Because its the PS3. Obviously anything being released exclusive on the PS3 will be bigger then the second coming of Jesus.
But seriously, I am really disliking the hype for this game, if it can even be called that. Hell, the lead dev himself said he doesn't consider it a game anymore, and its genre is 'interactive movie'. I buy video game consoles to play video games, not watch movies where I can press a few buttons to interact. Honestly the only thing this game has going for it is its story, which looks really good. Graphics? NO. Just about everything is prerendered. Gameplay? What gameplay?

You walk to, from and between objects which you then interact with, like in pretty much any other game ever. What is it about Heavy Rain's interpretation of this design that makes it so difficult to comprehend? Is it because you're doing things other than shooting/slicing people? Is it because it also incorporates QTEs as a gameplay mechanic? And why does it bother you that others are interested in the prospect of a well executed mature, emotional story-driven experience?
You press a button then your character automatically stars moving. You use the control stick to control how fast they go, and press a few buttons along the way to 'interact' , with little to no control over the camera. Yeah, that sounds like mad fun.
What the hell is it with people always resorting to this argument. 'Omg if you don't like this game then you must be some noob who only likes shooting/killing things!!!' My favourite games ever are Super Smash Bros Melee, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Super Mario Sunshineand Banjo Tooie, neither of which involve any slashing or shooting enemies to oblivion.
It bothers me that people are hyping a damn movie to be GAME of the year (you want proof, look through this thread someone already posted proof). I have no quams with the story, like I said it looks excellent. The game's problem is that it severely lacks GAMEPLAY, you know, the most fun element of PLAYING a GAME.
Fun is a relative term and also not the subject of discussion here. The matter of gameplay being a thing which Heavy Rain does, is. Since you've provided no proper counter-argument I'm going to assume that you have none. In fact I believe you just agreed with my assessment that the way the game plays, or gameplay if you will, is interactive and controllable by the player through a fairly standard interface, at least for the most part. Putting airquotes in text form around the word interactive doesn't really do much to change that.I wasn't implying anything, merely inquiring, as this truly does mystify me. Your reply has only served to further confuse me. So there is no gameplay because you can't control the camera? I don't think you can control the camera in God of War 3 for instance. If that's incorrect I'm sure there are lots of other examples. Resident Evil for example. Do those games not feature gameplay? Does not compute.
Right. That would explain why you'd have a problem with the game, not the people who are interested in it. For whatever reason you seem to be getting agitated by this game getting attention because it's not your cup of tea. If people want to think it'll the best game ever, so what? Everyone has an ****ole.
Re-reading your post it's possible I may have misinterpreted some parts of it. So you actually believe the character is on rails or what? That you push a button and the person starts moving after which you control the speed like with a dial?
