Why Konami won't put it's flagship franchise on a Microsoft Console.

theres no guarantee they make more money. it could be a fail in the long run. for example vf5 went to the 360 a couple of months after the p3 version and that was a fail.

you know what i think more fanboyz just want it on the 360 just cuz it will boost sales or so they hope most just want a hot title so they can rub it in other ppls faces i for one will buy it for my ps3 and if it comes to 360 who cares but if it goes to pc ill buy it then too

THIS fanboy isn't afraid of anything accept Sony dominance, 360 failing, hd-dvd failing, and blu-ray dominance. Nintendo and Microsoft dominance are ok though.

That game has to sell 1 million copies on day 1 for them to recoup cost.

No MGS games has ever done that.

you know what tho, neither did mass effect....it sold roughly 300,000...and now look at it...I PROMISE MGS will profit by being exclsive...many of the buddies i have are buying one just for this game...its gonna be big. dont have doughts.

Kojima & his team are one of the best 3rd party dev right now. That`s why exclusivity or profit didn`t bother them. Because they perfection is no.1 for them. And they believe in PS3. They creating MGS4 with PS3 in mind. Not like 3rd class dev ( EA, Ubisoft,....... ). Quantity come first quality later. That`s why they multipat this multiplat that.....

Besides look at last gen. Very large PS2 users didn`t bother Itagaki / Team Ninja to made Ninja Gaiden & DOA3 exclusive for Xbox. Why ? They want their best work to be in the console they prefer. Same with Kojima. That`s why Kojima / Kojima Productions are similar with Itagaki /Team Ninja. Quality first sales later. Except that Itagaki is an @#%$#%$@......

Konami comes from Japan. Not to say that Japanese devs won't go with 360, but I'm sure they check out PS3/PSP and Wii/DS first.

So after looking at this we see a trend. But you might say, "But teh MGS series went multiplat!" I would ask you this. How long did it take for them to go mulitplatform? Regarding Substance on XBOX, We still got it first and ended up getting all that the XBOX got and more on PS2, with a better framerate and better sound.

So we have a few reasons now as to why MGS4 stays on Sony's ship.

1-Konami has strong ties with Sony.
2-Sony is a local company to Konami (japan).
3-Because MGS3 totally went multiplatform now didn't it?
4-Same with Ac!d and MGS:PO. What about the Zone of the Enders series? (not counting the GBA strategy game LOL)

If MGS 4 going to be multiplatform, it is going to be after 1.5 years at least after launch on the PS3 and it wouldn't be developed by Kojima which make it completely inferior, and that is a big IF.

I just want Konami to announce what this untitled RPG for PS3, Im so excited for the announcement of this game, I wish it is the next Suikoden.

I think 3rd party games are a way of the past, but MGS4 is the result of Old money. Things are set in motion that cannot be changed. In the future it will probably be different as development cost will surely keep going up.Darthmatt

definitely, the only way MGS4 is staying exclusive is truckloads of Sony money.

konami alrdy has released its flagship title on the original xbox, mgs2 anyone? to blindly sit here and say mgs4 will never be released on 360 is a waste of time, it probably will happen. exclusives r slowly becoming a rarity, and with sales as abysmal as the ps3's i wouldnt doubt a port to the 360

Because every lemming making fun of this great game, second reason, if they put it in 360, nobody would buy it because of the first reason and look at virtua fighter 5 sales.

He half-asses everything he does for microsoft...hardly a fair comparision when you consider all of his major titles have historically stuck to playstation.

Konami can keep their powerhouse franchises off of the Xbox 360 as long as they like. It's just going to come back and bite them in the end.

While I couldn't care less whether or not MGS4 makes its way to the 360 (seeing as I have a perfectly goodPS3 to play it on) Konami is the one that suffers here. The Xbox 360 has the highest attach rate of any system out right now boasting nearly twenty games that have sold over a million copies to date. Many have been new IPs as well, Capcom has done quite well with its new IPs Dead Rising and Lost Planet. Here we have MGS 4, cominga well known, much loved and highly popular series of games. If it was on the 360 Konami could be looking at tremendously high sales. And before you say "Well MGS 2 was on the Xbox and didn't do well!" the Xbox 360 is not the Xbox. In just two years on the market, it has more than double the number of million sellers and greater mass market appeal.

No matter how loyal Konami is to Sony, they would be almost foolish not to port MGS 4 considering the potential return on their investment.
