It's okay, nothing special. The shoulder buttons do suck, but I can get used to almost anything. I like the 360 controller better. I hate both Dpads, but the Xbone Dpad is a slight improvement but at the cost of the shoulder buttons. Dislike the choice to use batteries yet again, which in a crutch online situation when your batteries go out, can really be an awful situation. I prefer the cellphone, laptop, 3DS, Wii U, Vita, PS3, DS, GBA SP, and PS4 internal batteries method.

I shouldn't have too, that's my issue. It's the principle. I hope with the next Xbox, they offer internal + cord. You are right, the solution is only dollars away, but for $500, I was hoping for more value.

I went through half a dozen battery packs on 360, those things don't last forever sadly.

who gives a shit about the D-pad, in like 99% of the games it's simple inventory control

plus I hear a ton of complaints about the shoulder buttons, I was surprised when I tried it it wasn't much of an issue, not better, not worse, but I can see change alone upsetting people

I kind of though it felt lighter, then again I played for years with the keyboard attachment so on the X360 controller so maybe that's not an issue

2D fans, indie fans, fighting fans, and FPS fans that like responsive weapons selects for online matches.

You are right, in most 3D games the Dpad is simple inventory control. Killer Instinct and Strider come to mind on Xbone and future 2D titles.

I can't even use my four 360 arcade sticks with the Xbone, so instead of buying what's available for Killer Instinct, I am using the Dpad until I find a fighter I adore. It really comes down to what kind of gamer you are. I like 3D games as well. I have hundreds of XBLA games from Super Meatboy to Streetfighter 2 to Mortal Kombat. Those Dpads come in handy, especially when I have friends over.

BTW: In GeoW, Halo, and COD I can't tell you how many times the crummy dpad gave me the wrong weapon at the EXACT wrong time in a fierce online match. Resulted in my death and I know countless others. Even in 3D games you can have issues if the Dpad sucks. Not as crucial as a 2D, Indie, or Fighting gamer, but even 3D gamers can suffer with poor dpads at times.

Well when they created something as near perfect as the 360 controller, it comes pretty hard to beat it, and XBO controller just slightly fell short. That said it's still an amazing controller.

It's a wonder the Dualshock 4 somehow bests them both though.

I don't know.

Why does it have less features than the 360?

Why are the games not as good as the 360?

The world may never know.

Really, I have three and all are still functioning.

Although I did notice Play and Charge Kit doesn't work on the 360. The recharge pack has charge memory problems. I took one I thought was dead and was about to throw away and tried it in the 360 Quick Charge Kit (charges a pack in two hours from wall socket) and after a 2 or 3 charges from empty to full, it was fully usable again, Stopped using the Play and Charge Kit after that.

Give it as much shit as you want, but my fingers never slip off of the joysticks after many hours of gaming, really happy with it. To be honest though this generation I prefer the PS4 controller.

Because 100 million wasn't enough for those best engineers in the world MS has. They needed 327 million to create a controller.

The only thing I find worse on the X1 controller compared to the 360 controller are the shoulder buttons. I'm somewhat used to them now but at first I was like wtf is this when trying to throw grenades in Titanfall.

I love the X1 controller. It was a tall order to surpass the 360 controller.

Anyone who has issues with the X1 controller must not have battle hardened gamer hands then.

xbox brand died when xbox360 released all the co-creators left the companys its never been the same since xbox360 launch was total garbage if u compare it to the original xbox is actual programming quality

I think it looks better, actually. Less of a Happy Meal toy than the 360 controller.

I love that the shoulder buttons need a walkthrough on how to use them. What a blunder that particular bit was.

What XB1 controller does better: Better joystick grip
Superior build quality, the plastic don't feel cheap like 360
Battery compartment that doesn't stick out.

What XB1 controller does worse: Joysticks too loose
Terrible shoulder buttons
Batteries become loose inside the compartment

The ps4 controller is nice at first but then it becomes really really bad since the rubber on the joysticks starts to melt (wtf) and it becomes harder and harder to play. Many times when i play fifa my hand will start slipping on the melted rubber. Also the battery life is really bad on it, i had to charge it every 2-3 hours. I dont understand why sony fans are so pretentious and act as if the controller is god sent when its actually not that good. Better than ps3 but really nothing special...

There is also the matter of gaming time on 360 between us to consider...as well as the length of time we've owned 360s to consider. I can't tell you how many hours I've played 360, but I can tell you I have over 120,000 Gamerscore if that gives you an idea. That doesn't count all the hours (hours upon hours) I put into fighting and online shooter games I maxed out the Gamerscore but continued to play against others online. I have had two 360s since 2005 launch. I have about 6-7 of the battery packs that hold 10 minutes or less and need to be charged again. I have probably 4 of them I bought three-ish years ago (because my originals were not working), and only two of them still work proper. The other two hold half a charge.

My equipment btw, is TWO wall socket chargers (360 Quick Charge Kits), and at least four Play and Charge cords. I'm not sure they even sell white battery packs anymore, but that's what a lot of mine are. I also have a few black, one green, and one red battery pack.

The idea that as a new Xbone owner, three-four years from now that $25 battery pack won't be working right doesn't sit well with me.

I agree. I use a 360 controller on my PC and can't imagine ever switching to the Xbone controller. My only complaints with the 360 controller are the d-pad and the constricting battery bulge. The Xbone controller feels too compressed. Every thing feels smaller and closer together. My biggest complaint is both the bumpers and the triggers. On the 360 controller the triggers sat in a comfortable part of my fingers, by the first knuckle. On the Xbone they feel further down the finger, by the second knuckle. It just feels wrong.

I've played Killer Instinct in Best Buy for about 2 hours and I was forced to use the analog to play because the dpad would not register my diagonal inputs but once out of every 10 attempts which is terrible for fighting games since I'm a dpad user. The dpad on the x1 is terrible for diagonal inputs as shown in this video:

I can not agree about the X1 controller being better.

@SolidTy: Out of curiosity I took apart a 360 rechargeable battery pack that had stopped taking charge and was mildly surprised to see there were simply two skinless AA NiCad batteries inside the casing. For some reason I expected something different.

Maybe I should do that sometime with some of my wonky battery packs, haha. Your results don't surprise me given the shape of the packs.
