Ps2 classics on Ps4 are shit compared to Microsoft's offerings.
@cainetao11: Lol yep... imagine if it was the other way around. They'd be pouncing on MS like a pack of hyenas.
Blind fanboyism at its finest.
@hrt_rulz01: TC and I arent even talking about PS3 games. We're talking about PS2 games that are already on PS4 like Vice City, GTA 3 etc. Iown those on PS3 digitally. If I go to my accounts purchased games list, they are listed but I am charged a second time for downloading them.
not only that but this remaster has ps3 graphics.
they must of held this game off of the ps3 until they could release the last guardian. now that it came out now they are finally releasing this saved ps3 remaster.
1st. Try reading the OP next time (the fact you mention TLG makes me believe you only read the thread title and thought the thread was about the SotC Remake)
2nd. Damn, PS3 must have been really good to be able to do those type of graphics. Even as so, its still better looking then anything on the Switch
Why should I pay for a PS2 classic a second time?
Answer: Sony wants money and want consumers to buy again.

Yep, ridiculous.
Just want to add. There's a Rockstar Humble Bundle on the PC I think, if anyone's interested. Includes most GTA except for the early ones and 5 if I remember.

Yes.....you bought them on PS3....... And they will still work on a PS3.
Nothing more then a fan boy Sony bash.....
@scatteh316: interesting. I assume this is why the PS3 only had partial BC when it moved to an emulation-based revision over the original 60GB model?
*edit* but still, presumably the PS4 could offer at least that same level of partial PS1-2 BC?
Exactly!
The problem is that the emulator would need a lot of per game optimisations (And PS2 has a lot of games)
Granted a fair amount would just run without issue but it was the big budget AAA/AAAA games that typically used funky coding methods and tricks that would cause a lot of problems.
Could it be done? Of course it could with enough money, time and effort......But is it realistically worth it?
Do you see how Microsoft have it easier??
Lack of BC and emulation is the price Sony are now paying for using custom hardware designs in previous machines.
Sony apologist are sad. There are people who have PS1, PS2, PS3 games running on x86 hardware that has less specs then the PS4 it is runs just fine. The bullshit excuse you are using about custom hardware is complete bullshit my friend. They could easily emulate this shit on the PS4, they don't because it is another revenue stream. It is that damn easy.
Show me these videos and these 'people'
And couldn't easily emulate it...... Cell's EIB ring alone has just over 300Gb/s bandwidth.... you can't emulate that.....
I bought gta3 on ps3 and wanted to try it the ds4 but turns out i have to pay again wtf? No trophies too. Look I am alright with ps3 as I prefer it anyway but why does sony do this? I am no fool sony
They do it because they aren't a greedy company LOL
I have quite a few PS2 classics on PS3 and there is no good reason they shouldn't be playable on PS4. Same PSN account was used for purchase.
Architecture.......performance.....
Are you aware we are discussing PS2 classics? They are already selling them again on PS4. That is all we are saying. If the game is already running on PS4, and I had bought it on PS3, I shouldn't be charged again for it.
Lmao at bitches self entitlement attitude...... You bought the game on PS3, the game works on PS3.
To get the game running on PS4 has required work, work is not free.
You are not entitled to free things just because you think you are.

I bought Ninja Gaiden Black digitally on 360 and I didn't have to pay to download it again on X1. Nor, any previous gen game that I paid for on previous Xbox gens that became playable on X1. There is no good reason but greed by Sony.
It took work to make KOTOR and other OG xbox games that were playable on 360 BC to do so on X1. MS isn't charging us that already owned them. Keep choking Yoshida down dude HAHAHAHAHAHA
Totally a punk bitch Sony apologist.

But..but..... Microsoft does it so every one has too...... it's actually really sad that this is what you're using to bash Sony.
And Sony's BC is actually better... hence why you pay for it.

WTF you are choking it down on Sony. No way in hell is Sony's BC better then what Microsoft is doing. There BS is completely free if you own the game and some of the games are enhanced graphics for free. WTF is wrong with you fanboys. Seriously the shit I read on this forum makes me weep for humanity.

As far as I'm aware Microsoft don't offer increased resolutions? And don't offer performance increases across the board?
The PS2 games that are available on PS4 do both.
So Microsoft give it as freebie but you're stuck at the same resolution and frame rate and some times a worse frame rate.
Sony charge you to play PS2 games but offer improved resolution and performance.
Yes.....you bought them on PS3....... And they will still work on a PS3.

See you are wrong and have no damn idea what you are even talking about.
Play hundreds of Xbox 360 games, and now, classic Original Xbox titles on Xbox One. Select Xbox 360 games are Xbox One X Enhanced, leveraging the additional power of the console for higher resolution, 9X the original pixel count, and expanded color details. Experience game franchises across generations and enjoy the titles you own and love at no additional cost. For Xbox 360 games, keep your game saves, add-ons, achievements, and Gamerscore. And with Xbox Live Gold, play multiplayer games with friends across Xbox One and Xbox 360. Xbox One is the only place to play the best games of the past, present and future.
Some games on the Xbox One X are not only enhanced by resolution or performance but have added graphics settings for example Mirror's Edge.
Also the majority of games that come to Xbox One have better performance such as Fallout 3, Mirrors Edge, Red Dead Redemption, Call of Duty games and Bayonetta just for an example:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-vs-xbox-one-backward-compatibility
Also you get vsync turned on every game so it usually fixes the tearing in the majority of games. Some situations the Xbox has some issues emulating the game and you get a little worse performance but that is not norm and you usually get better performance and graphics on the Xbox One platform.
BTW Original Xbox games get a boost for free also:
As IGN notes, playing the Bush-era games on your Xbox One boosts the resolution to 1080p, and offers widescreen support for certain games in addition to system link multiplayer.
You get even higher resolutions on Xbox One X on original Xbox One games and better performance.
ALL OF THIS FOR FREE if you already own the game! So please quit spewing your false narratives and do a little research next time and you say Sony's BC is better ROFLMAO!

This thread is about PS2 games..... And we're talking about OG Xbox games...
But since you bought 360 in to it.... please explain to me how Xbox One S improves 360 games?
What resolution does it run them at? Does it run them at higher frame rates?
What BC experience are 95%+ of Xbox One/S owners getting on 360 titles?
Please enlighten me instead of being selective.....
PS4 BC is the same experience regardless of what PS4 family of console you have....... Now can Microsoft say the same?
But..but..... Microsoft does it so every one has too...... it's actually really sad that this is what you're using to bash Sony.

Yes, the majority of the time you are getting better performance with a locked VSYNC using an Xbox One S on 360 games. So yes you are getting performance increases for free. On the X on some games you are not only getting better performance, but higher resolutions, and better graphics. Again this is all free if you already own the game.
On OG games you are getting 4X the resolution on Xbox One S and 16X the resolution on Xbox One X with performance boost as sell. Again all of this is free if you already own the game.

That resolution increase on X is a pretty expensive extra compared to the S isn't it? So it's not 'Free' by any means......
And it's not a consistent experience for the xbox family either.

Dude I am done with you. I have done pwned your ass to oblivion. You said there are no performance or resolution bumps to BC games on Xbox. I proved you wrong so stop your shit and take the L. The BC program on Xbox is 10 times better then the milking shit Sony does and that is okay. Something Sony does better then Microsoft such as exclusives, but BC Microsoft owns that shit this gen.

Evidently everyone doesn't have to. But it would be pro consumer rather than charging us again. Why are you hiking up your skirt and bending over to defend this corporation for it?
That last line is sig worthy. I'll take the BC that respects I already own the game rather than demanding I pay for it on each PS console.

@samfisher56: you got the game already so play it dude xD I got plenty of disks too and that doesnt give the digital version for free just because I own the disk
I got the original GTAIII for PS2, so do not need remasters for PS4. I also got GTA Vice City, SA, Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories for PS2.
And I still enjoy playing them on PS2.
Why buy these remasters when you have the original? Especially since these remasters have not been remastered at all.
because i want to play it a different way xbox version is the way to go because of the raindrops
So why did you buy the PS3 version?

i prefer ds3 and didnt own a ps4 at the time
@vfighter: Not in my eyes.
I still love to play my 3rd and 4th generation 2D pixelart games (Nes, Megadrive, etc), but early 3D games didn't age well. After playing PS4 for 4 years, going back to PS2, and even PS3 doesn't feel good to me. From pop up, screen tearing, framerates at low 20s, poor animations and even gameplay mechanics, in general games today feel much more polished.
@PAL360: Of course today's games in general feel and look more polished lol, that's what happens when tech advances and you have more and more powerful hardware. And it's your right to not enjoy ps2 or ps3 games now I guess, but that's a pretty shitty position. I play ps2 games all the time, I rarely notice screen tearing, frame drops, etc. Most of the really good games didn't have that stuff, at least not in any noticable way. But you can still find all of that in some ps4/Xone games as well, it's not like it's been all but eliminated lol.
@vfighter: Fair enough, but it's not a shitty position because:
1. I have enjoyed those games and consoles back in their day
2. Between indies and AAAs, good current gen games are coming at an almost daily basis. There are always great games for me to play
Don't get me wrong, i loved and have fantastic memories from every past gen, just happens that i think gaming in general is improving, and nostalgia not always work. Again, except for 2D games, those never age to me.
