THIS IS NOT A FAD/TROLL THREAD. HEAR ME OUT.

Many of you have seen all of the trailers for Sonys new exclusive, The Last of Us. So far what we know is that is post apocalyptic, and it is clear the premise of the game is about zombies or mutants of some sort. There was also a strange trailer depicting an ant, having its brain devoured by a fungus known as Cordycepts. For those of you who dont know, Cordycepts is a fungus that essentially turns you into a zombie....

I CBF'ed explaining it any more than that, so before you read on, read this link below. In this link, JustPushStart goes into MUCH further detail about it:

http://www.justpushstart.com/2011/12/04/new-ps3-exclusive-the-last-of-us-may-be-about-brain-fungus/

You finished reading? Now, the assertion I am trying to make is this....

"THE LAST OF US" could be kojimas next game. a spiritual reboot of Hideo Kojima's "SNATCHER".

Allow me to explain myself.....Think about it....you watched that Cordycepts video (the fungus that takes over the ants). Now, after watching that video in the link, or reseraching Cordycepts, read this description taken from Wikipedia on the plot to hideo Kojima's franchise: "Snatcher":

*note: I havent played snatcher btw*

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snatcher

Plot and setting

On June 6, 1996 (1991 in the Japanese versions),[3] a chemical weapon known as Lucifer-Alpha under development in Chernoton, Russia, is released into the atmosphere, resulting in the death of 80% of the Eurasian population which in turn results in the death of half of the world's population. The contaminated area becomes uninhabitable for a decade, when Lucifer-Alpha mutates into a non-lethal form. This tragic event later becomes known as "the Catastrophe".Fifty years later, a breed of artificial life-forms or bioroids known as "snatchers" began appearing in the artificial island of Neo Kobe City, killing their victims and taking their place in society. Nobody knows exactly what they are or where they come from. As Gillian Seed, an amnesiac working for an Anti-Snatcher task force called J.U.N.K.E.R., the player's goal is to track down the source of the snatchers and discover Gillian's mysterious connections with them.

Now.....doesnt that description of the plot and setting of Snatcher, and the chemical weapon mentioned here, sound awfully close to what that Cordycept fungus does to those ants (and presumably humans)? Not only that, but it makes perfect sense.

It is because that cordycepts fungus IS the "chemical weapon" they are creating ;)

Now, if you look at the video of The Last Of Us (the one with the rioting and guy reminicing), you will notice that it looks to take place for the most part in a modern era. Snatcher took place in a modern era (it actually says Snatcher's actual gameplay took place 50 years later, but the actual catastrophe took place in modern times. but assuming this is a "reboot" or maybe even a "prequel", who's to say it cant be based immediately after the event? I mean, Metal Gear Solid is based in multiple time periods).

Whatever it is, I will automatically buy it if Kojima makes it. Im calling it right now... "The Last Of Us" is a spiritual Reboot to Snatcher. (or perhaps a true "prequel" ala what MGS3/Peace Walker are to MGS1 and 2 ). Calling it right now.

Also, if you look at this new image of the game (and you are familiar with hideo Kojima's games), you will notice that the leaves actually look like Kojima's artstyle.

Whatever the result I'm very interested and pray it doesn't turn out to be just another FPS.

I'll take an educated guess at what the game is: The Last of Us developed by Guerrilla Games published by Sony. Is a post-apocalyptic (due to some sort of virus) first person shooter. Possible zombies. If I'm right I'll stick to the games in my signature.

If it's a Quantic Dream or kojima game that prayer might come true

just no.

as he was demo'ing the FOX engine, there was strong emphasis on it being a multiplatform engine, and he was even playing on a 360.

Guerrilla Games has been confirmed to be making a new IP, and they mentioned that it is a Fantasy FPS. This isnt a fantasy FPS. Its post apocalyptic.

Speculative fiction includes: fantasy, science fiction and alternative histories. So they are overlapping and doesn't rule out my prediction.

Theoretically, no. But in anyways that lets you keep a shred of "educated" to your guess? Not even a little.

The genres are overlapping so it doesn't rule out my guess. Anything I write today you disagree with.

Because you're obviously only doing it to hate on it. All you're doing is coming up with any idea (almost all of which are unsupported) that devalues the possibilities.

First you say its already been revealed as that game, claiming it as obvious, even though the reality of the situation is against you.

Second, you suggest that is a overdone genre by a underwhelming (in turns of announcement surprise) developer. Then you proceed to talk about how you'd prefer the 360 game even though you've seen none of this. None of what you "predict" have any backing but the post-apocalyptic and possibly zombie stuff (which are obvious to anyone who's followed even some of this story). Everything else is based on a total of nothing, and when information comes out that refutes it being even a possibility, you grasp at straws instead of trying to think of something actually likely to happen.

Everything I've seen you post sounds so damn trollish. So please, just stop it. Its getting stupid.

Guerrilla is on an epic quest for a Concept Artist with an architectural or industrial design background. Like a modern-dayDaedalus, you will design complex environments to contain themonsters and ensnare the heroesof our flagship titles.

No, all it means is that Sony is publishing the game. SCEA is the division that does everything for the PS3 in America. Not just the internal studios. Or at least are the ones orchestrating the videos being put up and the website. Concluding anything else from that is illogical.

[QUOTE="StrongDeadlift"][QUOTE="KC_Hokie"][QUOTE="lx_theo"] What logic are you using? :o

Sony owns Guerrilla Games (SCEA). So this is an internal game. Guerrilla has been working on a FPS for awhile. This is it.

Guerrilla Games is SCEE, not SCEA.

Same division same thing.

No, all it means is that Sony is publishing the game. SCEA is the division that does everything for the PS3 in America. Not just the internal studios. Or at least are the ones orchestrating the videos being put up and the website. Concluding anything else from that is illogical.

Guerrilla games is directly under SCE/SCEE/SCEA.

As is Naughty Dog. And Sucker Punch. And Media Molecule. And many others. Any of them works with that logic. Again, all it means is that Sony is publishing, or at least in charge of the site. Anything else is really grasping straws.

[QUOTE="eboyishere"]

[QUOTE="KC_Hokie"]No. Read the link I provided. KC_Hokie

yea i did so your trying to tell me that this:

Guerrilla is on an epic quest for a Concept Artist with an architectural or industrial design background. Like a modern-dayDaedalus, you will design complex environments to contain themonsters and ensnare the heroesof our flagship titles.

sounds like a game about a virus from ants infecting people?

lol..It's not literal. They don't mean the person WILL BE making 'the monsters and ensnare the heroes'.

IT isnt even GG's calling card. They are more about the whole dark and gritty war games almost like epic games. This seems more like a kojima or Quantic Dream type of game.

You mean me? Yeah. Which is why I mentioned them. Or did you mean him?

I wouldn't mind that at all. I think Snatcher is one of Kojima's best next to MGS3.

That would be so nice, but its too bad Kojima already announced that his "next project" will be multiplatform. I wish though. Nice analysis.

It was announced when they showed off the new FOX engine, which is designed for multiplatform use.

That just means it can be used for Multiplatform. If they spent all that time making an engine, they'd probably still use it in the case of exclusive titles. That, or the game could have easily been too far into production before they finished the engine to use it. Kojima game is still a distinct possibility. I don't know how likely it is in the first place, but this doesn't knock it out of the feasible range.

Well I hopes it's not a Prequel and it's a new ZOE game.
