The Wii came after the GC, and is more powerful than last generation's consoles. It's next-gen.HeedleGlavin
the wii did came after GC and wii is twice as powerful as gc, but really does it count as next gen? isn't next gen suppose to be a big leap and not a small one?Â

It's the next in line of generations, so that makes it next-gen. Don't take any of that "new-gen" crap Nintendo makes up on the spot. The Wii came after the GC, and is more powerful than last generation's consoles. It's next-gen.HeedleGlavinNo, it's current-generation, and so are the PS3 and Xbox 360. Nothing more needs to be said on the subject.

Most of the lemmings here probably have 360s, but there are many sheep/cows that don't have a PS3 or a Wii, due to price or unavailability. But even that shouldn't stop a gen from being.Â

Look it up in a dictionary, you are making yourself look silly. Can Wii haters think of anything else these days. Seriously come up with something new instead of these tired old beaten down trolling arguments.BlackbondYeah. At least use one of the new talking points, like that "Wii will destroy gaming" crapola. >_>
you are assuming that next gen means a leap in power... who decided that???? ask the casual consumer what seems more different wii from gamecube or 360 from xbox.... the wii will win....
Â
i just beat gears of war yesterday... no one could tell that it was a new system i was playing oon....Â
People don't know what next gen is. "Next Generation": I have some examples: NES - SNES    PS1 - PS2. Humanly examples: Father generation and he passes it on to son generation = the next generation of the family. Its a new/next step. It automaticaly becomes a next generation. Gamecube was it's own generation, and Wii is the next generation. So the Wii is next generation. wapahalathe difference between NES-SNES ,ps1-ps2 was abysmal there no difference between gamecube-wii apart from the "new controller"of course.

The Wii isnt next gen because I havent seen one game that couldnt be done visually on a Gamecube . Some people argue SMG is better then anything gamecube could do but I disagree. Regardless the fact many of the games coming to it are Gamecube ports with Wii controls show what a gimiky peace of crap the Wii really is.
k alot of ppl say wii isn't next gen because it has ps2 graphics but thats not the only excuse to use, there more to a game that Graphics, there are ai, physics, number of ai in game. now if you look at Wii all those are almost the same as xbox,GC,and PS2 not bashing Wii it has a great controler but the only thing new Wii Has is the controller and yes the controller brings new gameplay in the console so gameplay for Wii is next gen, which is why most ppl say it's next gen. but just a reminder the gameplay is effect by many things and not only the controller. pminooei
SO if I go by your logic.....than the controler makes a system a next gen system? In that case I go out and buy a driveing weel and and got a next gen system. Then the next day I go out and buy some other crazy stuff...another next gen system!!

Next gen is nothing but the next batch of successors to the current consoles, or first entries for new companies. Next has nothing to do with hardware, software or generally anything to do with a console's capabilities, it's only a product thing. And the Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 are not next-gen, they're current gen.

I have yet to see a wii game that looks better than the gamecube counterpart, sorry. The way I see it, "next-gen" is something that is on the horizon, "current-gen" is something that's out today, and "previous-gen" is, well, previous. Blu-Ray isn't really next-gen because there's already something better (HVD), though it's not commerically available. The Cell is pretty amazing, but Intel already created an 80-core processor. IBM developed a processor that uses light to aid in data transmission (think 160Gb/sec). That stuff is cutting edge and not currently available. I would consider that more "next-gen" than something that is already on the market. I mean... 1080p isn't even the king of high def anymore (except for TV). Someone could slap some dirt on some Fruit of the Looms, call it "the next-generation of underwear," and there would be an idiot out there who would believe it.
The Wii is current generation. Why is that so hard to grasp? It may not have as advanced hardware as the PS3 or 360, but it is the next iteration from Nintendo, and it isn't just some "overclocked Gamecube with a gimmicky controller." It surpasses the hardware of last generation, and it does it in an incredibly small package. Try reading up on the Wii's hardware before you make blanket statements about it: http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=38689

It doesn't have anything to do with graphics! It's a simple fact that the Wii is the next Nintendo console.

That's not even a requirement. hell, the console can be weaker than its predecessor and still be caled next gen by the virtue of it being the successor to a previous generation of consoles.
