There was a line from the first transformers about how when they found the decepticon in the 30's or whatever, that it gave us the technology to make cars...because you know, cars were invented in like the 30's:roll: . I don't remember the exact date they gave in the movie, but it was so dumb I think it gave me a stroke.

Yes, but there should be no confusion as to why. The TC is honestly confused as to why the wii sells.

Yes, a few bad products sell well. But many good products also sell well. And there are more products that sell because they are good than those that sell despite being bad. So, thinking logically, the TC did indeed made a nonsenscial statement in saying "the wii is crap even though it sells well." It makes no sense.

Anyways, my main question is why do people like waggle so much. I didn't feel any more immersed (if anything I felt less immersed) in a game while lightly moving my wrist. I mean I loved No More Heroes and Zelda, and madworld, but the entire time I was asking myself why this wasn't on ps3 or 360, because I feel like a controller would be a better, more precise control system with a far less tedious control scheme. I can't say I don't enjoy the wii every once in a while, but I feel like the only games that have benefited from the waggle are quirky titles (trauma center), your rail shooters (HOTD), and on occasion first person games (metroid).

I'm not following your argument. Is it that you think the wii is good, therefore someone else saying it is crap makes no sense? Or that you believe more good products sell well than bad ones, therefore categorizing the wii as a product that is both bad and sells well makes no sense? The commonality of an event has no bearing on how much sense it makes.

....Except Transformers has a one farking larger then HELL of a fanbase WORLDWIDE (I goto China all the time on business trips....An MAN! The people here know more about Transformers than some of the people I know back in the states! And THEY ALL go out and watch the movie, no matter how bad, just because they wanted to stasify their childhood cravings!) , a fanbase that's FAR larger than even the hardcore gamer fanbase!

It's not a good comparison because of that VARY reason because Transformers as a BRAND has fans of all genres (what is it with fangirls and their love of Starscream? hehehehe). Movie is a PART of that brand. If you drag out the movie, you have to drag out the whole kitten kaboddle with it!

Yes I'm so tired of wii owners who refuse to even try anything other than mario, zedla, and metroid. Yes, we get it, those are great games. But quit complaining that there aren't enough games when you go out of your way to avoid the many great third party games.

I love that it keeps away most of the "gamers" in this thread.

Pop culture Icon and Gadget, it's proabaly a gaming console third to some people, it's like having the latest i-pod people buy it because other people are. It's just the thing you Buy if you are the kind of person who bought the mac book air for like £1000. It's got that non gamer demographic and really could just do this with Wii_____ games. BUT we are begginging to see sales drop off like a stone due to lcak of decent software.

This is true. Especially since it's main feature has'nt been particularly good till a few months ago. I've recently played and completed SMG which was my first Wii encounter and here's what I experienced:

The Wii mote is bad bad bad. Not enough buttons, noticable delay and waggling just can't replace a button press as far as efficiency goes.

So It's a gamecube woth a worse controller. Or was at least.

Oh, and SMG is really good but not as good as sheep want it to be.

3 things that bump it to 8.5:

Not so great controls (movement and pointer issues. Like KZ2 only there's no "realism" or "acceleration" excuses).

Not so great collision detection (Mario tends to stick a bit too much to things also when gravity is'nt supposed to influence you. I suspect the wall jump mechanic of being partly to blame here)

Fixed/auto camera at all times. Ok, a 3d platformer with gravity mechanics and a camera that sometimes craps out.... It's just great fun being submerged in a huge bowl of water near the edge and suddenly the camera autoadjusts it's self outside the not at all transparent bowl. That would'nt be so bad if you did'nt have an airsupply, enemies, shoddy controls and complete lack of sense of direction to deal with.

As I said, it's a good game but these issues only get ignored because it's the sheep flagship starring a certain fat little plumber.

In the past,it sucked. I agree it has been getting better,but still,it isn't as good as other consoles.

It is different and cheap. Im a harcore gamer and I love my Ps3 and 360 (MAN THE PS3 IS FINALLY getting awsome!!) But To me the Ps3 and 360 are really just the same as the Ps2 and X-box one with extra pollys. The wii is different, and some games (See no more hero, Metriod Prime 3 to get what im saying) feel really new and interesting with the Wii. Im also a legacy gamer and ther are a tom of turbo graphix 16 games on there that are tough to find so the wii is great for that too. (get secret of mana and Phantasy Star 4 on virtual console they rock bigtime!)

Some of us like it when one of the 3 does something different and I for one would have been bored if Nintendo was just like Ps3 and 360 and the Ds was like a lame-sauce Psp (im a admitted Psp hater i will never get why anyone thinks that its any good at all)

Great post. There's a lot of people who used to game, who have grown bored with consoles when it just became about increased polygon counts.

If I'm interested in that - my PC blows them all away, has for well over a decade.

The Wii actually captures some of the game playing crowd back from PC-only, as it offers something unique and unlike what I can do better on a PC.

The "hardcore" market is by far the smallest market you can cater a console too, which MS and Sony are determined to do, whereas Nintendo has made the Wii to cater to just about everyone. It's really NOT that hard to figure out.VideoGameGuy

I swear, most gamers on GS must have zero self esteem if they're so threatened by people liking something that they don't.

The daily `bash Wii' threads [now years later] make it obvious that there's some serious self-image issues among the GS public; as most mature people ignore things they don't get or like and live happy lives having forgotten about the fact that crap like Miley Cyrus sells far more albums than any decent musician. I love the musical sophistication of jazz, consider it a higher art than most other music - and yet don't find the need to bash other types of music day-in and day-out to prove my musical choice's worth. Nope, I'm confident that 30 years from now - the only album still on the shelf will be the ones I've bought this year.

Today's flavor of the day will be gone and forgotten; well past even `where are they now' spots.

If your console is so great - why be concerned about the temporary interruptions, what you'd like to think of as a fad? If it is, and you're right, you would be3 better of just getting back to playing games and let history decide.

Then again, if you're wrong - that's the time to relentlessly attack as you're clinging to a sinking ship. The more people rail on the Wii, the more I think that it really has changed things and the old controllers/consoles are going the way of the dodo.

I love that it keeps away most of the "gamers" in this thread.

I'm sorry and no offense to all the "fanboys" out there but the Wii sux. I have one just cause I unfortunately like Mario and Zelda. I have tried many games for the Wii and I get bored with all of them. Even the over-hyped Smash Bros. Brawl. I have been arguing with myself and realized I have been denying how much I dislike the Wii console. Its better than the GCN only by its sales and massive library. Thats when it hit me. The Wii has quantity but the games lack better quality is many parts such as graphics and gamplay. Everyone thought the motion sensing would work with every genre. However, I've only seen the controls work for sports and party games. Nintendo has turned over to the "family based games" today. I hate it and I have been denying that since the Wii launched. Everyone said about casual/hardcore games, graphics, and maturity, etc. And I have been disagreeing with this for years until this hit me. Someone said to me "graphics help u enjoy a game more" which is kinda true as long as the controls are decent as well. I just saw the latest screens for the port of Modern Warfare for Wii and thought it looks like Call of Duty 1 and 2 for PS2! Horrible! I hate to be a graphics whore but I think I am. I've been so bored with my Wii I've been thinking about selling it but I feel like I'll miss out on the new Mario and Zelda and Metroid games coming out. Even if they don't look THAT great, I still enjoy those franchises since I was young. I'm 20 yrs old. I play my 360 more with more games I enjoy. This totally, I cant even recommend a game to kids on the 360, besides.... viva pinata lol which they probably wont even understand. Maybe the ps3 with rachet and little big planet, but thats pretty much it. The wii has tons of good games for kids, which imo the other systems need more of
