1. Sony consoles ALWAYS sell best in Europe. In UK PSP is beating DS, and Europe bought the most PS2s, more than US

2. PS3 games are CHEAPER than 360 and Wii games in Europe, at only £40, while Wii games are £50 and 360 games are £60

3. 1 million PS3s are being shipped to the UK alone on launch day. A reason Wii sales are starting to dwindle is because people are fed up with waiting to get one, this will not be the case with PS3, it will be easy to get, attracting casuals

4. On average Europeans earn more money than Americans, so $600 seems like nothing to them

5. RFoM is a Brittish game with Brittish voice acting. UK gamers will see this and will like the game

6. Seing as though most Europeans own a PS2 and PS1, they will not be put down by the slightly worst BC

7. Only the 60GB model will be available there, so Sony wont have to waste time making 2 kinds, meaning more supply.

I believe a lot of people over there are feeling ripped off since they have to pay more, but get less than their American/Japanese counterparts.

Course I'm sure that doesn't change your fortune telling.

  1. Actually, no. The DS is selling more all over europe
  2. As far as i know, wii games are also £40
  3. Link to wii sales dwindling? And the price will sacre alot of people away
  4. With the exchange, the ps3 is more expensive in europe
  5. That won't make any difference
  6. What about the people who never owned one? Or how about the people who sell their ps2's to afford a ps3?
  7. The higher price of the model they are selling could hurt them quite a bit

$800 bucks isn't alot of money to Europeans? Are the Europe I know the the Europe you know the same place?

No matter how you slice it, the ps3 is pricey.

(By the way, the image in my sig describes my sentiments pretty well)

1. Sony do dominate Europe, true, but from latest figures I believe the DS is selling better than the PSP atm.

2. No idea if that's true but if it is wow, nice job Sony.

3. Wii sales aren't declining significantly in the UK.

4. $600 is a lot to most consumers, worldwide. It won't sell well until the top notch games that made the PS2 such a big success come out.

5. Probably true.

6. I kind of agree with that too but BC should be fixed soon.

7. I've always thought the 60gb should be the only version available everywhere. It's evident by the low sales of the 20gb version that consumers want the "best" version of the PS3.

Sony will still more than likely dominate Japan. I highly doubt the Japanese will pass up the option to play FFXIII.

1. Sony consoles ALWAYS sell best in Europe. In UK PSP is beating DS, and Europe bought the most PS2s, more than US   The ds in the u.k is absolutely raping the psp in sales, it was selling around 500k a week on the lead up to xmas and they were selling for £200 on ebay.

2. PS3 games are CHEAPER than 360 and Wii games in Europe, at only £40, while Wii games are £50 and 360 games are £60

wrong again, wii games are £39.99 and 360 games are £49.99

3. 1 million PS3s are being shipped to the UK alone on launch day. A reason Wii sales are starting to dwindle is because people are fed up with waiting to get one, this will not be the case with PS3, it will be easy to get, attracting casuals

That makes no sense whatsoever

4. On average Europeans earn more money than Americans, so $600 seems like nothing to them

The thing is that its over $1000 in the u.k

5. RFoM is a Brittish game with Brittish voice acting. UK gamers will see this and will like the game

ROFL that is stupidity at its greatest, it has brittish voices so they must like it

6. Seing as though most Europeans own a PS2 and PS1, they will not be put down by the slightly worst BC

Most europeans has a sega megadrive yet bought a ps1

7. Only the 60GB model will be available there, so Sony wont have to waste time making 2 kinds, meaning more supply.

They are also taking away important parts of the console and making it crapper because they are desperate to save money on the console because its failing miserably.

360 games are 50 pounds not 60 you nub.

Wii games are 40 not 50.

The rest is baseless speculation by an obvious Sony fanboy.

1. They always sell best in Japan too, right? :) 2. And? Look at how much the hardware is going for. 3. Incorrect. 1 million are supposedly (this is Sony we're talking about) being shipped to the entirety of Europe, including the UK. 4. The PS3 isn't $600 in the UK, genius. Contrary to popular belief, the UK is not part of the US. 5. Desperate argument. 6. Most Europeans own a PS2 and PS1? :| Yea, ok. 7. It will increase the number of 60GB PS3s, but not PS3s in general.

PS3 was supposed to ship 1 million to the US too, and that fell apart. PS2 online was supposed to be like jakcing into the matrix. The PSP was supposed to conquer the market, and the DS was a cheap gimmick that wouldn't sell. The 360 was desinged to fight the PS2.The Wii is a Novelty, despite the fact it sells 2.5 times more than PS3.The PS3 can do 120FPS, dual screens, at 1080p, in 4D.

1. Sony consoles ALWAYS sell best in Europe. In UK PSP is beating DS, and Europe bought the most PS2s, more than US. Cant argue with that although it lacks links/Proof.

2. PS3 games are Exactly the same price except for a few first party games as 360 but not Wii games in the UK, at only £50, while Wii games are £40 and 360 games are £50

3. 1 million PS3s are being shipped to the UK alone on launch day. A reason Wii sales are starting to dwindle is because people are fed up with waiting to get one, this will not be the case with PS3, it will not be easy to get because it will be attracting casuals.  Again lacks fact.

4. On average Europeans earn more money than Americans, so $600 seems like nothing to them. You have your currency translations mixed up, were all on the dole one way or another.

5. RFoM is a Brittish game with Brittish voice acting. UK gamers will see this and will like the game. Completely false 2000% Why would I think that? I think I speak for 99.99999%  of Britain when I say that.

6. Seeing as though most Europeans own a PS2 and PS1, they will not be put down by the slightly worse BC. Seriously who cares about BC???

7. Only the 60GB model will be available there, so Sony wont have to waste time making 2 kinds, meaning more COST to produce.

Europeans don't make more than Americans.  They also pay higher taxes.  The PS3 is more expensive in Europe than in America in both relative and absolute values.

1. psp may outsell ds in the united kingdom, but all of europe i don't think so. or for that matter the 17 million to 35 million gap.

2. If they're willing to pay the excessive ps3 price then game prices shouldn't matter

3. to say demand will go down coz demand is too high is stupid. if the demand is too high then that means it outweights supply and as long as it  does that then  well, it would be bigger than demand and thats all that matters. who cares what two impatient french men think?

4. true. europeans do make more money. don't they need licenses for every electronic appliance? isn't gaming in general looked more down upon there then here?

5. yes, games sell well and people buy systems coz of voice acting. no way.

6. won't alot of them trade in there old ps2's and ps1's for the ps3 and keep the non-compadible games? furthermore isn't buying it suppose to be replacing the latter two generations.

7. yes that 20 GB model is stupid. you can't even upgrade it.

Im curious as to where you got this foolish bogus information from... the DS is raping the PSP worldwide Wii Games are actually cheapest at around £30. Whereas I've seen XBOX360 games for 49.99 and have heard PS3 will cost the same... the PS3 will be easy to get because noone will want it. All the casuals have, or want Wii's... Im from the UK, £450 is ALOT to me($600) a Fable game is being released for 360, british game with british voice acting. the other 2 points are void entirely, on account of them not making sense.

Very true. I didnt care about the leap from buying £30 xbox and ps2 games to £50 360 games.

3. to say demand will go down coz demand is too high is stupid. if the demand is too high then that means it outweights supply and as long as it  does that then  well, it would be bigger than demand and thats all that matters. who cares what two impatient french men think?
Demand goes up, supply goes down = MASSIVE price + Guaranteed sales.

4. true. europeans do make more money. don't they need licenses for every electronic appliance? isn't gaming in general looked more down upon there then here?
The fact that GTA SA was made in Scotland?  America doesn't own the world you know.

1. Sony consoles ALWAYS sell best in Europe. In UK PSP is beating DS, and Europe bought the most PS2s, more than US

Kårstein: Europe is not just UK, and its very hard to get accurate figures for the entire continent of Europe. But I know here in Norway the DS is beating PSP. Just like America and Japan consumers can change their preferances for consoles, so can european consumers, as so many has said DS =/= Wii and PS2 =/= PS3

2. PS3 games are CHEAPER than 360 and Wii games in Europe, at only £40, while Wii games are £50 and 360 games are £60

Kårstein: Where have you gotten this information from? How can publishers reduce the price for PS3 so much compared to other regions and expect to make up the profit. If this was true it would actually be bad news for PS3, can you imagine how many more copies of a game you would need to sell to make a profit compared to making the game on 360? instead? Oh and I dont know the prices over at UK :P

3. 1 million PS3s are being shipped to the UK alone on launch day. A reason Wii sales are starting to dwindle is because people are fed up with waiting to get one, this will not be the case with PS3, it will be easy to get, attracting casuals

Kårstein: Havent seen any report on this, so please direct us to it. And remember again UK is not the same as the whole continet of Europe.

4. On average Europeans earn more money than Americans, so $600 seems like nothing to them

Kårstein: Yes we do, but our taxes are higher to. And since taxes on merchandise is calculated in percentage of the prise of the product then the prize-difference is even larger between PS3 and the others. Dont think that Europeans cant tell the difference in price please.

5. RFoM is a Brittish game with Brittish voice acting. UK gamers will see this and will like the game

Kårstein: I can safely say that UK, and the rest of Europe, dont really care much if the voice actors are british or not.

6. Seing as though most Europeans own a PS2 and PS1, they will not be put down by the slightly worst BC

Kårstein: We know we are getting ripped of, we just dont know by how much yet. But consumers who know they are getting ripped of is not happy consumers

7. Only the 60GB model will be available there, so Sony wont have to waste time making 2 kinds, meaning more supply.

Kårstein: Thats a very original way to spin that. Many gamers are angry because we have a higher prioce here and we dont even get the option to buy the less expensive one. Ad to the fact that HD-TV`s are WAY less common in Europe then in America so the 20GB one would suit us better then for America. And the fact that I have not seen any stores here in Bergen in Norway that sells HD-DVD- and Blu-Ray-players or movies for any of the format, then why would we buy it for the Blu-Ray player abilety? :?

@the TC. did you even play resistance? the british screw things up, and an american has to come in to prevent everything from spreading to the US.

i would think the british would hate playing the bumbling fools who need an american to save them, just my thoughts,  although they might be like the french :P

also, i can't help but notice that you said They a lot. i am sure you know exactly how they feel about the ps3 from your basement in middle america

[QUOTE="Nagidar"]BTW, I remember before the PS3 was launched, everyone was sayin, "Japan belongs to SONY, they will domiate there." Look what happened.the-very-best

Sony will still more than likely dominate Japan. I highly doubt the Japanese will pass up the option to play FFXIII.

Just curious but do anyone know what the attach-ratio for FF-games to PS2`s in Japan? I know they love FF, but I want to know how many bought them to figure out how much impact it may have in sales of PS3`s.

PS3 was supposed to ship 1 million to the US too, and that fell apart. PS2 online was supposed to be like jakcing into the matrix. The PSP was supposed to conquer the market, and the DS was a cheap gimmick that wouldn't sell. The 360 was desinged to fight the PS2.The Wii is a Novelty, despite the fact it sells 2.5 times more than PS3.The PS3 can do 120FPS, dual screens, at 1080p, in 4D.
mathew952

Sony has already confirmed they have shipped 1 million to Europe.

[QUOTE="Jondommy"]Im curious as to where you got this foolish bogus information from... the DS is raping the PSP worldwide Wii Games are actually cheapest at around £30. Whereas I've seen XBOX360 games for 49.99 and have heard PS3 will cost the same... the PS3 will be easy to get because noone will want it. All the casuals have, or want Wii's... Im from the UK, £450 is ALOT to me($600) a Fable game is being released for 360, british game with british voice acting. the other 2 points are void entirely, on account of them not making sense.martin_f

Just pointing out GTA SA and the GTA Stories for PSP made in Scotland (in Edinburugh SP?), High sales in America???

Didnt you Sony sheeple say the PS3 was gonna rule NA and Japan when it came out, too? Now its, "wait till it comes out in Europe, wait till *2008* (damn, you have to wait years from launch for the PS3 to be any good! ) wait till this, wait till that..."  Stop your rubbish!

FF sales at least 2 million copies the day it comes out.

InfamousC
I know that, but I just wondered what the total sales where for the Japanese FF games, and compare it with Japanese PS2 sales. But I did a bit of digging myself. Total Sales of PS2 in Japan: 24.76 million http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/data/bizdataps2_e.html I couldnt find the current FFX sales, except for US sales from vgcharts wich is 2.22 million. http://vgcharts.com/page4.html So we`ll just have to speculate from the numbers that I did find. After half a year in Japan and a month in America, then FFX has sold more then 4 million copies. http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/rpg/finalfantasy10/news.html?sid=2843955 From Wikipedia we only get only the launch numbers. [QUOTE="Wikipedia"]Reception Final Fantasy X's reception was largely positive, with high sales figures and critical acclaim from the gaming industry. The game sold 90% of its initial 2,140,000-unit shipment — 1,926,000 units — within just the first four days of release in Japan, having already sold between 1.4 million and 1.5 million copies in pre-orders.[34] These figures exceeded the performances of Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy VII in a comparable period,[35] and Final Fantasy X became the first PlayStation 2 game to reach sales totals of 2 million and 4 million copies.[36][37] Once among the top twenty best-selling console games of all time, as of March 2006, the game's consistent sales have earned it the position of the second best-selling Final Fantasy game. As of July 2006, the game has been rated the US market's 11th best selling game of the 21st century,[38] and was nominated for the 6th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards for animation and console role-playing game of the year in 2003.[39]

http://www.answers.com/topic/final-fantasy-x#wp-_note-PS22million Wich puts it at 1,926,000 after four days and most likely the entire shipment soon after. The problem we have here is that we dont know how much was sold the first months in America, but we can be generous and say about 500.000 in america, seeing as Americas total sale was 2.22 Million this should not be to big of a figure. Wich leaves 3.5 million wich is a very generous figure. Now by this time PS2 had sold 8.95 million in Japan wich is seen on the link above. This leaves us with an attach-ratio of (3.5 million/8.95 million) 0.39%. Wich is very good for any game but it is much less then half the PS2 owners. Now if we look at FFXII then here is what Wikipedia has to say about sale-numbers: [QUOTE="Wikipedia"]Reception Final Fantasy XII sold 1,764,266 copies on its first week in Japan, almost equaling the sales of Final Fantasy X in its first week.[24] The total number of copies sold stood at 2,150,671 after five weeks of release.[25] A Square-Enix conference report stated that Final Fantasy XII has sold more than 2.38 million copies in Japan as of May 24, 2006.[26] Final Fantasy XII has shipped 1.5 million copies in North America as of November 6, 2006, one week after its October 31st release.[27]

http://www.answers.com/topic/final-fantasy-xii The end of May the had sold more then 2.38 million in Japan, lets begenerous and say 2.4 million. By March 2006 PS2 had sold 23.27 million (again link above). This gives us an attach-ration of 0.1% Now the point of all this is to figure out how important Final Fantasy is to the Japanese market, and try to theorise how Final Fantasy will impact sales for PS3 in Japan and for this generation of consoles. Now we all know very well that it is important title, but from what we can see here is that it isnt Final Fantasy that has sold such an incredible ammount of PS2`s, since sales from FFX-FFXII is very comparable, and do not seem to grow very much, even though PS2`s sales have grown to 24.76 million. The question is what game beside Final Fantasy will help the PS3 to again become the leading brand in Japan that so many Cows are hoping for? *Side-Note: Sorry for taking so long, it was harder then I thought to find the current sale-numbers **Another-note: Maybe I should have made this into a seperate topic...

1. You're wrong. Since launch - January 07, these are the sales in Europe for PSP/DS: PlayStation Portable United Kingdom: 795,000 France: 500,000 Germany: 350,000 Spain: 295,000 Other Regions: 500,000 Total: 2,450,000 units since first released in September 2005. Nintendo DS United Kingdom: 1,000,000 France: 750,000 Germany: 520,000 Spain: 425,000 Other Regions: 1,005,000 Total: 3,700,000 units since first released in March 2005. DS wins. PSP loses. Also, I might like to add that according to I4U News, since the Wii launch in Europe, it has sold 700,000 consoles; when launch occured, 50,000 were sold in 12 HOURS. 2) I have no idea where you got this information. Maybe you made it up, but I doubt that they would sell Blu-Ray discs for a mere 40 Euros. 3) I doubt that that 425 Euro price tag is gonna attract customers to it.. 4) This is ridiculous. First off, America is still the richest country in the WHOLE world. We make the most money, we have the highest consumer benefits, companies always ship to us, and we have the least corrupt government (well, not maybe LEAST corrupt now that we have Bush running the US :)). I don't see how Europeans make more money that US citizens. 5) This is pure speculation. I don't think people will eat it up for the voice acting. 6) Just because they owned a PS1 and PS2 doesn't mean they'll get a PS3. More Europeans are interested in the Wii. 7) This is bad news, as that means that the Europeans can't buy the cheaper version like most Americans did. Also, the Xbox 360 Premium package costed 279 Euros... The Core version costed only 216 Euros. ( I am spelling out Euro as I don't have European characters.) In the end, as opposed to the 425 Euro cost of the PS3, most people will definitely get a 360 or a Wii (if they can manage to find one), due to the cheaper price. You are the weakest link. Goodbye!

Nah, all Cows are like this: Make a stupid post, lose, come back a few days later, make another stupid post, lose, etc.
