Before i get into a theory of how its bad, heres how its good...
its innovative and has expanded the market, i must admit, to a more casual gaming audience to be open to the idea of gaming.
Its fun and easy to use unlike a controller which a non-gamer might not care to learn about due to its complexity.

Now this is why i think its bad..... If it flopped it coulda helped kill nintendo in the console industry.
why would that be a good thing? Like the Dreamcast, nintendo would be a software only company, and like sega, all its franchises might have come on other consoles.
basically wed have one less console to get to play exclusives.
Instead of a somewhat annoying 3-console fight, wed have 2...
we must have 2 BTW, once console is no good for competition, it would be ideal to only have to buy one console but that will mean that console will have a monopoly on prices and such.

Thats just my theory, one less console would be nice....

But i guess in the long run, the innovation (which i admit is not as much as a cool thing to me) might be better than anything else.

I don't care what people say i have had alot of fun with the wii. all the hard core gamings whine about it " bu bu teh online" go buy a pc cus consoles stink compared to them for online gaming . " bu bu teh graphics" go watch a blu ray movie looks far better then any video game . if anything 360 is bad for the market. its only aiming at hard core gamers. meaning its leaving everyone els out . try finding a game a teenage girl would want to play on 360. other then kameo i really dont see anything els .

wow nice way of trying to take my post, i said there should be competition up there, just 2 would be better than 3. And nintendo can still be innovative in the software division just as in the hardware.

Except there is one problem. Nintendo would never dev for another console even if they were kicked out the console race. They would be handheld exclusive. Nintendo even stated they'd refuse to ever do such a thing. And why should it be Nintendo? Why not Sony or Microsoft? They are more of the same while Nintendo is always being different.

Remember when Nintendo released it's N64 with the thumb stick? People were saying the exactly same thing about that and look what happened...

WRONG.

The more competition, the more the developers and so on compete for our money.

The consumer (us) get all the benefits of more games, cheaper prices, etc.

Your topic makes absolutely no sense. It wreaks of someone who doesn't know how business and commerce works.

nintendo is the only one making alot of money why would they stop making consoles. it would be a sad day if they stope making consoles. nintendo has always been pushing new ways to play. if they leave then eatch gen would be just a hardware upgrade.

fine than. since u boys are such fanboys, what about sony or xbox leaving, i just think nintendo has more valuble exclusives id like to come to my 360 or ps3. PS3 and 360 first party exclusives are nothing compared to nintendos, (and a lot of them are technically 3rd party produced by first party). I just think the good exclusives should be out in the open and not restricted to one console.

Get a clue. Fanboys? Haha seriously man. Nobody would be willing to sacrifice the innovation and creativity just for Nintendo games to end up on Sony and Microsoft consoles. I'm sorry but Sony and MS are more of the same. Nintendo is different. Wii is only $250 its not that big a chunk of change just to go out and buy one.

It's a nice idea, but wishful thinking. And i wouldn't like if any of the nintendo competition left, it wouldn't push nintendo as much if it didn't have much competition. Take a look at how many 1st party games the wii has gotten.. damn. That's a lot.

Hell even home consoles help the competition for pc gamers (i am a wii/pc gamer). If it weren't for the 500000 home console games that come out every year, pc gamers wouldn't see so many great titles too.

Basically TC, are you saying that Nintendo should go into the software business just so there would be two consoles instead of three? That would be like telling Toyota to stop making cars so there would be less choice and variety for consumers. Nintendo has been making consoles since video gams established themselves as more then just a fad ... they have lasted through hardware, even when companies like Sega and Atari have failed.

I can also vaigly remember a rep from Nintendo during the GC-era saying that the day Nintendo stops making home consoles would be the day they exit the industry all-togeather.

so what exactly would happen to titles like zelda and metroid prime in that situation, those are the only 2 titles im interested in and think can make a good transition to other consoles. But its not less choice if u can choose to buy the games in other systems, idont would much rather have 2 consoles in this world than 3. thats just me i got both n64 and ps1 and both xbox and ps2 and i dont want to have 3 consoles in my damn dorm, and i find the wii bar annoying.

i wonder how this thread would have went if i said sony or MS instead of nintendo as the company id like to see go...

Again, if sony or MS leave, its no value to the overall gaming market cause their first party titles are crap compared to nintendo. IF sony or ms leave, nothing will really come out on the software side.... if nintendo leaves, we may get its great first party titles.

THis is in assumption that if one had to leave the industry, which one would be the best to leave. Although i can also argue taht it could be ps3 or 360 since there both interchangable as a console whereas the wii is on a league of its own.

True, it would be no less choice if the games were made multiplat for the games itself ... but Nintendo have already stated that they would rather close up shop then go down the 'Sega' path ...

Basicly what you're saying is..

Next week in System Wars..

Exclusives shouldn't be exclusive at all..

Or

Exclusivesto become avaliable on all systems....

Is this what you're saying?

Three is the magic number i say.
With two, there isn't much of a competition at all, especially if, and that's a big IF, the two would provide a different approach to gaming.
Probably everyone would own both, or the consoles would apply to such a seperated audience that they each practically have a monopoly towards their own audience.

Nintendo's not likley to go down over PS3 and 360. They've been around for like a hundred years as a company, and they have piloted most of the major innovations to the video game industry, a lot of which have become standard.

EDIT: Ninty was formed in 1889. They started making game cards and even opened a love hotel :P

Sony would do better in a software only state

nintendo has stated that there console exclusives would never go to any other console

nintendo was the first, it will be the last.
