My friend loved it.. i haven't played it yet... he's already beaten it twice. I think the game is just good over all.. most people aren't fanboys... people go for what they find appealing.. it wasn't zombies so people weren't expecting that type of thing.. the game in my opinion had a good enough gameplay with an interesting story that kept people entertained and wanting to see how it all ended. There's no excuse such as it was ND that only works for Nintendo, it was a good game period. And RE still sells more.. so.. that being said..

Because the developers have a great track record, and know what to put and what to exclude in their games to make them stand out.

And because it was hyped and marketed to death by Sony. It was on TV every 15mins.

Bioshock Infinite was also marketed and hyped to death as well. Which is why the game sold millions to and got a great score.

Far Cry 3 wasn't marketed as much, but the game was also very good and it too sold well.

True those games weren't new IPs. Not all new IPs do that well. PS All Star Battle Royale did terrible.

Demon's Souls had ZERO marketing but sold well, because gamers were STARVED for a quality game after being bombarded by shallow corridor shooters by "safe betting" publishers for several years.

Success always refers to financial. It could have gotten a 1.0 but if it sold well, it's a success.

Its the over use of qte's, button prompts, cutscenes, and linear automated scenes.

The game plays itself.  8.0

Amazing game. The way for new IPs to be successful is for them to have hype. You don't don't get hype by being mediocre, you do it by putting out awesome trailers and showing off great demos. The demos they showed off for TLOU were amazing. People now think it will be a great game because they've seen it in action, ND has a great track record and reviews were put up weeks before the game came out and an overwhelming majority said that it was awesome for single-player and online.

Because its not on Xbox 360 and brand loyal xbox fans that own just that system can not enjoy it, only trash talk it on internet forums.

A "Flop", as defined by System Wars, has absolutely no bearing on a games success.

It's like we have crazy SW reality where one reviewer determines a games worth by a random score and then we have real world, it sold millions and on a short list for GOTY, reality.

What reality do you live in?

We are posting in gamespot, we use gamespot scores.

If that's the case, the Gamespot user average is 9.1. I think that's a bit more telling than some random guys 8.0. That's AAA in my book. I play games on all systems and TLOU is easily the best game I have played so far this year. That might change come Tuesday though.
