You do not need to buy anything to play the games. You already own it. (And don't try to post denying that you have a pc and somehow your post 'magically' got on the internet.)

consoles last about 7 years, costing about a 1 time price for the console, then some controllers
from that point the only TRUE thing u need to buy, is games
a good pc can be fairly expensive, every 4 or 5 years u need to upgrade drastically, in the long run consoles are cheaper.. but for any mmo, fps, rts.. pc is far superior
me personally, i have an extremely good pc, i look foward to playing crysis when it comes out, but i also own a wii and ps3 (u see, i already meet the requirements for crysis, and i had the requirements for it years ago, the only thing im going to do is upgrade my video card, but its going to be free because my bro wants a new one and im getting his old nvidia 6800)

Of course I can. Its a toaster.
Even I who so firmly believes that the PC is the best platform must concede to the fact that a good PC is not cheap.
But, I also believe you get what you pay for.

Cevat Yerli said a Q6600 and an 8800GTX would max the game out at no more than 1280x1024 resolution. He failed to specify how many FPS that would be. But you're right, we shall see.

I would have argued for free online service, games at significantly cheaper prices (usually $40 at launch and quickly dropping to the $30 range). Greater longetivity, and the cheapness of upgrading. My pc is set for atleast 2 years and then one 300 dollar upgrade will buy me another 3 years, which with the amount of games I buy, I save that amount of money on the cheapness of the games at retail price in comparison to console games.
Also, mods extend the life of games tremendously and the quality of rpgs and shooters on the pc which is what lemmings seem to value for the most part is significantly higher. Halo is a joke to the pc community with good reason, because all the firsts Halo 3 is doing for console mp are things that have been standard for 10 years now on the pc....poor thread...
Yeah... can mine play any of the latest games? nah...OGTiago
So you should have used that 360 money on upgrades.

I agree, and would actually go as far as to say he could have probably built a similar pc for less. Also the pc in my sig costed 500 and in a couple years I will need to upgrade the gpu and psu, but that still will cost no more then a console. And the rig in my sig maxes every game I have thrown at it including Bioshock, World in Conflict, Oblivion, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Stranglehold, etc...etc...etc... and coupled with mods, these games look generations ahead of console games already. S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Half-life 2, Quake 4, Oblivion and what not are unbelievable on my 42" 1080p aquos.
This rig and gaming on this rig has re-hermitized me, and result in the selling off of my ps3, 360, and wii, because the wii just isnt hardcore friendly at all (DS is enough for me for casual games), all the good 360 games have better pc counterparts, and the ps3 is a dust collecting blu-ray player which while nice is not the main purpose I bought it for.
I think everyone should be a pc gamer frankily, make the huge community even bigger =D! The more the merrier.

No, Alpha is a very very early build of the game. Beta is working out the bugs and is representitive of performance. Don't expect retail to suddenly perform twice as efficiently and double your FPS. At the most, performance would increase in a single digit percent.
Anyway, he said he believes that an 8800GTS will run it at maximum settings. As in, he doesn't know for certain.
When retail comes out and websites start doing benchmarks, then we'll see. But don't get your hopes up that your hardware will give you all you want out of Crysis.

Well when I am done with medschool I will be doing something similar, but for now 2x top notch directx 9.0 cards give me graphics vastily superior to consoles and not discernable from directx 10 in most cases so I dont care. The reason I plan to get atleast a new card in 2 years is because I think by then there will be a larger pool of games where it makes a discernable difference. But for UT3, Fallout 3, SC2, Bioshock, and Gears, which are the games I really care about, this rig will do just fine. And it runs all my games over 60 frames, even Bioshock. I am just saying that for the SP experience of crysis 45 would be fine by me.

I dont know if i'm necroing this thread but that is not correct at all. Betas are never representitive of peformance, this is commonly known that even Fileplanet(which whores out all the betas) states it in their FAQ. I'm confident that my 8800GTX will give me good FPS tho.
excerpt:
What is a Beta?
A beta is a pre-release test of a game. This is when the Developer needs your help to squish any game bugs. This is pre-demo as well. So it is in fact the rawest form of the game.
Keep your expectations in check. It is by no means meant to exemplify what you can expect in the actual game. You are being called upon to do a job, to intentionally break the game so they can ensure the final product is the best it can be!
This is also why we encourage you to comply with the requests of the Developer. They need you to help them test, not just demo the game and judge. It's time to help your fellow gamers and give it your all!

I'm not saying this is indicitive of how Crysis will perform, but it gives you a nice representation.
you really compare it like that...WIC is an RTS....they dont need to run at a high framerate....in fact many pepole consider 15FPS, or 20FPS to be good enough to play an RTS smoothly.
