Come one, this is the game that will get me to upgrade my pc. This will be the best MMORPG ever. It got it all, mayhamand carnage, Killing and noodety, and the graphixxxx. Im so getting thsi one:D
most people are too young here to appreciate Conan the Barbarian. they didn't grow up with the movies, comic books or anything else. to them, it's just another game.

That's not true. I'm more worried that they'll do a bad job of it. I've read most of the Conan books that I could find, watched the Conan cartoon, seen the movies of course (including Red Sonya which doesn't really count but seems the same to me)... And something else.
the only problem I've got with an MMO like this is that it's already been done in countless other games :( I think that they need to get out of this knights and stuff genre they've got stuck on for MMOs, hopefully the WH:40K MMO changes all that ;) but we'll see. Oh and Jandurin I never actually knew there were conan books :? watched the films inc. red sonya but I'm not very sure about the cartoons... I may have watched them though :P

That's not true. I'm more worried that they'll do a bad job of it. yes, it IS true. maybe it's not true for YOU...but that doesn't mean you're the standard. most of the people here are probably under 18, which means they probably haven't seen any of the movies or any of the comics that would give them a basis to get excited about a game with. It's not just that there's no hype...it's that nobody has even mentioned the game here that proves my point. nobody CARES about Conan to even bother with any kind of attention or hype.

Im not hyping Conan (even though im excited for it) because i cant be bothered to hype games i probably will enjoy. I like spreading the word about horrible games though.

I've either seen complete ignorance or intense hype. Some people definitely have mentioned it, and not just in passing. Biggest problem, I think, is it comes out on PC, and not for a good many months.

It is a MMO. Which means monthly $15 fees. That means no hype and no buy.

Meh, being 23 and watching the Conan movies/reading the comics (Including the Red Sonja spinoffs) when I was a kid, I can safely say I'm not a big fan of Conan. It's an entertaining series but not something that I actually stood by with through my years of living. My Conan cravings are few and far between to say the least.
Anyways, the major reason why Conan is not hyped is because MMOs are simply defined by one game: WoW. If you're not going to present something new and different than what can be found in WoW, your game will not be noticed. So far Conan is offering nothing fans of the genre haven't seen already in multiple forms.

I did, I still have the early comics and REH's Conan books stashed away.
Guess I'm just jaded because of how dissapointed I was with the movies, which I realize have nothing to do with the games. Oh well, when Conan punched the camel I had a good laugh ;).

Sorry but Conan is not the game that will take me away from WOW. only game that i can think of that would is, Warhammer Online. only because it reminds me of DAOC which was a awesome game before TOA expansion came out.

I'm not hyping it because I know the cycle of MMORPGS by now. Every few years a big fresh new batch of MMORPG come out and they are all competing for the same limited audience of MMORPG players. They'll dilute that batch of players amongst all the games and many will disappear into obscurity. I can't help but think this may be one of those.

Uhm... Lord of the Rings? Conan beat LOTR to press by around twenty years, LOTR is copyright 1954, Conan was 1932.

You know....I love the Conan movies, I've read a couple of the books...its just that this game looks too much like GoW and is coming out a year too late with everything else moving forward while it stood out for a 2006 title it doesn't for a 2007 title.

Not really. I've seen the movies, watched the cartoons, I know quite a bit about it. But to me it just looks like just another slasher, except with a popular name slapped on it.

Like the other guy said, 1932. I have the first 12 stories. Instead of taking an incredibly long time depicting the same world and doing the same great geas (nothing wrong with it, mind you, LOTR were great books), the first Conan books were all short stories, where every sentence had importance. Robert E. Howard would do one quest at a time, describing smaller areas of the world. He had to, because all of his stuff was part of Weird Tales, a fiction/fantasy comic book/literary magazine. However, other authors borrowed his original setting and history and made their own longer books (still maybe only half as long as say, The Two Towers), which also had little to no filler. Now there are about 80 or so books in the series. Tolkien's books could have afforded to cut out at least a third of every paragraph, because about that much of it was descriptive detail that made it kind of hard to keep reading.Â
NOT AN ATTACK ON LOTR. More people need to know about Conan.
