1. Sony consoles ALWAYS sell best in Europe. In UK PSP is beating DS, and Europe bought the most PS2s, more than US
Kårstein: Europe is not just UK, and its very hard to get accurate figures for the entire continent of Europe. But I know here in Norway the DS is beating PSP. Just like America and Japan consumers can change their preferances for consoles, so can european consumers, as so many has said DS =/= Wii and PS2 =/= PS3
2. PS3 games are CHEAPER than 360 and Wii games in Europe, at only £40, while Wii games are £50 and 360 games are £60
Kårstein: Where have you gotten this information from? How can publishers reduce the price for PS3 so much compared to other regions and expect to make up the profit. If this was true it would actually be bad news for PS3, can you imagine how many more copies of a game you would need to sell to make a profit compared to making the game on 360? instead? Oh and I dont know the prices over at UK :P
3. 1 million PS3s are being shipped to the UK alone on launch day. A reason Wii sales are starting to dwindle is because people are fed up with waiting to get one, this will not be the case with PS3, it will be easy to get, attracting casuals
Kårstein: Havent seen any report on this, so please direct us to it. And remember again UK is not the same as the whole continet of Europe.
4. On average Europeans earn more money than Americans, so $600 seems like nothing to them
Kårstein: Yes we do, but our taxes are higher to. And since taxes on merchandise is calculated in percentage of the prise of the product then the prize-difference is even larger between PS3 and the others. Dont think that Europeans cant tell the difference in price please.
5. RFoM is a Brittish game with Brittish voice acting. UK gamers will see this and will like the game
Kårstein: I can safely say that UK, and the rest of Europe, dont really care much if the voice actors are british or not.
6. Seing as though most Europeans own a PS2 and PS1, they will not be put down by the slightly worst BC
Kårstein: We know we are getting ripped of, we just dont know by how much yet. But consumers who know they are getting ripped of is not happy consumers
7. Only the 60GB model will be available there, so Sony wont have to waste time making 2 kinds, meaning more supply.
Kårstein: Thats a very original way to spin that. Many gamers are angry because we have a higher prioce here and we dont even get the option to buy the less expensive one. Ad to the fact that HD-TV`s are WAY less common in Europe then in America so the 20GB one would suit us better then for America. And the fact that I have not seen any stores here in Bergen in Norway that sells HD-DVD- and Blu-Ray-players or movies for any of the format, then why would we buy it for the Blu-Ray player abilety? :?
