Well, subjectively, there is a lot about Call of Duty that I don't like. The graphics aren't as good as current day games, the sound isn't great. The gameplay is stale to me. I don't understand the point of a jump button if you need it to go context sensitive to get on top of anything.
But, looking at it from an objective standpoint.
Call of Duty releases every year. They are on a 2 year dev cycle though due to alternating developers, but it doesn't seem they take advantage of that time. They don't update their game engine very much, and the campaigns are rather short. Also, the modes are very inconsistent. Some have co-op, some don't, some have capture the flag, some don't.
Also, the online is getting wonky and silly. It's evolving into an auto kill game. It's all about killstreaks, perks, and aim assist now (more specifically, it's about knowing how to exploit it).
They keep trying to go bigger (as far as stuff going on) with the MP, but they still haven't added dedicated servers, there's something fundamentally wrong with that, especially considering that the game doesn't perform well. I think people that don't notice the lag, or don't think it's bad, are just used to laggy games, because it's not that bad compared to other p2p games, but it's horrid compared to dedi servers.
All in all, I find the things they add to be very superficial, and often don't improve the game, but rather diminish the enjoyability of the game.
I don't hate the game though, as I feel it keeps a lot of really annoying people occupied and out of games I do play online, thus improving my gaming experience by distracting the chuckle heads.
