It's pretty lame that you have to install demos after you download them, assumign you find a game that HAS a demo before you buy it. Sony should be giving free ahrd drive updates and making 1 TB the new standard with being forced to install every game/demo you get. I prefer the standards set by MS for their cosnole (towards developers), so unify custom sound tracks, and achievements, and demos... that jsut amkes sense. Sony's product is all over the palce with standards. Infact it has none, developers can do whatever theyw ant, its NOT a pc, its a console. They try to pass it off as a PC but it sux as a pc and it sux as a console, so what does that make the PS3? Its a mess.Phazevariance

as for installing demos, you have to do that on a pc as well. having demos? thats always been up to the dev and not the platform. if MS wants to force it, then thats their perogative. custom sound tracks? might be good but i could care less personally, although i am an audiophile and usually the music for a game enhances it and doesn't detract from it. achievements? again, i could care less. demo's? meh, again, its so-so there for me. i've found demos don't usually do a game justice (FF 12 was a good example of this imo)
What the hell is with all these low levels bashing ps3 lately:?
If these are ban-dodging accounts, you can't get banned for bashing systems in system wars (amazing right?)
This thread is hilarious, simply because some of the people trying to combat the OP's post say go buy games, it's funny because he will go buy the game put it in and then he will STILL have to install it anyways. Anyone saying the installs only take three minutes either has no concept of time or is just blatantly lieing to themselves. I own a ps3 and a 360 and I must say the install thing is total BS.
EDIT: It would make it worthwhile if installing it made it load faster but it doesn't.

Sorry, jsut because you could 'care less' doesnt mean that what MS is doing is wrong. PS3 is a console, not a PC, you should NOT have to install everything jsut to make it fucntion. Thats only done because of some flaw they can't get around in the hardware. Otherwise, streaming from the bluray disc would be possible, as well as not having to install demos. Call me a fanboy if you want, but the fact is PS3 is a messy console. They couldnt decide to make it a mvoie player, a PC, or a console. So they attempted to make it all 3, and failed at 2 of them. Its not quite a PC and its not quite a console, it has the bad featuers of both. BUT it makes a good movie player, which is about all it's worth, seeign as the price is so high. This thread is hilarious, simply because some of the people trying to combat the OP's post say go buy games, it's funny because he will go buy the game put it in and then he will STILL have to install it anyways. Actually most PS3 games HAVE NO INSTALLS... of the games I own, I can only think of 2 that have mandatory installs. Not only that but installing, has been stated on several multiplatform games, to improve load times compared to the 360 version eg. DMC4. I'm not defending installs at all either because frankly I hate them too. But you're completely overblowing the issue and showing your fanboy bias.
In regards to the installation of the R&C demo... all I can say is you've either got a faulty HDD or your BSing because it literally took me around 5 mins to get that demo installed and working.
[QUOTE="rp108"]The point of the thread is to express the anger I am having for waiting for demos to install. This is seriously annoying. Ratchet and Clank is still installing at 22%. PS3 is freakin lame,Floppy_JimSo after nearly 30 minutes it's only at 22%? That sounds very odd, it's never taken anywhere near that long for me. same demos usually install quickly. Heck I haven't had a full game take that long on me for ages. Anyone else notice that R2 and lbp installed in like a min
I agree, you have some valid complaints. I actually can't find the usb cord for the DS3 but luckily I could use my cell's usb cord but that one is even shorter. So I can't plug and play unless I'm like inches away from the TV. Also yeah, compared to XBL, downloading things off the PSN takes longer and that's a fact. Maybe it's because the PSN files are larger or it's just PSN itself, it takes long to download and then you have to install afterwards.
Sure they have demos for you to try but I recommend renting some games. Rent LBP if you have the chance. And since you mostly use your PS3 as a blu ray player, you should download the MGS4 demo and check it out.
no idea has great exclusives. I play my PS3 so much now because of all the great games my xbox has not been turned on in a month.First, I have not used my PS3 for any games since I bought it in January 08, it only gets powered up for movies. Today I decided to try out some demos since the endless ranting and raving from the Sony diehards had me curious. Well, my controller battery was dead so I have to charge that but unfortunatley the USB cable isn't long enough to reach the couch, So now I am waiting for that to charge (already inching over to boot the 360 up) while I am browing the store. The store since last time I saw has been improved big time so that was nice, I found some demos and started downloading them. Ratched and Clank demo finished so I started that up. For over 20 minutes it has been "installing".Not a good start...
