[QUOTE="daqua_99"][QUOTE="springz300"]nintendo has been giving us the same characters and franchises for almost 20 years.whoisryanmack

If Sony and MS were in gaming for 20 years they would do the same thing ...

and it would be equally weak. I thought ninty was supposed to be "innovative"? Save mario 64 (which was only incendetally a Mario game, it could have been anything) they haven't innovated with those characters since the beginning.

Can I ask what you would change/add to the game?

Nothing. I would scrap them entirely at this point (actually about 10 years ago for most of them) and try to come up with something else. Yes, they bring you a new platform style, but guess who the star is...Mario!! Yes, they bring you a new shooter style, but guess who...Metriod! It just seems lame that all innovation in this company has to revolve around the same bunch of lame-o characters from the 80's.

At this point, I think change for the sake of change would be enough for Nintendo. Just anything else, I wanna see what else they can do. I think we would be pleasantly surprised, but Ninty won't even give that a thought!

.......

Ridge Racer SEVEN

Tekken SIX

Final fantasy THIRTEEN

WTF is that ? Oh people with sony are doing THE EXACT SAME THING... DIfferent yes... But whos gonna wanna play a MARIO game that has.. Andre as the main character... Or metroid with some... half assed (excuse my lang) character ? or zelda with the main character being.... zelda.... It just wouldn't be right. Ninty and sony are both holding on to early franchise. so dude.. seriously STFU, and GTFO

Scrap everything? Lame-o characters? Nintendo doesn't have to scrap everything, everything is just fine. They make a lot of games that harken back to their past, which is their right. If you had your way, Nintendo would never had made super mario 64,ocarina of time or majora's mask in the n64 era. Mario, samus, and the whole gang are great characters who will die when people stop wanting more of them. In the mean time, nintendo makes new franchises to compliment their old ones. N64: smash bros, animal crossing, pokemon. GC: pikmin, warioware, battalion wars (2nd party?). Wii: HAMMER, Vision Red, Wiisports (+wiiplay, wiimusic, etc), plus more to come for sure.

[QUOTE="whoisryanmack"]Thats cool, but it doesn't do me alot of good. I don't really care if the old couple across the street are having fun, I'm really more concerned with myself. A side question....how long are sheep going to continue looking forward to the next mario, zelda and metroid? I mean really, make ninty work a little people. whoisryanmack

I enjoy indepth games on my own, but I also enjoy playing games with the old folks across the street. Old folks need company.

Very true. I wish they were into Gears though.

Dude, if I ever found an old guy that played Gears, I would be likely to do a backflip while crying in tears of laughter... ...well maybe not all that, but it'd be awesome.

Of course you and others will choose to miss the point entirely. Yes, Nintendo does have games that do not feature those characters, and yes, Sony has sequels. I can't cover all the bases of every argument in every post or else it would take years to finish one.

The point is, all sheep seem to look forward to are the next Mario, Zelda, Metroid..etc. Shouldn't Nintendo's big budget stuff have expanded a little bit? It's not even that the games they are in are bad, it's just the principle of the thing.I never said they should make a Mario game with another character in it, that doesn't even make sense and I'm not sure how you got that.

And BTW, finishing arguments with STFU or GTFO basically says, "hey, forget all I just typed, I'm an idiot". It does nothing to sway me and makes you look worse.

I don't even understand where you guys get the idea that this dude is saying you all have lower standards.

I think he's restated over and over that it is his oppinion that the games are nothing new.

And they aren't, if you really look at them. But then again all of the systems have that error. They are all trying to recreate the success they had with past titles. Do you blame them? No. Would you like to see it stopped? Most people would say yes, except for the super fans. The super fans we most commonly see on Nintendo products. Why? Because they grew up with those systems and games, they love them.

I liked the fact that the Wii was adding something fun, and it really was great...for a while. For me the honeymoon stage wore off as soon as I realized there wasn't any killer game for the system in my oppinion.

I think the Wii system is great for those who are relying on nostalgia instead of graphics and fancy doodads. But just wait, in ten years or so, most of us will be just the same with Microsoft or Sony.
