Why is the Witcher 3 so fkning boring?

I bought the Complete edition, I loved Skyrim and Fable 1 and 2 but this game is soooo fking boring, the combat is ass, Geralt sounds like he had a lobotomy and the world is uninteresting. Right now I'm helping some fat guy find his daughter and one of the quest was us bringing an aborted fetus back to life....maybe if the combat wasn't so awful it'd be better.

How come people praise this game so much?

I loved both Skyrim and The Witcher 3 myself but as the saying goes, different strokes for different folks.

Agreed. The combat is also mediocre.

The first few moments are very interesting but it quickly becomes a chore and the window dressing of the world becomes very apparent.

I actually enjoyed that quest lol. The game is what you make of it. The combat is definitely on the weaker side, but most massive RPGs tend to have average combat (Skyrim was just as ass for combat IMO). For me, I found enjoyment in what felt like a lot of decisions that impacted the stories occurring throughout the game. I also have a completionist/collect everything mentality, so this game gave me plenty to do.

EDIT: I actually plan on playing the expansions sometime in the next month or so. It will be interesting to see if my opinion will change at all since when I originally beat Witcher 3.

Not everything has to be some Japanese game where you have a giant sword that sets the air on fire when you swing it. Apparently, though, that is what counts for exciting swordplay these days.

Because the controls aren't good and the characters won't shut the **** up. They ramble on and on.

The game is very polished and looks gorgeous.

What made it boring for me is that the world is very static. people do not really do anything, just stand around the villages. Also, you travel alone most of the time, which is always dull. If you had funny sidekick around, the game would be much more fun.

Also, the main towns lacked atmosphere. They were super dull places. The card game was dull too.

You dislike the Red Baron quest, but dig Skyrim and Fable.

I also agree. People give a free pass to it's crappy gameplay too much just because they like it's story and graphics.

The controls are great, unless you're perhaps running it at 30 fps or on console. Sub 30 fps makes it feel like crap. But, that's the same with most games, which is why consoles are so lame.

Sounds like you didn't play the game. TW3 had the "liveliest" world of any RPG I've ever played. NPCs were incredibly active, doing a variety of tasks (mingling, working, etc.), traveling to and from villages, had day/night cycles, etc. Your decisions in the game had a direct impact on the lives of the people in these villages. NPCs could actually die after being rescued if you don't escort them back to their village (they can get eaten by wolves or murdered by bandits). Towns felt like actual towns, with hundreds of densely packed buildings (Novigrad had 250-300 buildings, compared to Whiterun's 16). These cities were populated with thousands of NPCs, which each district having a distinct demographic flavour.

No game has ever come close to creating a "living" world like TW3.

Funny, I always deemed Skyrim to be boring, with clunky uninteresting combat and shitty story :D BUT it's actually an okay game when played on the Switch.

Played it with a mouse and keyboard, above thirty frames per second. Mediocre controls. They had ten years to get them right and they still failed.

Both Witcher 2 and 3 I bought cus of the hype, hated both of them lol Witcher series is overrated I think it's borring, great graphics tho.

The controls in the game were no worse than BOTW. They're not Dark Souls/Nioh level, but good enough.

Witcher 3 is incredibly boring and most overrated game of this gen. Its same ubisoft style open world crap with bad combat and controls. Plus theres too much unnecessary useless dialogue it feel like taking simulator.

Tried playing it again, did that side quest with the tower and that blond witch chick that Gerald banged, ended up killing her and the whole time I was like zzzzzz....

You like games like Fable 2 so I can understand why you might get bored during TW3, though personally I loved the game especially the Blood&Whine expansion but how the **** is Skyrim less boring than TW3? Skyrim is the epitome of boring with its copy paste dungeons and droney, uninspiring voice actors sending you on fetch quests; you're pretty much forced to use fast travel to save you from boring to death.

One reason and one reason only, Skyrim let me be a stealth/bow user which I adore in video games. When I played Fable 2 and 3 I almost exclusively used fire arms. The cross bow in Witcher 3 is like firing spit wads at enemies. It does almost no damage. If it wasn't for Skyrim letting me choose my playstyle I wouldn't have cared as much about it, oh and dragons.

Just so you know, I think the combat has way more depth in Witcher 3 than in either Skyrim or Fable, but that isn't always a good thing.

Youd love Crysis 3 then.

not sure about C3 because its complete trash but Crysis 2 no matter how dumbed down was still play better than witcher 3. i mean C2 is much better game than TW3.

I enjoyed it at the time very much but some internet rando finding it boring has really changed my outlook in life. Thanks Rando.

@pelvist: I only played crysis 2 on the 360 which was great. I'd love for them to make a remastered triology, that and the dead space games

IDK why it's so highly praised. I own 3, and I find it adequate at best. I'd prefer any of it's piers I can think of. I don't understand why people place it on such a high pedestal, I don't see it. There's far better out there IMO.

and thats why im not feeling any good for cyberpunk 2077. and sci fi cyberpunk is one of my fav setting.

i imagine cyberpunk will be futurstic witcher 3.

I love Witcher 3 the way it is and I happen to enjoy the Combat gameplay the most.

Strange that you like Crysis 2 and hate Crysis 3. They're not that much different except for the addition of bow/arrow and the use of Ceph weapons in the latter.
