[QUOTE="filterpunk"][QUOTE="greg_splicer"] In order of importance
1. Washed out colors kill all its games, multiplatforms most of all
2. No AA+HDR
3. Price
4. No games to write home about until MGS4 or FF13 arrive in 2008 or 2009SilverGamer99
You might want to re-read the specs on the PS3. The PS3 has full support for HDR and FSAA, the latter of which is supposedly applied to old PS1/PS2 games. I can't say much about washed out colors, since I don't own one, but the store models i've seen all seem to display vibrant colors.
I agree that there isn't much available for it right now, though MGS4 is apparently slated for November and FF13 for December. This could always change, but let's face it, none of the consoles started with particularly great launches - i've yet to see a game for the Wii that interests me and the X360 didn't exactly start out with a bang either. I won't even get started on how awful some of the first-year PS2 titles were.
Bottom line? The first year is meaningless in the long run - if it were that much of a proving ground, the Dreamcast would probably still be around. The PS3 has only been available for a few months, which means that developers are still cutting their teeth on the hardware. What we're seeing now isn't what we'll see in a year, making any comparisons to other systems or games largely worthless as far as graphics/capabilities are concerned.
OMG, you make such a great point. Thats what I've been trying to tell these Lemmings, but they're so quick to write off the PS3 when its been out only 5 months and hasn't released its heavy hitting games. I think they're so quick to write it off because they know PS3 will win when it releases its key games and because it has a more international fanbase than 360 does.
ya so true, and we didnt even see
the next socom, jak, sly cooper, twisted metal, god of war....
