Why Konami not releasing Metal Gear Solid The Legacy or HD Collection on PC, PS 5 and XSX?

Its strange, rest Metal Gear games as Rising and Phantom Pain released on all last gen gen platforms but not the collection. Want to play MGS 1 , 2 : Subsistence , 3 : Substance, 4, The PSP games all over again as i can't be bothered to boot up my PS 3 to play those games.

It'd sell like Hot Cake the moment it releases ... imo.I'd buy the PC version.

Thoughts?

Konami dont do remasters.

In fact they don't do games either.

@kazumakiryu21: they probably stopped when they saw how much external devs been bullshitting them over and over. Lots of their remaster effort in the ps360 era reviewed very badly.

I still have:

- Metal Gear Solid The Essential Collection for PS2

- Metal Gear Solid The Legacy Collection for PS3

- Metal Gear Solid The HD Collection for Xbox 360

If they brought out another enhanced collection then I would buy that one too. 😅

MGS 1 & 2 are on GOG. But those are the weird original ones.

Agreed, I would love to see a next gen remaster. It's pretty much the main reason why I still have my PS3.

Thats a shame. Really wanting to replay the enhanced versions of the older MGS games.

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for the 360 is compatible with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S so there is that.

If there's one good thing about Konami is that they don't rehash their old titles under the 'HD remaster' sticker.

Konami make more money from gambling than making games. If you look at last years financial reports they made a killing from pachinko machines alone.

Most probably licensing issues/cost and also because Konami doesn't give two sh*ts about gaming anymore.

They love money but they also hate gaming ... and probably Kojima as well ... oh and gamers ... so yeah.

It's the 25th anniversary of the Tomb Raider series and we don't have an HD collection of that either so... don't know what to tell you.

@kazumakiryu21: I suspect there will be various issues relating to intellectual properties with Kojima, contracts over voice acting namely the cost, Konami also needs a sizeable development team, which they probably don’t have.

Not to forget that Konami almost went broke, they had to delist themselves a few years ago.

It’s a huge investment and probably one that doesn’t weigh out.

@Telekill: didnt they do a collection of the reboot games? And I think they bundled the previous games many time on pc.

@sakaixx: They added nothing to the reboot trilogy. They didn't even put them on different platforms. They simply shoved them all onto a single disc... yay? 😒

The PS1 and PS2 games could greatly benefit from HD remasters. Instead, they choose the incredibly unnecessary and useless path.

Honestly I think it might be smarter for some games to be Sony exclusives as fanboys will place greater value on it, and hype it up better than any advertising campaign might, whereas it might not do very well as a multiplatform title of exact same quality, both commercially and critically.

I heard there are remasters for some of those games on Series X|S. 😉

Because it contains Metal Gear Solid 4, a game that Sony paid for its exclusivity deal with enough money to build a real life TX-55.

I still find it dumb that Konami somehow pissed away that money and is now on pachinko life support.

Also, there's a huge difference in standards regarding what counts as an HD remake on consoles and PC.

They'll make a pachinko machine version of it for sure.

Weird how MGS4 was only officially released on ps3 and never ported

Because the Metal Gear franchise is the most 'remakable' of any game out there.

What we need is a planned, full remake cycle... All in the same style of Resident Evil / Final Fantasy's remakes.

PS6 generation 8K/60 - 'Snake Engine'

2029: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

2030: Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

2032: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

2033: Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Square also has not released a FF4-6 collection or FFTactics collection and konami needs more castevania's like the DS ones in a collection too
