I got the original GTAIII for PS2, so do not need remasters for PS4. I also got GTA Vice City, SA, Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories for PS2.
And I still enjoy playing them on PS2.
Why buy these remasters when you have the original? Especially since these remasters have not been remastered at all.
not only that but this remaster has ps3 graphics.
they must of held this game off of the ps3 until they could release the last guardian. now that it came out now they are finally releasing this saved ps3 remaster.
its not a remaster its the ps2 game running through some shit emulation

because i want to play it a different way xbox version is the way to go because of the raindrops
the PS3 had an excellent PS1/PS2 catalog, and I thought it absurd Sony wouldn't work to try to honor rights and keep the library intact on PS4 and build off the library they created, instead they thought it better to start from scratch, probably because they wanted to use trophies and emulation enhancements as a reason to raise prices all around, and to push their streaming service, and everyone gave them a free pass on this greed that would make EA or Microsoft blush, because all their biggest fanboys cared about they were selling more than Xbox One
Stealth Sony bash thread is fail....
Not really "stealthy" when it was obvious. Bash fail...
What does this have to do with Sony? Sounds more like a Rockstar problem.
It's how Sony set up their system. No BC = therefore re-buying games AGAIN. Unfortunately, Nintendo (as of the Switch), and in some cases, MS are no better. But at least MS has something Sony and Nintendo won't add: BC.
Ps2 classics on Ps4 are shit compared to Microsoft's offerings.
Yep! Thank goodness for BC.

^ going with this as well. It's a shame Sony didn't add emulation.
However, you can't blame Sony for what R* did. They could have made it available for free if you own it on the PS3. But they decided to do a Nintendo here.
Yeah, it's total BS. Normally Sony would offer cross-buy but now it's like, "What? give you games you already purchased on PS3?! Hell no! Just buy it again! Look at all the great perks we're offering like 1080p and trophies! We're in the lead, bitches! Time to get complacent!"
I get not allowing discs to be backward compatible but if we literally own the game already on PS3 then there's no excuse to not make the PS4 version cross-buy.
Yeah, Xbox really set the tone with bc and managing game content. More comfortbale going all digital with MS than with Sony. Will suck if ps4 content doesnt carry forward to future gens.
@nintendoboy16: ok?? The switch library has tons of Wii U remasters and Xbox one has some as well so what’s your issue?
My issue is you trying to skirt blame away from Sony when they deserve it. They are probably the worst offenders in regards to trying to make people buy games they already bought, with Nintendo (as much as I HATE to say it) quickly catching up with the Switch (although given how anti-Nintendo gamers and the industry were with the Wii U, it's justified on their end). MS, for as much shit as they get, is being the most liberal out of all the console makers on this.
Then dont buy it and its Rockstar's game, not Sony. What a stupid thread
Rockstar's game, but it's Sony's method in regards to how they set-up purchases.
@nintendoboy16: you’re reaching so hard lol aren’t ps2 games like 10 bucks on ps4 anyways? Who cares. Beats paying 60 bucks for a game that came out a few years ago like bayonetta or Mario Kart or dkc. Hell even the games that are fully remastered like shadow of the collossus, crash bandicoot, and ratchet and clank are only 40 dollars at launch.
PS4 is an entirely different system than PS3, it’s better and easier for developers to make games for. That’s why it doesn’t have bc
I'm sure glad my PS2 works just fine. What did you do with yours?
have it on ps2 xbox and ps3 just want to try it with ds4

For Sony it's a case of they CAN'T add it....

They do it because they aren't a greedy company LOL
I have quite a few PS2 classics on PS3 and there is no good reason they shouldn't be playable on PS4. Same PSN account was used for purchase.
Stealth Sony bash thread is fail....
Pathetic corporate apologist fails.
There is no reason other than money grab to not let gamers that bought PS2 classics off the PSN store last gen, and Sony is selling them again this gen, not have our purchases carry over.

Architecture.......performance.....
Well, don't then. The PS2 games on PS4 is great for someone like me who no longer owns a working PS2, and I get to play a bunch of games I missed out on. I think the pricing for them is pretty reasonable too for the most part.
@scatteh316: I'm not an expert on emulation, but since the for-sale PS2 classics are running on PS4 via a nice emulator, I'm pretty confident that the PS4 could have full PS1+PS2 BC via emulation with good performance. It's PS3 games that the PS4 is pretty clearly far too underpowered to emulate based on my reading on that issue

Even to this day PC's with massively more powerful CPU's then what PS4 has still can't emulate some PS2 games at playable speeds.
Granted Sony have access to source code and architectural data that the people making the emulator don't have which will give them an advantage, but.... Some games used PS2's Emotion Engine in some funky ass ways and it's these games the emulators won't work with.
A lot of the games that have been emulated had very basic Vector unit utilisation, using these vector units was the key to getting good results from PS2 (Remember they did the T'n'L) - So the the more a game used these the harder emulation becomes.
A lot of the vector code was also hand coded in assembly (Also required to get the best out of PS2) too which makes it even more of a difficult task to get running on x86.
@scatteh316: interesting. I assume this is why the PS3 only had partial BC when it moved to an emulation-based revision over the original 60GB model?
*edit* but still, presumably the PS4 could offer at least that same level of partial PS1-2 BC?

Exactly!
The problem is that the emulator would need a lot of per game optimisations (And PS2 has a lot of games)
Granted a fair amount would just run without issue but it was the big budget AAA/AAAA games that typically used funky coding methods and tricks that would cause a lot of problems.
Could it be done? Of course it could with enough money, time and effort......But is it realistically worth it?
Do you see how Microsoft have it easier??
Lack of BC and emulation is the price Sony are now paying for using custom hardware designs in previous machines.
where do I even begin with this. LOL Not to say it should or could be done. BUT it is not as easy as you think even Microsoft stated that its content holders that allow for games to be sold on new systems. It was talked about here on GS. Sony and Microsoft get paid royalities and it is the content holders that decide the price of the games. Microsoft in a distant second decided to add BC paying for emulation and its been taking a while for the games it has.
Look it was Microsoft in 2013 E3 event that wanted to lock games to only one console and not allow people to loan games. Not game publishers or Sony but Microsoft.
Sony has focused on first party exclusives and NEW IP, that is where their money is going and I praise that decision. I still have my GC,Wii, P2, PS3, XB360 and XB. (only due to limited time have I decided to limit myself to one console this gen and there are more games that I cant even get to due to too many great games out there.)

Sony apologist are sad. There are people who have PS1, PS2, PS3 games running on x86 hardware that has less specs then the PS4 it is runs just fine. The bullshit excuse you are using about custom hardware is complete bullshit my friend. They could easily emulate this shit on the PS4, they don't because it is another revenue stream. It is that damn easy.

Are you aware we are discussing PS2 classics? They are already selling them again on PS4. That is all we are saying. If the game is already running on PS4, and I had bought it on PS3, I shouldn't be charged again for it.
And LMAO at seeing "MS have it easier". It isn't by some unknown blessing. They made it easier by not using proprietary bitch tech and now finally using common tech. And they still give me what I previously bought for FREE.
