The reason isn't because of inferiority, becuase I've heard 360 fanboys and sheep admit that the PS3 is more powerful, and with there being such amazing titles as Resistance and Motorstorm, both of which are way better than gamespot give them credit for, and more on the way it's hardly that. It's because people are too damn cheap to fork out the extra money, and will take the cheap, not as good option in an attempt to save money. I'm not saying the PS3 is cheap, I'm saying that it is worth the extra money for the better technology you get, for example bluray, as opposed to DVD9, which is unacceptable in today's gaming standards. You get what you pay for, but some foolish people just can't dig deep enough into their pockets. I don't doubt that when the PS3 get a wee bit cheaper, gamers will be swarming around it like flies, but until then people will refuse to pay for something better. The only thing which baffles me is why people will do the opposite for cars, and buy a big fancy one and spend lots of money on that, but not for games consoles.ShmenonPie

Well, maybe Motorstorm deserved higher, but RFOM is a pretty generic game. It's like a Frankenstein's Monster mix of different games, from COD to HL2 to Halo.
Because when your like the average American adult with mortgage payment, car payment, 20yr old fridge, need a new roof, fear of layoffs...etc $600 for a game system doesnt fit into your budget.Darthmatt
I think the majority of Ps3 owners live at home with their parents.
Because when your like the average American adult with mortgage payment, car payment, 20yr old fridge, need a new roof, fear of layoffs...etc $600 for a game system doesnt fit into your budget.DarthmattAnd that goes double for college students who need to work nights to just barely pay for school.
Lemmings will try to say the PS3 is junk all the time no matter what the facts are. Sheep will always try to say that no one is more innovative than Nintendo.
But the fact is that Sony said it from the Start they want people to save up and buy a PS3. Not just spend money on a junk system that will be outdated in 6 months or less. So the price on the PS3 might be higher than consoles in the past but The person willing to take the time and save up a little cash will have a console that won't be considered scrap metal in a year or less. Sony put everything into the console that you will need over the next 5 to 10 years. You can't say that for some others.
the PS3 will continue to sell steady throughout it's life span. There will not be revisions of it sent out except for maybe a larger hard drive for the media junkies. But you can put in a different hard drive yourself already without voiding the warranty. The Rest of the PS3 hardware will not change except for it getting more compact and power efficient. Something the competitors cant promise.
The PS3 is worth the price....sadly all your going to get here inr esponse is like the ones above me. "It's a pile of junk"
He sais it and he doesn't back his statement. I could say that the 360 is a pile of junk but I don't think so! I could say that the Wii is a pile of junk....and I'm saying it because I think so! No wonder the Wii is under $300 it can't even play DVD's. But don't worry....very soon the price of the PS3 will go down and those people who said it's junk will buy it as well. I own a PS3, I don't have a 360 but I'm going to buy the Elite. I don't have a Wii and I'm never going to buy it because I tried it and really really was dissapointed with it. Somehow to me good gameplay is not an excuse for bad graphics. But to be honest the gameplay of Wii games wasn't so good! I want a 360 Elite because of it's games! I choose the PS3 before the 360 because of it's games that where promissed and also the fact that I've been playing Playstation consoles since 1997 and it gave me countless hours of enjoyment. Tomb Raider 1,2 and 3. Not even Halo can beat that game. Or Tekken series. But now I do like Gears of War can't wait till I play it! But Playstation will always be my #1 choice! 360 is fine.....Wii is a crap!!
PS3 isin't selling because of it's price!! You don't even hear PS3 systems breaking that oftem as the 360's are. So that can't be it! There are great games on the PS3 as well as on the 360. But it's like this. a Person who always had a BMW and never had a problem with it wil always buy a BMW before a Honda. Maybe he buys a Honda after he got the newest BMW. Isin't that so?

The ps3 is only selling a couple of thousand less than the 360 even though its got hardly a superb selection of games at the moment, is that not saying something to you.meischris39
Sony said they could sell 5 million without games, so that's telling me the major fanboys got their Ps3 and now the thing will die.

You guys should realy think about buying for that much, unless you live in the city. Anyway, I stand by what I said.Well for one... a car is a status symbol and is important to some people and spend more... games aren't held in that regard... if they are to you then you need a life lol
Also to most people games are all the same... they'll buy the cheapest thing because in their eyes the PS3, X360 and Wii all do the same thing... play games... It's different for us because we follow games and know the difference... but Joe Smith who suddenly feels the niggling to buy a console will most likely go for the cheaper one...
Lastly don't call people foolish for not forking out the extra money to buy one because most of these people have other things to spend their hard earned money on. You clearly are a child when you say that because no one who works for their money, gamer or not, would say that. I myself feel foolish for buying one early... I know alot of other PS3 owners who feel the same way... you will too when the price drops like a landslide...

The PS3 isn't selling because it costs more than a month's rent, and yet fails to deliver experiences capable on less expensive hardware. PERIOD.

$600 a months rent???? yea right!!!! maybe a room for that in a basement!!
The reason it isn't selling is because Sony hypes too much, and when push comes to shove, they have little to offer. Also that my fellow cows and I just love the PS3 so much that Sony only needs to sell half of its consols to be the best in this war.ShmenonPie

Sure, some people are foolish for blowing $600 on a gaming console.
Some people also have a mommy and daddy to pay for such things.
Sound familiar?

Your kidding me right??? There was no word about splitting rent or anything!!! I'm talking about rent!!! I don't care how many ways you split the damn thing it's $1150 for on apartmant!!! Show me an apartmant for $600 in NYC.....so me one!!!! You can slit it 20 ways for all I care!!! I'm talking about rent/apartmant!! You can't find an apartmant for $600/month....end of story!!! And don't be a jerk by trying to spin that!!

2) You obviously have no concept of the cost of living. There are many places where rent is below $600. Maybe not in NY, but other places. Research before you post.
People keep mentioning price...but the IPHONE is gonna cost 600 dollars and it doesn't do half of what the PS3 does and I bet its gonna sell huge. Same with other devices such as the Black berry Pearl,. They are expensive but they sell nonetheless.

Its not the price...its just that the consumer doesn't any games worth playing.

And just how many people do YOU KNOW that drive "big fancy cars" like Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Ferraiand Mercedez Benz, as opposed to those who drive "average" cars like Toyota, Mazda, Ford, and Geo?
Incidentally, cars are considered an essential by just about everyone. Video game consoles aren't, even by most gamers.

The ps3 is the cheap, you can call me a cheap ass but at least i'm not a dumbass. Games makes a gaming console and resistance + motorstorm is average at best. The ps3 does not have anything to offer that warrants the $600 pricetag.
I beg to differ with REsistance and Motorstorm being better than what gamespot give them credit for. Reason why I think both those games suffer is depth....not graphics. Here is a case where graphics is not the problem but they lack in replay value as well as depth. Resistance for instant is pretty sweet, specially for a launch title yet I find that the level are way too quick and you don't get much freedom to do what you want. The game gives you a path to follow and you dont' have to think past it. Also the cutscenes could have been much better, and if they had more time with the game I bet they would have been.Â
Like I said for a launch title, it was great.....but it was not high end game if you compare the most recent X360 games. That all has to factor in when they do their scores. Quick note, motorstorm just has nothing beyond playing online. There has to be more and again, I believe there would have been if SOE wasn't under pressure just to release something even if it's not completely finished.
Lair, Heavenly Sword, KillZone 2, Warhawk, MGS4....those are the titles that are going to determine the future of the PS3. These first generation games are there for the rabid hardcore fans that were going to buy the PS3 reguardless.......the real games will actually sale the console.
