Why is KZ: SF multiplayer 60fps/1080p, but BF4 is limited to 720p/60fps?

I could understand if BF4's visuals were a lot better than KZ:SF for the reason why EA opted for 720p to maintain 60fps, but from what I've seen BF4 doesn't look technically better than KZ:SF visuals in multiplayer.  Is there something BF4 is doing on a higher technical level than KZ:SF?

DICE has like 5 platforms to program for they are devoting 100% of their time and resources to optimizing for a single platform.

Maybe it's the larger maps in BF4 or maybe it's the fact that BF4 is a multiplat and multiplats never fully use a system's power like exclusives do, who knows.

I mean if the PS4 version was in 1080p and the XB1 version was in 720p then that wouldn't put XB1 in a positive light and Microsoft would be mad.  It doesn't make sense why the PS4 is running at the same resolution as the XB1 version outside this theory.  I truly think the PS4 version could have been 1600x900p and maintain 60fps, but because of the XB1 EA decided to water the PS4 version down.

Devoting resources to 5 platforms, 64 vs 24 players, vehicles and more stuff happening on-screen. I'm not happy with 720p upscaled to 1080p at all, but it is lot better than what got last gen.

How about they are different games and do different things? BF has huge maps, vehicles, big players count. You can't possibly compare it with what killzone does. What killzone does is just look pretty.

Lets see 32 vs 32 mp with large levels with interaction(ie destruction of buildings etc) vs 12 vs 12.... The cpu and the gpu can only do so much.

Dice is more spread out and has to factor in destruction and vehicles....plus BF maps are huge

It doesn't make any sense that they are in the same resolution, especially since the PS4 version likely won't be running higher res textures than the XB1 version. Eurogamer already proved the PS4 could handle multiplats at a higher resolution than the XB1 versions while still maintaining a similar framerate.

Think its something to do with DICE having to make the game for 4 consoles, and the PC. Most of EA's games last gen were not ready for the 360 and PS3. DICE are probably playing it safe and going with 720p, as they would probably not have time to optimize for both new systems.

EA confirmed 720p/60fps via twitter.

You have to look at the fact that both consoles dont have strong cpu's and have mid ranged gpu's. BF 64mp with direct x 11 with high end assets is more demanding then killzone mp with 24mp with smaller maps and less things going on. The PS4 gpu is 7850 range gpu performance and that gpu cant get a steady 60 fps average at 1080 with BF3. BF4's graphics have been upgraded. 720/60fps is good for what is going on.

I just checked a link out and it looks like the PS4 version might indeed be running in a higher res than 720p.

Here is a quick quote of what they said.

LOL shut up. They will run circiles around pc's with similar specs.  There has also been no confirmation that BF4 runs in 720p on consoles.

Massive maps that blow away Killzone maps in size

Destruction from blowing up walls to destroying entire buildings

Physics

Particle effects

64 players

It's using AA

People really are overhying the power of these consoles, I'm not saying that won't deliver because they will and do a lot, but to have everything won't be possible, something has to go between resolution, framerate and technical graphics.

Killzone SF is looking like it's striving for nothing more than being a COD clone. It's just a pretty but kinda current gen game. Small player count, small contrived maps, no destruction... But I'm not saying that it wouldn't be enjoyable just that the game offers nothing I haven't seen like a thousand times already. 

I pre-ordered the Killzone SF though, so I hope it at least has a decent story single player since I'm not paying for online in a while, I never been much of an online guy. I much prefer the movie games you guys hate so much. I might start paying for PSN somewhere down the line when we get games I want to play online like the new Guilty Gear or something else. But yeah, we can all give our thanks to M$ and the filthy lems for that.

COD is still a very fun game, so KZ:SF being a better looking COD clone doesn't bother me. COD's gameplay just works. 20 million copies sold every year backs this up.

Did you noticed difference between SD and 720P (PS2 vs PS3 resolution?). Difference between 720p and 1080p is just as big. That being said, BF4 will be higher res than 720p. It just wont be 1080p.

as it stands if you squint your eyes and blur your vision, generally speaking a game will look more realistic.

 

if you cant master realistic graphics at 720p, there is no benefit to moving to 1080p. The sharper something that looks fake is, the more obvious its fake.

The answer is probably destruction and players count but that's not enough to be an excuse. 720p is inacceptable for something so called next gen.
