[QUOTE="nintendog66"]Games, plain and simple. GAMING handhelds are for GAMES, not multimedia, or web surfing, etc etc. The DS's library completely annihilates the PSPs library, or lack thereof. Also most handhelds games are 2D so the graphics argument is a moot point, specially when the few 3D games control terribly because of the lack of proper input(analog sticks) on the PSP, while on the DS FPS control like a dream thanks to the touchpad. GameAddict0120

lol no psp is not only for media and movies

the ds library is full of shovelware whether you want to admit it or not yes it has alot of good games I give it that but the graphics make most games that are not mario or zelda unplayable (have you checked out the call of duty games on ds ?) I tried to play CoD on ds and my eyes hurt, it's that bad (nintendo needs to get with the time)

at least sony has moved handheld graphics upward instead of putting a pen and double screen on the gameboy advance.

Why exactly are you so focused on graphics? Graphics are just a portion of a game. Not a great portion either. People don't play games just to stare at graphics. (At least i hope not) If you're going to point out flaws you should really be talking about how horrible the analog stick is on the psp.

1 we are in 2010 not 1999 we should move graphics upward

2 I want to feel like I am experiencing whats going on on screen and graphics makes it happen

3 go and play a shooter on the PS1 now and tell me if you can bare the graphics now ? that's the same way DS shooters feel.

I agree. Could you imagine playing BioShock or Metro 2033 using PS1 graphics? The gaemplay might be the same, but the atmosphere would be totally ruined

Every1 the DS is not better sure it has it's usual mario and zelda and then millions of shovelware, sure it has professor layton, Phoenix wright but admit it those games are mostly for kiddies to play instead of opening up a book to read.

Professor Layton feels more like opening a childrens reading book with puzzles inside than playing a real videogame that's just how it is.

It does have tons of quality rpgs, platformers, action games, but most don't sell well, what sells is the Hanna Montana, imagine games and the nintendogs

lol nintendogs

You guys mention how it has more AAA than PSP :D

yes of course it does because the AAA games are reviewed for kids games

seriously when a whole bunch of nintendogs get a 9.1 that's gotta say something about the quality of games that get an AAA on DS

http://www.gamespot.com/search.html?qs=Nintendogs

as for me I don't want nintendogs or hanna montana I want shooters and fighters and real man games i am not a baby or in first grade the ds does not have the games I want.

I and hardcore gamers want God of War, Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, Metal Gear Solid, A better version of Chinatown Wars, Tekken, Final Fantasy, Street Fighter, Twisted Metal.

fightninja162

Phoenix Wright is for children? Have you ever played those games? I know they are rated Teen, but the content at times feels like its pushing the boundries of a Teen rating. Its never graphic, but it does go fairly far especially when you consider every case is a murder.

Where is your proof that only Hanna Montana and those type of games are the only ones that sale? If I remember correctly, Square Enix announced last year that most of their DS games have broken at least the 1 million mark on the DS. Stop acting like no core games sale on the DS sale. Unless you can provide me with proof, then your argument is invalid.

But since we are playing this game, let me ask you a question. How much did China Town Wars, Portable OPS, and Tekken sale on the PSP? Show me these hardcore games that are selling like hotcakes. If you're gonna pay the sales game, it goes both ways.

I do have to commend you however, for cherry picking the AAA DS titles to find the most casual one.

Here, lets me show you some of the real AAA titles on the DS

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars

http://www.gamespot.com/ds/action/grandtheftautochinatownwars/index.html?sid=6206274

Advance Wars: Dual Strike

http://www.gamespot.com/ds/strategy/advancewarsds/index.html?sid=6131573

Final Fantasy IV

http://www.gamespot.com/ds/rpg/finalfantasyiv/index.html?sid=6193622

The World Ends with You

http://www.gamespot.com/ds/rpg/wonderfulworld/index.html?sid=6189661

Shin Megami Tensi: Devil Survior

http://www.gamespot.com/ds/rpg/megamiibunrokudevilsurvivor/index.html?sid=6212005

Are you honestly going to tell me that none of those are "hardcore" games?

The DS has plenty of "hardcore" franchises like Final Fantasy(why do you pretend this series is not on the DS?), Dragon Quest, Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, Resident Evil, Demintium, Contra 4(You can't get more hardcore then this game), Sonic Rush, Fire Emblem, Advance Wars, The World Ends With You, Chrono Trigger, Kingdom Hearts, Chinatown Wars.Shin Megami Tensi and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

I can respect that you prefer fighters and shooters, and those are two genres that have a poor showing on the DS. But stop acting like the DS has nothing the way of quality franchises for hardcore gamers.

As much as I appreciate opposition in debates, sometimes it's just time to stop trying. It's common sense that DS > PSP in every way (except when it comes to useless non gaming features)

Unlike every single other person here, I like the console-type games on the PSP.

I think the point of the PSP on the get go was to have a console experience on the go, which it does better than everything else.

Those suffering with low battery life should try playing on a lower brightness when they're out and about.

Those complaining about sound quality should get better headphones.

Those complaining about the games should go back to playing their DSs.

Please tell me some reason how come more people prefers NDS?

tekken220
I think it's because most of the people who prefer handhelds over consoles are kids, and that most of the good games for the PSP are too violent for them.

Sure?

I think what makes the PSP not look so good is that in emulating the console experience, it will inevitably be compared to the console experience, a comparison which doesn't favor it. The DS doesn't have to deal with a comparison like that.

One of its most high-profile DS games, Dragon Quest IX sold over four million copies in Japan alone, a new record for the franchise. It has a dedicated, and "hardcore" fanbase.

games games and more games, and the PSP analog is really poor

I love how "the PSP's analogue is poor" is a detriment to the PSP, despite the DS having no such animal on it. At least the PSP tried to include an analogue stick (and don't give me "touch controls make up for its absence", they don't).

I can't believe I forgot about Dragon Quest IX's sales. Hell, that one alone blows massive holes in the theory that only shovelware and casual games sale well on the DS.

And let's not forget the FF and DQ remakes, which SE themselves have said broke the one million mark.

And people say core games don't sale on the DS:roll:

Dragon Quest IX alone has sold more then most of the PSP's exclusives. And it hasn't even arrived in the West yet.

The PSP is way better have you seen the graphics of little Big Planet in action wow it's almost like the console version. (I just bought the game today)

There's so many good psp games and no matter how ds fans don't like it trying to be a console is a good thing it's much better than trying to be a coloring book.

Name one handheld device from 2001 that had similar graphics to PSP today. You are a PC gamer, I can understand a PC from 2001 can beat PSP graphics, but you have to understand that handheld devices have smaller chipsets and need to have lower voltages in order to save battery life. Wake me up next time your high-end desktop PC can fit in your pocket and can run for 5 hours on a small lithium battery.

I was more hyped for the PSP than the DS when they first came out, but the DS is just a much more rewarding hand-held. On the PSP, too often it feels like your playing a reduced version of a console game. Basically the same game but with worse graphics, worse controls etc. With the DS every game feels like it is designed specifically to play on a hand-held. nintendo just seem to 'get' handheld gaming in a way that Sony don't. Ultimately it comes down to games though, and the DS has the deeper and higher quality library. I'm no Ninty fanboy btw, the Wii is the worst console I have ever owned by far, and I had a Saturn :)

Therefore, the PSP does not exist.

The Legend of Zelda games do extremely well without the analog. One can say they do even more with the touch screen than they could ever have with the analog. It depends on the game, but either way, you're wrong.

The controls on the DS allow for a larger range of gameplay. You can have the users who don't like touch controls play standard games. Though then there are a number of games which only work on the DS because of the controls. Yes you can copy games like Brain Age, but without the controls it will not be as good. In my opinion Moon has some of the best FPS controls on a handheld. Again something which would not have worked without the touch controls.

Better games to play. No looooooooooog loading times. Interactivity. Better grip. Better controls. Nintendo being the handheld leader for the past two decades. Thats why.

The PSP is way better have you seen the graphics of little Big Planet in action wow it's almost like the console version. (I just bought the game today)

There's so many good psp games and no matter how ds fans don't like it trying to be a console is a good thing it's much better than trying to be a coloring book.

soulitane

If that picture is a proper representation of what the game looks like, then it looks atrocious. Personally I prefer the more cartoon like look of ds games.

you have to see it in gameplay to see it's true beauty here enjoy

They should just release all the PSP games on the PS2 and forget about the handheld. I bet you they will sell more.

I love my PSP. I find myself playing it a lot more than my DS. It's an amazing piece of hardware.

I agree. Once you get used to it, the analog stick on the PSP isn't bad at all (especially on the 3000 model. That thing is nice and smooth).

No, touch screen is WORSE controls if you close your eyes and don't look at it.

Fixed. Touch screen controls can be a pain at times, but TWEWY demonstrates that touch screen games done correctly are better than any analog nub controls. And MPH controls better than any PSP FPS. To me, DS touch controls range from "meh" (Zelda games) to outstanding (TWEWY). I felt PSP analog nub controls ranged from sub-par (GOW and Crisis Core) to pretty bad (MGS: PO).

metal gear peace walker will own everything on nds that will be a fact

in the beginning i wouldve said yea the ds was better then the psp but now ever since 2008 it has a better library of games it just needs more jrpgs

RiddleMeThat

If it's anything like Portable Ops, no thanks. That game sucked hard. Zelda: Phantom Hourglass >>>>>>>> The entire PSP library. Fact.

That's going a bit too far. IMO MGS: Portable Ops was better than any DS game but the PSP doesn't have very many games but the DS has a ton of good games. That's why I prefer DS.

Hardware-wise yeah, but software sales are dead.
