[QUOTE="bandicoot89"]

you ppl can say whatever you want, but Natal is gonna be huge. us gamers will be disappointed, maybe, but there are a lot of casual gamers out there who can't wait for it. Of course that will also increase the xbox 360's sales and there'll be a stiff competition between Nintendo and Ms for the final "winner". I'm glad, though, that Nintendo is finally focusing on quality games - look at the 2010 lineup -

II_Seraphim_II

The price will kill it and the fact that you have to won an X360 first THEN buy the natal hardware. Too much work for the casual. Wii is just a buy and you're done package. With Natal its buy, then buy addon, deal and that won't fly.

Before the Wii, I would agree with you. Since the release of the Wii though, "casuals" have become more aware, and much more willing to experience these games. If Natal can deliever on just a fraction of what it is promising than it will be a huge hit.

The possibilites of what Natal can do are pretty ridiculous, though for the most part it is purley speculation. It will be usable by all ages, and mental capacities. Its more than just a new way to play games.

Though at this time, anyone can say what they want, as it is purley speculation.

IMO, natal is the best motion control idea out of the bunch. The Wii controller is ok, but i was hoping for 1-1 movement and it did not deliver. The sony snow cone does not look like it will take off IMO. I just hope they use natal as something like an effect more than the main controller, at least for most games. Maybe stuff like forza using natal to track head movement left and right and moving the camera left and right, stuff like that would be neat. Also, since the current install base does not have natal, and not everyone will get natal, i foresee natal being an "extra" in most games, as in the option to use natal can be turned off.

I haven't exactly seen any love/hate for it, but one thing I can see is a lot of potential with Natal. Don't forget that Natal is compatible with future Xbox systems too, so it may be a good investment.

I see more praise than hate for it. I just don't see why it gets so much praise. To me it seems like an eyetoy.

I don't hate it but I am not one of those who jump on the bandwagon of fanboys. It is good for tech demos and presentations but I don't see how this will work with games effectively, lack of controller is a biggest problem with this. Wii and PS3 motion controllers do work better with games IMO.

fun-da-mental Natal tracks body movement in 3d, along with the fact that normal controller can be used in conjunction with Natal, leading to some awesome ideas for games IMO. The Sony motion controller tracks a ball on a stick in 2d, leading to some cool "swing the sword" minigames and such, but has little purpose in full on games. How would move a charactor with the sony stick? Hold it in one hand and half a dual shock in the other? Ya, works much better with games...

Try thinking beyond conventional games...I personally see something like this being huge for disabled people, or a great teaching tool.

I am pretty vain, I know when I first started playing games on XBL(with the first Xbox) I refused to use the headset. I thought it was nerdy and strange. Like what would my neighbors think if they just heard random talking etc. Obviously not seeing the whole picture and being as egocentric as I am, I finally realized that it was ok, and not as strange as I orignally thought. I definitley enjoyed the PC as typing was easier, and I did not have to listen to constant chatter. Now I can't imagine playing online games without a headset.

Basically what I am saying is that headsets were not normal, and just considered foriegn at one time. Now they are accepted for the most part. Gaming is much more Mainstream, thanks in part to ALL of the consoles. I have timelimits imposed by my wife for playing games, and we are normally to busy to play which seriously sucks. Though I do pull all nighters everyone once in a while with some good friends.

I keep catching myself chatting about nothing...not sure why, probably because I am at work on a Saturday. Either way, the Wii mote is not so strange anymore, and easy to pick up. Wii opened the doors for Natal, and has given Natal an actual chance at succeding.

If Natal delivers ona fraction of what it promises it will be a great feature/tool for gaming, and More.

So i guess what im getting at is Natal has much more potential IMO than other motion controllers IF USED as an "aid" to the standard controller. Example: playing a shooter with ai squad members, using military/swat style hand guestures to indicate orders to your squad members. Actually, they dont have to be AI, could bring some awesome multiplayer mechanics to shooters... God i hope dev's do the right thing with natal...

I thought it was bad for Forza, but I think the hate for Natal actually tops that. Why do you think there is so much hate for something that actually looks like its going to be good? Why wouldnt we want Natal to better our gaming experience?

PrimusGears

You actually think it looks good? From what I've seen it's just gonna be a PSEyetoy add on for the 360....the software is laughable at best. Don't want.

Lets see NATAL is supporting controller-less gaming and that is BOUND to fail. You cant have gaming without physical input PERIOD. And on top of that its a mid gen add-on (much like the eye toy) and we saw how little support that thing got and it sold horribly. #1 No controller

So this means it forces the player to stand up directly in front of a TV to play, who wants to go home from a hard day at work to play...to play....hmm to play...

#2 Mini Games

Yea that's right, that's basically what Natal will be filled with due to not having a controller. Go check out PSEye vids...you can't possibly have a "hardcore" experience without a controller....you eliminate way to many genres.

#3 Price

  • 120GB HDD = 150
  • Wifi = 100
  • Wireless Headset = 60

Based off of MSs pricing strategies Natal will be one expensive add on.

...Stop thinking so conventionally...It's leaps and bounds ahead of the PSEYE toy...which was just a toy. Its basically a system in it self...Just check out some of the projects coming for NATAL...it will not only be great for CERTAIN games, but it will be huge for teaching too.

If they deliver on just a fraction of what they are offering it will be amazing. If they deliver on every promise it could change how games are played from now on.

Just because it's foriegn to you does not neccesarily mean it's terrible. Imagine the first time you started to use Analogs...

It's a great concept and if it delivers on a fraction of what it is offering it will be HUGE...simple as that, and I doubt you can disagree with that.

I do agree if they used it for gimmick crap like EYE toy games, or some fo the 360 games(your in the movies)...it would be terrible...I also believe that the price will be large, though I think it's misleading of you to bloat the prices you listed to try and further your argument...be honest, don't lie. If your right....than your right....simple as that.

Natal=/=Eye Toy Natal is a NEW technology. It tracks full 3D body movement, Eye Toy only tracks 2D. Hell, Natal could do everything the Sony wand could by just tracking the hands.

I don't understand why he can't think conventionally? Is he now obligated to want to play games a new way with new and unconventional controls and uses? Also, why does delivering on a fraction of hype do it for you? If Natal delivers on everything it promises (it won't) at this point the only thing it will have done is make me interested. Nothing worthwhile has been seen of it. Nothing. And teaching? Really now, that has what to do with gaming? I'm open to new experiences but let's not mix the purpose of games with what new tech can do for projects that aren't gaming related.

i can actually see Natal being used for almost any game. even if it is only menu navigation. the thing would definately make RTS more playable on consoles. and you could possibly use hot keys, just reach out and touch them. controller and Natal could be a little bit like a keyboard and mouse if done right. i know theres no tactile feed back but thats not an issue in every case.

I can think of quite a few, though is there really any point in discussing them with you? I can alreay tell you will refuse any statement that places Natal in a good light. Game Ideas...here is one....Black and White... More? Roller Coaster Tycoon, The sims...those are some games that could benifit From NATAL...Though what excites me is what new IP's that NATAL would bring in...Just don't be so conventional, try and think outside the box such as NATAL is doing....ok?

That's my line, and what are you doing in here!

:P

-------------

TC : Ask yourself the opposite :

Why so much love on Natal considering the lack of information/real compelling quality exclusive software?

-------------

Also, I believe Natal is due next Year, Holiday 2010. THey show me actual exclusive high quality software that wows me, consider me wowed.
Right now people are amped up on their own imaginations spouting words like :

Minority Report, Holodeck, Virtual Reality, and the Matrix. It's insane that we don't have any real Natal games that kick butt, yet people are so stoked.

ImportBMWRacer

So all the PS3 fans that said keep waiting, keep waiting....look at what we have next year are completley wrong too....inculding yourself?

What are you talking about? I had a 360 before I ever had a PS3, I got a Wii at launch...I never said "keep waiting". Why would I say that when I obviously wasn't waiting, and bought all the consoles?

As far as your other question, the PS fans that did wait, were Looking at High Quality Exclusive Games to get amped up, Like Resistance, KILLZONE 2 or MGS4 before the system was even out.

We don't have that for Natal, I can tell you about some devs like Rare working on it, but I can't point to any high quality MUST HAVE exclusive games for Natal.

Anyways, like I clearly said above, they make the High Quality games, I will want it. I'm not buying it on faith.

I dont hate it. I just doubt it...
