As an owner of all current generation consoles and a PC, yes it's warranted.

Yep.

If you love controllers that much, you can always use one on your PC.

Funny thing is that on the PC you get WAY more options to configure those very same console controllers in any way you want.

The PC is a highly overrated platform, like the wii to get the most out of the PC it depends solely on your taste in games. While there is alot of variety on the PC it may not be the variety you are looking for and there are alot of high profile titles that aren't released on PC.

playing ONE game on a system is hardly reason enough to determine if you are impressed with it or not :P

there are tons of amazing PC games... they usually offer deeper and better experiences than console games, from my experience, minus a few exceptions :)

But relative to each individual console the PC has much more variety and superior versions of that variety. However if you pit all 3 consoles against the PC then consoles win in variety.

I'm sorry but if anything the PC out does the 360 and PS3 in terms of library.

The Wii is harder for it to contend with. Do your research.

My thoughts are that I sometimes plug my Xbox 360 controller into the PC plugged into my 50" Sony Bravia 1080P-native TV while I sit back comfortably on the couch about 10 feet away. Other than that, the PC is highly regarded for everything it's capable of and while consoles are catching-up, there will always be things the PC can do that they just won't.

You tend to get value out of just about any kind of technology anymore. If you spend twice as much on a PC than a console, there's a really good chance you'll be able to have a more customized experience and/or possibly better graphics, sound, and controls. At the same time the PC does at least twice as many things that consoles do.

Budget might also be problem you know.

Basically, the only reason to own consoles is for the games that don't come out on PC.

I say it is warranted. It's the best place to play games, it can do so much more than all the consoles put together. If the keyboard and mouse gives you problems just plug in a xbox 360 controller, it's as simple as that. If you want the best gaming experience on offer than you can't pass up on a quality pc.

One thing that worries me is that we're starting to see more and more core games that aren't coming out to the PC, which leaves me wondering if we are forced to hope that the developers of these games are to one day disappoint their fans. Cuz right now, i'm hoping that NeverDead, Anarchy Reigns, Final Fantasy XIII-2 and versus XIII would turn out to be bad games.

Its the only platform where you, the gamer, has almost all options available to you. Freedom and least restrictive for its users, is why its highly warrented.

Core games? There is that term again. If you mean hardcore games, then say hardcore, but then again, games are not hardcore, the gamer is. Games just differ in genre and variety.

I define system wars as not only a forum that puts focus on games but on the systems involved in the playing of games and comparison between them - Pros and Cons. In this case TC was wondering why people might view the PC with more regard in comparison to console systems. It's not just about games, at least not with a PC.

You kind of just answered you're own question. You can do anything on a PC. Browse internet, listen to music, use any input device, and then what you forgot to add was dedicated servers, better graphics, higher framerates, free online (excpet certain MMOs), cheaper games, Steam, and mods.

I wasn't using it as a con to the PC I'm he was saying that for individual consoles PC would be stronger, but I am merely saying you can get more than 1 console for the price of a decent gaming rig. The price isn't really of much relevance to me, it's the fact that you can get a more varied experience if you invested in two consoles instead of 1 PC.

I know the PC has more high scoring exclusive than consoles combined but when it comes to variety, there is a gap in both console and the PC front.

I see what you're saying now, but I also disagree that two consoles would provide more variety. Entire genres are almost non existent on console, such as simulators and RTS's. I can't think of a genre that doesn't exist on pc.

You can plug various controllers into the PC. SAGE_OF_FIRE

Doesnt mean they will work correctly. Controllers dont work as well on pc as they do on consoles. PLUS most games still dont have the option which requires extra software to even use them.

Fighters, JRPGS (I don't even like these so IMPO it's a null point but people do like em) and action adventures like DMC and NG.

@GD1551

I don't know the specs of the console off hand but if you built a gaming PC with the same specs as a 360 the cost would be nearly identical. Given that hardware depreciates quickly it is easy to buy a gaming PC for next to nothing. Don't forget that gaming PC can also do all the different tasks you would expect and you have a 20+ year backlog.

I see what you're saying now, but I also disagree that two consoles would provide more variety. Entire genres are almost non existent on console, such as simulators and RTS's. I can't think of a genre that doesn't exist on pc.

Fighters, JRPGS (I don't even like these so IMPO it's a null point but people do like em) and action adventures like DMC and NG.

I know we have Blazblue, Guilty Gear and Street Fighter off the top of my head. Then JRPGs are covered with the RPG maker games like Aveyond, Laxius Force, Deadly Sin and Eternal Eden. Action adventure games are on here with Darksiders and DMC 4.

[QUOTE="gamebreakerz__"] But relative to each individual console the PC has much more variety and superior versions of that variety. However if you pit all 3 consoles against the PC then consoles win in variety.Whiteblade999

A decent gaming PC also costs the price of two consoles.

I mentioned Decent gaming PC, what's the point of PC gaming to play at console levels? There's no real reason for that unless you just want a DOTA/MMO PC.

The cost of a PC vs console evens out in the end. PC gets cheaper games, no subscriptions (To play online), and such. Yes, you pay more up front, but with a console you end up paying just as much over time.

Sure there is. I'm not stuck on the whims of whatever Microsoft or Sony decide to release. Then my PC can do everything your console can do + the other functions.

Edit: I forgot that PC has no region locking. This is huge when you have companies like Nintendo. You know all the people whining about Xenoblade? This could have been avoided with no region locks. A publisher tries that crap to me on PC I simply import it.

So i played on my friends PS3, played some Haze. I wasn't very impressed. Why do people like PS3 so much?

Don't judge a system off one game...

[QUOTE="SAGE_OF_FIRE"]You can plug various controllers into the PC. VanDammFan

Doesnt mean they will work correctly. Controllers dont work as well on pc as they do on consoles. PLUS most games still dont have the option which requires extra software to even use them.

ignorance at its best, any good logitech controller will work as well as ps3/xbox

Yep.

If you love controllers that much, you can always use one on your PC.

DarkLink77

Best part is that even PS3, 360 and Wii controllers all work easily on it. Though Wii does need bluetooth, obviously.

It really depends on the effort you are willing to put into it. I got dual 23/24" monitors, and a fairly high-end PC. Sure, someone would argue a big HDTV is better, and I got one of those for consoles, but the sub-hd resolutions of games stretched across 40" or 50" is pretty gross. Some games do work best with controllers, it is quite easy to admit, I also got an arcade stick, flight stick, and G25 wheel, I like to use the best control schemes possible for games. :o

Recettear for JRPGs, exclusive, and amazing. :)

The Last Remnant is amazing on PC, and horrid broken trash on consoles. I am so sad so many people missed out on that game from poor reviews for experiances with the 360 version.

DMC4 runs 120 fps with more enemies and such on PC too. Hawt.
