[QUOTE="Zerostatic0"]Wii Sports is probably the most important game in quite some time, it's defiitely having more of an impact on our industry then stuff like Gears, Zelda, or Resistence. I don't have a problem with people that don't like it, but people who mindlessly bash it and try to belittle it's importance are just ignorant.afdevil24

Ugh here we go again. Go out on the street and ask somebody what Wii Sports is. Their response: :? Why must sheep continue to think this game is so important? It has had a very small impact and the only reason why people play it is because it was free. I remember one sheep saying that it sold 5 million copies  Um because it came with the system maybe?! It's not as important as Gears, which is actually a true game.

You do realize it's the highest-selling game for the Wii in Japan, where it is NOT packaged with the system? Ignorance is bliss...

Okay whatever it's $5 there then. If anyone bought this game $50 then they're crazy.

its not $5

They love to waste their money, huh?

No they just love the game, Nintendo knows what Japanese want

[QUOTE="Jandurin"][QUOTE="afdevil24"][QUOTE="Jandurin"]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_sports Check out the Awards.

sad what wii sports could do to gaming. turn it into simplistic mini-games.

What, you can't enjoy a game that is easy to pick up and has a mass appeal? You need something that makes you feel part of a clique or cult or something? Can't you even, as a non-enjoyer, appreciate how Wii sports is able to help those who hate video games to understand what it is that you, and I, and all of us as gamers actually see in games? That it's not just escapism or hatred of everything around us or insecurity or introversion, but that games are... fun.

Not only that, its only simple to pick up. Not master. It has a whole different level of depth that most games dont achieve.

I really doubt that I can convince afdevil that there is any depth to the game, he would just latch onto that and try to disprove my whole sentiment on that single notion.

Yeah.  I mean, when you get tougher competition for the sports it gets more difficult.  And getting all platinums on training is freaking HARD.

There are 2 things that I do not like about it, first is the fact that you cannot move your mii while playing tennis(makes the game kinda lame...) and the second is that the boxing cannot keep up when I try to throw multiple punches..its a good start for future games, but I will just wait for those.

Wiisports comes with every Wii which at the moment is the console selling the most each month of you haven't noticed in the states. In Japan where it isn't bundled it has already sold more the 1 million. Yeah it had no impact and wasn't important at all. I mean its the game that is brining in all the non-gamers, casuals, and gamers a like.

Take your BS else where.

It seems that most 360 and PS3 owners don't like Wii Sports. And I must ask you: why? It's great fun, and I play it almost everyday. Judging by some of the generic reasons people use to say it's crap, I doubt some of the haters have played it.-The-G-Man-

On the other hand, you might actually run into somebody who's seen "That Wii Tennis game" on prime-time TV.

Wii Sports is far more important than Gears.  More people will play it, and it will be remembered for longer.

Five million copies is just the beginning for Wii Sports.

People hate things they don't understand.

If u don't understand the concept towards the controls, of course u're gonna hate it.

I'm pretty sure people got pretty annoyed the first time they played a fighter game, where they got owned by the comp before they finally figured out what to do.

Cheers

Let's not judge Wii Sports. The game is free and enjoyable.

Wii Sports is one of those truly remarkable games because of its simplicity. It's not that great graphically, it's not really that deep, and the 5 games are simplistic for most, but this game is fun when playing with friends... sober or drunk. And anybody can play, even your grandparents. Wii Sports is one small reason why the Wii has been an early success. Even the Japanese are buying this game, where it doesn't come bundled with the Wii. This game has made more of an impact on sales than GeoW, only because it's "geared" towards hardcore fans. Wii Sports is supposed to be for everyone. To some it's a tech demo, and in some ways it is, but this demo has some replay. And kids... drinking is wrong... until you're 21, then it's cool.

Im gonna say that wii is a more important game than Gears, but im not going to say its better. Some of my friends who never play video games love wii sports, but they hate gears. Personally, i like playing Gears more than wii sports, but if nintendo can get some of my friends who dont play video games to consider buying a wii for wii sports, its obviously a more important game. I would still rather play gears,

Yeah I play Gears with friends too, drunk/high/sober. It's fun, and I prefer better graphics and non-simplistic gaming. I'm a fan of Wii and understand that Wii Sports sells, but sheep stop pretending like it's the best thing since sliced bread.

To sum up Wii-Sports.

Cool game to play with friends. But other than that it lacks depth and that is why it's free.

This little back and forth debate got sparked when I made a post about Wii Sports impact on the industry and I even went as far to say that I'm ok with people not liking it, but people who belittle it's importance are just ignorant, and all you did was prove my statement correct buy totally missing the point and assuming we like it better then Gears, and how it's too simple and stuff like that. Dude, you're totally missing the point, I would way rather play Gears then Wii Sports, but guess what great games on Gear's level happen a couple of times every year and have been happening for a long time, the industry doesn't get it's foundations shaken with each of these games. Wii Sports has indeed shaken the foundations of gaming because of the people that it's getting into gaming, and the mainstream coverage that it's getting. I mean, Steven Colbert fought a Mii of Nancy Pelosi on The Colbert Report, when was the last time that you saw people playing Xbox 360 or PS3 on a show about Politics, and this is just one of countless examples, Cosmo which is a woman's magazine had a whole feature on the Wii and you can bet your @ss it wasn't Zelda that got that article in there, it was Wii Sports. Conan O'Brian who is one of the most famous talk show personalities played Wii Tennis against Serena Williams on his show. Wii Sports got the New York Times game of the year. It was ranked number 1 on Times Magazines top 10 games of the year. And you're trying to tell me that Wii Sports hasn't had a huge impact? Dude, stop being so close minded.

Then you're missing out. It's not saying Wii sports is a great game. He's saying that it has been very influential within the news. Wii sports and the Miis have made quite an impact, more than any conventional game ever could.
