Because the XOne is a custom built, optomised, very efficient console that is silent.
PS4 is an off the shelf cram job that will probably sound like a jet engine, just like the fat PS3.

ah...... so glad to see you're still trolling around.

Not very optimal with space now is it? In theory if it were so custom compared to the PS4, it would be a more compact unit.
Â
Regardless that aside, I think it's just that Japanese hardware >>> American hardware. Microsoft have the edge in Software design, Sony have it in hardware design.
Because MS is not an experienced hardware manufacturer (RRODs, Surface RT, etc prove it).
MS should stick to software...
Sony, has bucket loads of experience in a multitude of hardware and devices.
Â
Also, the X1 is huge and fugly because they need to fit clouds inside it.
[QUOTE="Nengo_Flow"]cuz X1 was rushed.a55a55inxHow would you know it was rushed? Cuz M$ said that they didnt rush it, which obviously means they rushed it.
Why don't we wait and see how loud and hot they get before chastising the Xbox One for being bigger? After the RROD disaster MS are clearly trying their hardest to make sure the console has good air flow and won't overheat or anything, making it bigger is probably part of that.bobbetybobFrom several reports on the internet, they claim that the Xbox One is quite silent when it's running.
Because Sony has more experience in slimmer, more optimized hardware. (Blu_Ray players, handhelds, Slim Playstation models)
Microsoft always makes ginormous monstrosities of hardware requiring big ugly power bricks. They are clueless in the Hardware department.
Â
Sony's decades of experience and electronic hardware architects are far superior than Microsoft's.

:lol:Â Well played. Don't forget meal sizes :)
We make 44oz soda cups that fit into cup holders, for when 7 measured cups of liquid just isn't enough [QUOTE="_Matt_"][QUOTE="Spartan070"]Because in America we do things big, just look at our SUVs and trucks...:PSpartan070

Or perhaps Sony just have better engineers,

*brickIt's poorly designed. Microsoft is not a hardware company
Damn thing has a power bring outside

Yeah, but he has a point. The PS4, by Sony's own admission, is an "off the shelf" console, whereas the XB1 is highly customized.

customized in what sense? so devs will have to "learn" another language?
While the processor and GPU are based on the same AMD tech, the XB1's CPU is custom built just for the XB1, the same as it's GPU.
Sony went an "off the shelf" route. That's not necessarily a "bad" thing, it's just a different approach.
Probably just prioritizing cooling vs compactness.
Â
I imagine MS is a bit paranoid after the RROD fiasco. Having components spread out improves the cooling capabilities.
It's mostly an aesthetic decision in how each wants their console to look. MS appears to have chosen a design to fit in with other a/v components while Sony chose a more unique appearance. It has very little, if anything to do with cooling as, contrary to popular belief, a bigger box does not mean better cooling once you include fan(s).asylumni

yes actually a bigger box does improve cooling, a cluttered box increases resistance to airflow and makes the fans work harder.

Allows for more surface area for heat sinking and larger fans.
