exact thing w/ 360 and had the same results. It's all about personal preference.

OP, I know when I had a 360, Gears wasn't not even close to a 9.6 game and it disappointed me with enemies getting stuck on walls and open door ways that weren't passable, so ease up on R2. Also the 360 old dash board anyway was very laggy when switching blades to find what was hidden in that mess. Also the old market place was just horrible to find games and to navigate through it compared to the ease of use the ps store has had now for quite sometime. The 360 also has its optical audio built onto the cable assembly and not onto the mother board of the 360. Also when unpackaging the 360 to see those AA batteries fall out felt very nostalgic to say the least lol. If the 360 impressed you then, the ps3 should be blowing your mind lol.

Downloads are about the same for each, install is the only difference really so either one your not going to be playing the demo right when you decide to download it so chill and relax and grab a sandwich while your waiting lol.

And the controller really doesn't take that long to charge, prolly would have been charged by the time the demo downloaded if not sooner, and also you can always do like me and use your usb cord on your cable box's usb slot. That way it is always charging and don't have to worry about keeping your ps3 on to charge it when needed, which my ps3 has stayed on months at a time with no issues:) Also the controller being dead, well was only your fault lol, and it would take me ages to find batteries or maybe run to the store if I had a 360 to buy batteries for if it died lol, so feel good it was nothing but plugging in a usb cable:)

P.S I loved that howard cossell head set aswell with the dog leash attached, I almost lost a ear from throwing my controller lol.

I know that I can do it with a USB(at least I think I can...) just have not gotten around to it... rolo107
Perhaps it's a port-forwarding issue. If you're using a router, either put the PS3 in the DMZ, or go to www.portforward.com to learn how to open up the proper paths for the PSN to communicate with your PS3.

[QUOTE="donalbane"] Actually no, you can blame Sony.

Just because Sony is giving the developers a choice of whether or not to have the demo out before the game does not mean you can blame them. Whether or not this is a smart move or not is irrelevent in this discussion, but to force developers to bring out a demo which may delay production on the full game or not portray the statement of what the game is intended to portray doesn't seem like a great decision. It is up to the developer if they want to send the word out on their game, not the company whose platform the game is on.

Buy a longer usb cable, and 20 minutes seems kinda far fetched. But your complaint is there are no games and you did not talk about playing a single game, so you seem to be hopeless.

[QUOTE="rp108"]It's about a gig and a half, I can't imagine full game installs.shadow_hosi
lol installing games, that is just more proof that consoles are trying to be PCs

I love it, consolites are dealing with everything on consoles that they thought was originally the problem with PC gaming. Installing demos and DLC(Patches/expansions).
