If you cant pick it out for yourself then someones opinion isnt going to make it better.
Though it was a beautiful game and had excellent controls, an ok sotry line with cheesy dialogue. gotta love capcom
The controls were horrible...the gun moved so SLOW!
everything else was fine though

I agree about the controls....I'm not partial to the Gamecube controller but I played it for roughly five minutes (forgive me that) because the controls felt incredibly wonky and uncomfortable.
IMO IMO IMO qualifiers all over the place. Don't kill me.

Yous should probably play the wii version it's alot faster.
I don't know why I like it so much. I mean, the combat is so extremely repetitive. Shoot guy in the head, then proceed to kick him in the head. Repeat this until you beat the game.
It's still one of my favorite games of all time, and I have the Wii and GameCube version. I don't know why it's so fun, but it is.
The game garnered critical acclaim from pretty much everywhere, tt won almost all the GOTY awards, and is considered by some to be the best game ever made. Why is that? The game is fun, but what sets it apart?yellowandmushyfor me resident evil 4 was the perfect game
the story was great
it was long around 20-25 hours and it had alot of replay valure
the graphics were out of this world
and the enemies were scary and unique
Alot of people are critical of it due to the fact that it's not a survival/horror game in any sense, while the previous RE games were just that. I mean, you can take out 5+ foes with a SINGLE shotgun blast in RE4...and still have 100+ rounds left. And you become even MORE deadly when you get the semi-auto Striker. After you get that...the rest of the game is cake. Really, the horror and the survival aspects were pretty much obliterated. With that said, I still find it to be an extremely fun game.Verge_6
yah, but thats exactly the problem, i dont even know why they called it resident evil, should of just slapped a new name on that puppy and everyone would be happy.
And also re4 wasnt even scary.

i played it on the ps2
personally it was the only RE game i could play for more than a quarter of the game, i actually completed it for a change instead of just spectating my friends beating it (sometimes for me)
that being said the real answer is it's a sheep goty, ofcourse it's going to have a ton of praise , they take what they can get(no offense), especially being a major franchise that appeals to hardcore mature gamers (nmh of last gen except way better production value, though less quirky and fun story, also similar to another game known as eternal darkness
it also continued an ever popular line of cliches... count down timer, real time event quick press simon BS minigame things, loading doors
i dont recall being too hyped for this game before release, until seeing the video of leon's 100 deaths or whatever
it took me a while to actually get around to playing it and i didn't really find it the greatest gift to gaming or even the scariest survival horror game, but it was definately the most playable RE game i've ever touched

But the old ****of Resident Evil is dead. It has evolved, and we'll probably never see the ****from 0-3 return. 4 and 5 are the new ways of the series, and I know Capcom will keep it that way.

The first three weren't scary either, I suppose the ammo-conservation made it more intense though.

At the time the ****cs were scary. Of course now its not as scary. To be honest the Remake for GC was better then RE4. That's what the series was build on. Survival Horror!

you probably played it after all the games it influenced. it was a revolution in tps. gears, mass effect, gta 4. every tps these days is using that over the shoulder view and the re4 shooting mechanics. it was way more than fun.
I don't know why I like it so much. I mean, the combat is so extremely repetitive. Shoot guy in the head, then proceed to kick him in the head. Repeat this until you beat the game.

its because the gameplay is so fresh. you've never played a tps like re4 before unless you played it after gears and every other new game that uses re4 ideas.
One of the best games of all-time, PERIOD.butteater86
yeah i expect it to be added to the gs list after some time. people that dont agree just simply dont get it. im one of hte biggest re fans ever of every single re game. i loved the old style but it was so old school. re4 was a refreshing change and one of the best games ever made. games only completely revolutionize something once in a blue moon. re4 being the one to do it last gen.

over-rated.
it simply revolutionized 3rd person shooters, look at all the top games after wards which uses its camera system and over the shoulder gameplay mechanics, gears, mass effect, halo 3 etc.
it had the characters, story. boss battles...to me, a almost PERFECT GAME...nuff said

i would call it perfect. it was so fun and fresh i mustve played through the sp 20 times and also unlocked the handcannon with 5star rating on every level with every character in mercs. i played it nearly every day for the whole year it came out, 2005.

no i had all 3. re4 was the best game in 05 by miles. and miles and miles.
One of my favorite game of all time, for sure.
If RE4 is your notion of an "overrated" game than I personally hope the market gets hit with serveral more "overrated" games in the next few years, for my sake.

Or he might have a fetish for Mcauley Culkin look alike's.
Where did all this hate come from?
Resident Evil 4 is not a good survival horror game, but that's because (despite the series connection), it really isn't survival horror. It's a horror-themed action game, and as a third person shooter, the gameplay is absolutely perfect. Plain and simple.
I made a huge post about why Resident Evil 4 is so good yesterday (a link if you're curious), but to sum it up, the camera, sound, control, and design make every single enemy encounter tense and exciting. Because of the way the game is made, each battle is perfectly paced. The single-player campaign's lengthy foray through the backwoods of Spain keeps throwing new enemies and encounters at you, and so it never leaves you bored.
Sure, it's not the scariest thing ever. Sure, the story is hokey crap, and the script is downright laughable at times. But as third-person action goes, it simply doesn't get better. It absolutely nails the basic mechanics of an enemy encounter, and that is why it's easily one of the best games of last generation.
after RE4 look how many 3rd person over the shoulder shooters came out. It totally reinvented the shooter genre in some areas. Made it incredibly fun too.
The characters were imaginative. Controls were great. Graphics fantastic. My favorite game of all time.
