why is nobody compairing the ps3 to 360 this way

i wanna see a graph compairing the first 5 months sales of the xbox 360 vs the first 5 months of the ps3

i found somfor some reason paste isnt working for links

basicaly its compair console on vgcharts

usa

after first 5 months

xbox 360 just under 1.4million

ps3 approx 1.44million

japan

360 about 125 thousand

ps3 914 thousand

total for first 5 months

xbox 360 1,434.957

ps3 first 5 months 2,351.229

not sure how accurate these numbers are but they paint a different picture to the one of the ps3 being white washed by the 360

Oh, so because MS released their console too early and couldn't meet the same shipping quantities as Sony, the comparison isn;t fair???  How weak.  Lems use these figures all the time to try and prove 360 worthiness.  Saw it all the time a few months back before Sony had any time to prove anything.

Hate it when ppl say the xbox 360 had shortage. It's true but ppl forget it din't have any competition at the time, the ps3 has a higher price tag etc... So the ps3 actually has a bigger disadvantage but is still selling more...

He has a point.  I wanted a 360 and couldn't find one for months, but I saw a big stack of PS3s at my local Fry's 2 months ago...

You don't have to post since Lemmings will just avoid what you just said. Good point by the way. And subtract the defective Xbox 360s from the total sales of the console.

The PS3 did have a shortage of units at launch at least in the US (note that people were fighting over them).

Shortages are shortages, regardless of competition.  People forget that NOBODY could buy a 360 for months anyway.  Even those who preordered didn't get theirs until months after launch.  There weren't any consoles for people to buy- they were all preordered.  So it wasn't like people had a choice to wait.ZinkOxide

Actually, the way I understand it, NPD gets sales numbers from the stores that sell the consoles, so, the numbers NPD puts out (360 sold 10.4 million at the beggining of the year) are in fact customers walking out of the stores, Wal-Mart is apparently the only chain that doesn't report their sales.
