I think Wii will continue dominating just like the DS has done. And rightfully so. Because it has the best quality games, most diversity, most exclusives. Sales is just an indication that consumers are interested by it. Wich is proof that the Wii is the best console out of three. Nintendo will not loose its position to a bunch of graphics centered games for little kids to play so they can pretend they are ''badass''.

SMG GoTY is just a beginning. SSB, Wii-fit and mario-kart here we come!!

Wii will win because casuals rule the market. It's a sad fact but we all deal with it. Last gen it was the PS2, this gen it's the Wii.

So a site called Nintendic with a Wiimote in a shield for a logo says the Wii will outlast the PS3 and the 360?

Ok.

Sales is just an indication that consumers are interested by it. Wich is proof that the Wii is the best console out of three.

ng1234

That is a very laughable statement.

did anyone else read that there wouldn't be a PS4 or something like that?

i'm sure the wii will outlast the 360 simply because the 360 was the first nextgen console to be released and microsoft might try the same with the third xbox system

I agree but it seemed more balanced with the PS2. Maybe the Wii will balance out eventually but right now it is extremely casual. Whoever caters to casuals wins the war sales wise.

It may outlast the other two but I have a sneaky suspicion that others ( not MS/Sony ) are licking their chops to get a piece of the pure profit low tech, low investment gadgetry that appeals to the naive but high profit market-share because you see, Nintendo has no competition at that level - in other words, like in the past there is no Sega !

MS & Sony are battling for the future $$$$ while Nintendo just coast.... at least this gen.

Don't count on that being the case next gen. ;)

I'm glad the Wii is doing so well, it keeps the little kids out of the PS3 section while I shop :P.

As far as endurence, hmmm, I don't know. I guess time will tell the Wii tale, fad or not.

True, PS2 was more balanced. This is becuase Sony are the masters of generating 3rd party support.

You're right. When/ if Apple makes another console, it will definitely feature some type of motion sensing. Probably your fingertips, think Minority Report. And if they do a handheld too, it will most likely include a touchscreen.

Wii will outsell the PS3 and 360 because it has market momentum and an inexpensive pricetag...it also has a killer app being released in 4 days which will make my PS3 and Xbox 360 collect dust for a few months easily.

best quality games last time i check the avergage wii game scores a 4. most diversity metriod, zelda, mario, ssbm

are the only good ones out there so unless you like shovel ware there is no diversity. most exclusives only because ps 3 and 360 this gen games can't go to the wii.

kids you say i bet my life on it more kids play wii than adults. kids play mostly m rating games now? im 31 and i will never play last gen hardware in a gen ahead of it.

then i guess the wii is easier to choose shovel ware after shovel ware. you can't choose from

uncharted, folklore, warhawk, resistance, motorstorm, rachet and clank, i can go on and on with good games.

have fun playing zelda, mario, ssmb, res 4, metriod over and over again because what else do you get to choose from.

There is RE4, RE umbrella chronicles, No more Heroes, Paper Mario, Wariowares, Zack and Wiki, Trauma Center, Rayman Raving Rabids, Medal of Honor Heroes 2, The Godfather, Scarface, Red Steel.

Soon Okami, SSB, Wii-fit, Mario Kart and much more.

More exclusives, more variety. Games like Cooking Mama and Trauma Center are innovative and unique. Kids don't play Trauma Center, older people do.

While that may be true, the recent Mario, and Metroid game have been completely new for the series, and were EXCELLENT achievements. Brawl, self explanatory. RE4, while being from last gen, was givin a BIG change with the pointing, which made it a whole new (and more fun) experience.

Mario will never grow old for a lot of people, and I could say the same about Halo.

theres no point in doing things like this. listing games does nothing because its just your opinion. the games that you think are good may only apply to you, others dont think the same

Read it. Respectively disagree (and not just because the website is quite obviously a Nintendo fan site). The Wii isn't that great on the third party side and the average score for Wii games is very low. Right now they are riding the wave of casual gamers who are trend seekers. Once the trends change and the current fads go out so the new ones come in, that'll be when the Wii starts to downturn. IMO

I think wii really isnt in the same market as 360 and PS3. Wii is aimed solely at the casuals while 360 and PS3 are duking it out for the Casuals and the hardcore players who want HD gaming and media.

the wii is for younger gamers. dont fool yourselves. it is not about casual gamers even. if you look at the stores, Wii games are HORRIBLE games most the time. They are games that mothers buy for 5yr olds. These games are such bad quality its a disgrace. (yeah i know there are like 10 good wii games out there)

Then you have the hardcore Nintendo fans that will continue to buy whatever Nintendo makes. these people have the gamecube, ds, wii, a million mario and zelda games, and think nintendo is god. Just because the wii is selling out in stores does not mean its going to last. Just watch, in a year, the wii will be in stock at stores, but people won't buy it as much, because they will see how many BAD games are out there. the wii will just sit in 3rd place and take it slow. It will last because Nintendo will take forever to make a better console. M$ will abandon the 360 to make the next Xbox in a couple years, while nintendo will continue to pump out mario and pokemon games for the little kids.

but the question is: if what you say is true, then WHEN will the trends change? cause if it takes a little while longer, it will be too late cause the wii will have such a large lead that it will be considered the "winner" (whatever that means) of this gen

remember how a couple of months after it came out some people were saying that its a fad and it cant possible be sold out for another few months? well now its been 1 1/2 years, how much more evidence do you need to prove that its not a fad

I've never heard truer words. The Wii has managed to capture the market that both the 360 and the PS3 pretty much ignored. Casuals combined with established fans of Nintendo has guaranteed it's success.

The Wii isn't doing anything revolutionary. The only revolution it is pioneering is bringing in non-gamers.

It is doing nothing for the core gamer, or the gamer who has been gaming for decades, like the other 3 platforms which is why the more critical games and new properties are being announced on those platforms.

If you've been a long time fan of Nintendo then I would presume that there are many reasons you would love the Wii, but if your main gaming platform last gen wasn't a GCN, then I think you will be hard pressed to find anything that you like on the Wii console.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Mario and Pokemon are great games. What exactly does Gears of War, Ninja Gaiden or GTA offer? Cutting monsters in half and killing innocent citizens? Well let me tell you. Mario and Pokemon offer good gameplay unlike half of the games on the 360 and PS3 lemkids and cowkids like to play so much so they can have their daily dosis of violence and blood.

Nintendo hasnt abandoned the core gamer. They are just supporting a new one. And I welcome them respectively.

PS3 and 360 are usually bought by kids who think they can impress others by playing M games.

Mario and Pokemon are better then anything your precious system has to offer.

Visuals are one of my favorite parts of getting new games.

I don't think the Wii has good quality games, just old style gaming with a new controller.

I like Violent games with mature themes.

I guess you could try and introduce legislation to try and make Nintendo the official game console but until then.... you can go on enjoying what you like and I will go on enjoying what I like.

I think the day of giant leaps in generations is over.

For me a game or system does not need to be a revolution to get my attention. I expect upgrades for each new game, but not a revolution.

While I wish a game like Oblivion were a little more like the previous game Morrowind, I loved the advances they made. They made the immersion process much more enjoyable.

well theres your problem. you have to actually insert a game in, the wii itself is not a game

My piece of advice would be to add a disc inside it. It actually plays a game and gives you many hours of fun. Especially when Brawl's out. Years of gaming from one little disc.

It is clear what he was getting at.

While his statement seems like nothing more then flamebait to me, it does not make your statement clever or cute at all.

I played the Wii for about 6 weeks as I went through all the games I wanted to try. Not it just sits there wating for Fatale Frame.

so..... tell me I am wrong, please!

[QUOTE="donwoogie"]Read it. IMOogvampire

but the question is: if what you say is true, then WHEN will the trends change? cause if it takes a little while longer, it will be too late cause the wii will have such a large lead that it will be considered the "winner" (whatever that means) of this gen

remember how a couple of months after it came out some people were saying that its a fad and it cant possible be sold out for another few months? well now its been 1 1/2 years, how much more evidence do you need to prove that its not a fad

I'll be the first o admit, I didn't think the Wii would last this long. New research has shown that casual gamers are 36% more likely to change to a new product just for the sake of change, ie. trend orientation. The thing is, there are no other games consoles out there that are geared to casual gamers. Were there any competition, like lots of casual games being released a lot more on other consoles, then it'd be interesting, the only problem is, if this were to happen, every console would have a very bad proportion of terrible games, much like the Wii has, mind you the Wii ahs some outstanding games, but they have a hellofalotta absolutely terrible games..............

i agree. unfortunately with the removal of the "nintendo seal of quality" the shovelware has increased for nintendo. but its not like they are forcing you to buy those games. just buy and play what you like

Again justifying your opinion stance by saying "see, look at the sales".

Well, I have logged onto halo and seen 1.3 million logged in at that moment.

I check gamespy and there are still 50k + people at any given time playing the original CS, much less those playing source at the time.

I will be blunt.

All the soccer moms and senior citezens in the world wont change the fact that there are probably fewer gamers that prefer the Wii over the other consoles.

Nintendo is appealing to a broader audience and keeping their base happy. Kudos for Ninty. They are a quality company.

im justifying my point with sales. sales is the only objective way to figure out whats going on, cause its ridiculous arguing over game ratings or whatever cause those are completely subjective.

you can argue over opinions, but you cant argue over facts.

sales are facts. game and console preference are just opinions

Just looking at the sales does not even come close to telling the whole story and you know it.

In SW terms Wii is winning, yep I agree. But well all know how absurd SW is, that is why we like it. If you take SW rules seriously you need a wake up call.

I constantly see sheep support their argument with something like sales or reviews, but when they don't just jive with their opinion they ignore them. (poor sales of games, bad reviews for a lot of wii games but SMG is Goty). Whatever supports your already held beliefs.

It not sheeps fault I am accusing them of doing it more. Being top dog opens you up to more bashing.

I firmly believe that the PC, 360 and ps3, canablize each other. They are all going after the same audience. Nintenod has its fan base and goes after a totally differant audience.

If PC, 360, and ps3 gamers only had one option, that one option would sell more systems then the Wii.

Yeh, but most casual gamers are illinformed and so buy the shovelware and of course get bored of it but each person buying one is still increasing the sales so, buy marketing this shovelware, Nintendo is securing a very high short term profit but risking its longevity in the market once the fad wears off.

Some fads live on like hideous monsters.

The supidity that is reality TV seems to have no end.

The Wii is like an ipod. Every yupi chump wants one in their living room. The Wii will never die. Except the doom of our time and avert your eyese from the horror to come.
