Why is Valve so popular?

The Portal games are top-notch and more worthwhile than most AAA games released this gen.

Maybe you found them too difficult.

- They Make amazing games (Half Life 1 and 2 two of the best singleplayer fps ever, Counterstrike and TF2 two of the best online FPS ever)

- Steam - best of its cla$$ on any system

- They always support mods

- One of the few devs that actually care about gamers

They have not released anything this gen that can be considered top-notch or worthwhile.

Steam? A service where you can buy games from other (better) developers?:?

I don't understand how Valve is considered top tier...

They make good games, they care about their consumers and don't BS with DLC like EA or Crapcom.

Portal 2 is probably the only full game I like that they made, I love CSS too

They support their games for free for a long time

They have amazing relationship with fans, far better than any other developer

They run the beloved Steam

I don't think there's any other developer around who deserves to be popular even half as much as Valve.
