There is plenty ground-breaking on PC. Not so much on console. There is stagnation on console. It's one open-world game after open-world game after Souls-like after Souls-like.

The most innovative game to come out on PS4 in recent memory was Tetris. TETRIS!!! Are you kidding me!?!?!

Games on PS4 get hyped because of marketing. It's the same reason Britney Spears sells a shitload of albums; is it because she is talented, a good singer? No. It's because her shit is catchy and marketed well. Consoles are the pop music equivalent in gaming.

Of course, this occurs on PC when there are multiplats to consider, but at the same time the open-ended structure of PC development lends itself to new types of games, new types of gameplay, and so on when it comes to original games. I don't even want to call them exclusives because I hate dick-measuring by that metric, they're just original games. Innovation does not really occur on console; any new tech is generally used to make what is already established bigger and better, not new and improved.

PS5 is not here yet, but I already know how it's going to go. There will be another Uncharted game, and it will sell well. There will probably be another Horizon: Zero Dawn game, and it will sell well. There will probably be another Spider-Man game, and it will sell well. They will have all these flashy games with no loading screens and all this unimportant stuff but there will be no progress. We will be playing on 8K screens except we will be playing the same nonsense we were playing ten years ago.

You console folks love to talk shit about retro games and 2D graphics on PC, but at least those games are fresh experiences. I can't say that about the flashiest and best-selling games on console.

PS5's higher CPU power enables games to be different not just rendering CPU's view-port at higher resolution by the GPU.

At 3.2 Ghz CPU for PS5, it would be about 8X over PS4's CPU in logic driven GFLOPS which is different from mostly stream driven TFLOPS from GPUs.

Nobody is skipping the PS5. If they say they are they're lying.

Are you looking to put something like that in your next gaming PC? Or would the extra speed not really matter for games?

I know Aorus are releasing an 8TB SSD which costs more than a complete rig, I kid you not. I'm sure they will be fast as lightening, am I that bothered initially? Not particularly, it would be the last thing I would upgrade a rig with, and it would be up to developers to work with an SSD for games.

I won't be putting any HDDs in my next rig. I'll be going with a 1TB SSD which will be plenty for games.

i'll also be moving my older SSD from my current rig and use that for the OS and programs.

Because Sony has moved its PlayStation HQ from Japan to California, the capitol of the new progressive liberal. They've taken the job of the ratings board by censoring content they have no business censoring in the name of left wing politics.

They also have a terrible stance on not allowing cross play with other platforms, which means they don't allow those with PlayStation systems to play games with those who own other platforms.

I want nothing to do with this modern, woke Sony going forward.

That's yesterdays news sony now allows it,just like MS didn't allow cross play even with PC at the start of this gen even less other consoles.

Cross play between consoles is NEW not a thing yet,but certainly Sony was a pioneer on it this gen pushing cross play with PC from day 1,also MS refused last gen to allow it as well when sony wanted to,so basically you are a bit wrong here.

1-Please point to me the so call grown breaking games that PC is getting.

2-Games get Hype because of marketing on PC as well.

3-PS has been a pinnacle on those and sony has been extremely open to new ideas,some work some don't.

4-Well PC is here already is has been here for a long time unchanged,and will continue to be that way,hermits bragging about 20% faster IPC or GPU performance while keep getting the same games and playing old garbage.

Hm...maybe because I don't feel like spending $500 on a new console and I don't trust gaming companies to begin with. Sure, the PS5 might be able to improve on the graphics on PS4 games via BC, but I really don't see a real need for it yet. A want? Yes, but not a need as far as I'm concerned.

Persona 5 was mainly reason I got PS4, if the series went across the board multiplat then I'd need something else big to get me to get one.

Meh, I probably will wait and see instead of day 1. I didn't use my PS3 much and my PS4 even less because I can't stand the controller and I prefer the Live on-line. The only exclusive this gen that I really liked was HZD. Many of the rest were crap; although a lot of them were earlier gen and I just haven't cared enough to get GOW or Spidey so if I got them I might get back on the bandwagon. Skip entirely? Maybe not. Delay? Probably so.

A "pure upgrade" over PS4 doesn't necessarily offer enough to make buying it worth it. So someone with very little interest in whatever new PS5 has might make the decision to not bother with the new system.

Seems to me "if its just pure upgrade of the PS4" that would be the reason NOT to get it. At least, that was the argument many were making against the Pro and X.

AMD already revealed PS5 being NAVI based.

Sony already revealed PS5 has "8 core Zen v2".

My Ryzen 5 2500U with 25 watts TDP can reach ~3 Ghz and nearly rivals Intel Core i7-3770K in Cinebench R15. 7 nm version can double the CPU core count to 8 cores.

People left the xbox for the PS4 because the PS4 isn't $600 like the PS3 and MS doesn't have a huge gap in price like last gen,again sony went back to been sony cheap console great games and the dominance is obvious.

But the real problem here if that you think the xbox brand is as big as the PS,which not even in US is true.

I guess the 360 selling over 85 million units world wide, and actually beating the PS3 worldwide for most of last gen never happened then?

I skipped PS4 but a fully BC PS5 would be very tempting especially if Sony can get those Pro games to display at Native 4K on the PS5.
