Why is the Wii hated so much?

It tends to sell to people who we don't or haven't considered traditional gamers.

It's not the fact that they aren't releasing games that are on the PS3 or the 360. It's the fact that they're not releasing the games they once did fact enough aand are just soley focusing on one audience and obviously shelling out the other(The one that truly mattered to them before this gen.) Now they just releasing shovelware and expects us to actually want to play those games because that's all they're mostly going to offer.

I mean Reggie said "How are we abandoning the core gamers? They have Animal Crossing and GTADS!" Not only is that quote just plain harsh, but he added a DS game instead of another Wii hardcore game. The only Wii game he mentioned was Animal Crossing.

Nintendo failed me this gen, and what they're doing now will determine what I think about buying their console next-gen. And I'm sure I'm not the only one that is thinking this way about them...

I don't know.. I really like Wii, it has exclusives. I'd be dying if I was just a ps3 owner, jumping from 360 port to the next.

i don't think so. I think one of the main reasons is its tremendous success because of the casuals while PS3/X360 are getting lower sales. If one doesn't care sales, he/she wouldn't even bother to hate/bash the wii. Get my point? Also, the so called hardcore gamers (elitists) dislike casuals very much thinking they are inferior beings.

Its gimmicky controller as you call it is what made me, mainly a PC gamer, choose it over any other current gen console. The Wii is my very first console.

Hate is a strong word. dislike is more like it. I don't really like it because there are only a couple of games that appeal to me and thats it. It doesn't matter that it doesn't have COD4, or Bioshock, what does matter is that it does not have any games of that kind that are good on it. The conduit looks cool, and I think its a step in the right direction. Yes its selling like crazy, but the games are made up of mostly non gamer type sports stuff and mini games, too much shovel ware. The biggest gripe I have is that you can't do anything really advanced with it like you can with the other two systems. the hardware is too weak. A Wii with 360 processing power would have been unstoppable. I still have not seen a game on the Wii that could not be done on a gamecube, and that is just not right.

That being said, i still play SSBB, and Wii sports. I would never buy a Wii for myself though.

LOLz i think it's better for you to research before jumping into assumptions such as yours. See, this is a problem with most people. Making assumptions without research, proof, etc.

And your so-called elitist complex, is in reality no different to the "true gamer" complex that rules most gaming boards. when individuals love to call anybody who disagrees with their point of view a fanboy or hater.

Wrong, just opinions. The Wii still sucks. I have one that hasn't been played in a couple months, because, compared to my library of games for the PS3, 360, and PC, the Wii games just suck. That's my opinion, not fact.

I'm still waiting for a new Donkey kong (no druming game or racing please.:cry: ) and a starfox game

They keep on bragging about how much money they make . It's good that they have found a new public but seriously, there's only one true game on the Wii, Mario Galaxy . Metroid,Smash Brothers and Mario Kart is more of the same, and less than its forerunners . Zelda was a Cube game . Nintendo left their true fans who supported them for years in the cold with NO games, a machine that's aging extremely quickly now .

If they are smart, Wii 2 comes out next year with Crysis !!

I dont hate the Wii, I just dont like the controller & the majority of the (mediocre) games which are released on it... also the lack of the quality multiplats which get also released on other systems... i dont like the poor online service.....

Still i dont believe Wii sucks, because its selling and many of those who got a Wii are happy with their purchase... it does have a few good exclusives, it just happens to be a console which doesn't interest me..

Having a PS3 & 360, I really dont see why I should spend money getting a Wii for just 3 - 4 exclusive titles and a couple more which will get released in future..

"Hardcore" gamers hate that fact that the Wii is making games that appeal to more casual gamers. Video games are supposed to be fun though, for everyone. Fanboys hate the fact that it's winning in sales, and feel the need to bash it because of this.

People hate it because it's different. Because you can't do what some people do which is buy the console then expect to be getting Generic Shooter #21 every month. You have to change your view on games and play different types to get the most out of the console. Games like Zack and Wiki, I'd probably never touched it if I'd had a 360 because I'd have been sucked into playing the same old games as normal, but since I just have a Wii I got it and it's awesome. The Wii is full of those kind of different games, Boom Blox, No More Heroes, blastworks, and soon de Blob, Mushroom Men, Deadly Creatures, that people just pass of as teh kiddy, but will most likely get AA or above.

Sadly there isn't really anywhere on the website to go for an unbiased opinion on a console, if you stay here too long then you'll get told it sucks by all the haters, if you go to the Wii forum everyone will say it's awesome. You just have to look at one of the threads showing off all the upcoming Wii games, read a bit about each game, and see if there are enough there that interest you, and enough games like SMG that are already out, for you to buy one.
