Well they are rehashes, but they are finely made RPGs. You know what your getting and the only reason people buy them is to start new and get the satisfaction of leveling up again. I think its addicting, they're rehashes but they're fun as hell. Very much the CoD of handhelds and RPGs but I actually like it.
Hmm honestly they are mostly rehashes. The core gameplay barely changes with each generation. Either way I just want a new pokemon 3d pokemon game. If it has to play like the others fine, but it would be awesome if it was very different with better balancing.
No one ever bashes Pokemon, it's kind of untouchable :|charizard1605Because we all loved pokemon when we were kids 8-12 years ago.
They haven't improved the games at all since Pokemon red, it still has same major flaws
They really should just reboot the series and fix all the annoying gameplay mechanics
Zurrur
What exactly are these flaws?

I loathed pokemon after gold silver and I hated how pokemon fans ripped on Digimon saying it was a Pokemon knock off (not true). Pokemon the show was terrible, I just liked the games (before ruby/saphire).
Pokemon should not get a free pass because of nostalgia, it is an outdated franchise.

Call of duty sells... Justin Beiber sells...
Why use sales as an assessment of quality. Eternal Darkness is one of the best Nintendo games and that did not sell very well from what I hear (well compared to other big N Ips).

Wha? Who's doing that?
The biggest innovation that the Pokemon series undertook from Red/Blue(1998) to White/Black(2011) was the breeding/genetics (granted that drasticly changed the way your Pokemon could train and how you could train them, what they could learn, how they grow)
BUT, when the games look, play, sound, feel so amazing familar being called either a rehash or yet another Pokemon title comes with the territory.

Nope we all do not... It has transformed from a differentiate RPG to a terribley stagnant franchise.
The anime was never any good and neither was anything else about pokemon besides the game. I mean Digimon you guys bash that but I loved its show and it was way better than pokemon. Digimon's movie was rated higher than pokemon's as well.

More people love Pokemon now than they did then. I fail to see what your point is. Just because you don't like Pokemon does not mean anything about the popularity of the franchise.I feel like Black and White were actually the best Pokemon games in a long time. Pokemon is far from stale.

Well, with that said, i guess it isn't a rehash then. Try not to contradict yourself.
We're talking about the game here. I think everyone knows that the anime is for children.

I am not saying pokemon is not a popular franchise just a stagnant stale one... Think Call of Duty.

It's a shame you have no way of proving that...
I love my pokemenz...but gotta be honest, I don't like how they release 2 versions, then wait a year and release the 'unified' edition with very little new features.
Also, animated battles should have been done in Platinum. Instead, 3 pokemon game series since then, and battles are still between 2d sprites, same with the battle effects.
And don't get me started on the voices of each pokemon, which are the same quality for older ones, literally copy-pasted from red/blue.
Anyway, back to breeding a decent sp.atk sweeper :P

Objectively know but I am sure if there was a way to track people who bought pokemon blue or red there would be many say a couple thousand who state displeasure with the stagnant nature of the franchise.
Lets face it, Pokemon is Dynasty warriors but has rabid support from being a Nintendo Ip.
[QUOTE="ActicEdge"][QUOTE="charizard1605"] Not many do, actually. Pokemon is a 'safe' franchise, and it's the premier handheld franchise. Most people who bash Pokemon for being stale also admit to not having played it since Gold/Silver, or are just to afraid of the stigma of playing something perceived as 'kiddy.'JohnF111
I've seen lots of people bash pokemon around here. Its hardly safe, it gets thrown in the "not evolving" category all the time by haters. Obviously anyone who plays them knows that's false but it doesn't change that it faces ignorance all the time.
I think it's more damage control "If CoD is stale then look at Pokemon, it hasn't changed at all a single bit, ever and it's milked to death because they have three versions of each generation which are no different and have no purpose other than to sell more copies!!". Just an example but you can see why whoever writes that nonsense is an idiot because the three games per generation serves the purpose of variety and to encourage one of the core mechanics the game provides, trading with friends and adding to the sense of achievement for collecting the entire library of pokemon. Just showing the example of the bashing i have mostly seen, in fact that's mostly the only example of bashing i've seen towards the series and is a half-baked argument. Bingo, the core mechnics will always stay the same, while features will be added and improved, so to speak.[QUOTE="el3m2tigre"]

How is it supposed to change? If you change the core gameplay, you alienate all of your fans, if you stay the same, your criticzied for being stagnant.Because they are mad they don't get RPG's as awesome as Pokemon.

Skyrim destroys pokemon, enjoy catching them all again next release... I mean 3 releases.
What do the shows have to do with the games? That's like criticizing a book because it had a bad film adaptation.Nope we all do not... It has transformed from a differentiate RPG to a terribley stagnant franchise.

And while the core gameplay stays the same, there's always huge changes in the combat system one way or another in every gen.

Im usually the first person to call sheep manchildren ... but the pokemon games are actually quite deep, there is a game within the game. A child does not understand element types and all that other stuff. Its a pretty deep game series.because Pokemon is for manchildren and children

Not to mention calculating EV's and IV. Searching for Natures which benefits a pokemon the most.
By the end of Diamond/Pearl, I just grew tired of it. Feels like every game is the same to be honest.
I lovePokemon Red to death though.

do people even play the SP nowadays ? I mean it was cool the first 4 times (Red/Blue, Yellow, G/S, R/S) but after that it just got tedious. I think everyone just uses Action Replay cheats to input EV stats then goes straight online.[QUOTE="charizard1605"]No one ever bashes Pokemon, it's kind of untouchable :|789shadow
Are you kidding? Any post about rehashes contains it by law.
Yeah, this. That goes with any of Nintendo's IP's that involve plumbers, an adventurer, a bounty hunter, and even an electric mouse. Very few Nintendo IP's avoid this backlash. If you don't consider Pokemon a rehash, you can't call any CoD game one. This should be an official rule of SW.
Basinboy
But then they can not have their double standards.

Only way to avoid it is to cross-breed the two IPs (much like SF and Capcom have done shamelessly for years) PokeCoD. Just caught myself a level 21 terrorist. It knows explode, sand-attack, and dig. It also was holding several perks and was pretty tricky to catch, but luckily I used my UGV until it's health was low and used my other CoD sequels to put it to sleep. Works every time. :P[QUOTE="el3m2tigre"]

Well, in a sense it does. If your pokemon has crappy IV's and a nature which doesn't benefit, the NPC will just slaughter you.l

I disagree. Try beating it using pokemon with trashy base stats. You can get KO'd with a move that's not very effective.

Agreed, it is just terrible what Gamefreak gets away with... There are ways to incourage diversity in trading without two of the same version (I am actually not upset really at the two version)... They release the 3rd version though...
Added to the face that they remaked two pokemon titles already and the games are just very similar. It annoys me Skyward sword game the same score as the latest pokemon games.
