Stop comparing this to Cable TV or a cellphone service. It doesn't make sense.

dream431ca

You pay for the box, you keep paying for the service. Xbox 360: You pay fr the box you have an OPTION to keep paying for the service.

Huh? Did you read the fine print?? If you cancel the service on your 360, MS will charge you a termination fee, so you sign a contract. You really have no option, unless you want to pay more money to cancel it.

Ok, Prepaid phone: By the phone optional payment plan, get more features Xbox 360: By the phone optional payment plan get more features Wanna try again?

What the Fuc is the TC talking about anyone know? The PS3 is the console to own right now and Sony is the only one pumping out big budget high quality titles. Nice worthless bias poll you got there.

Only bad thing Sony did this gen was having an arrogant attitude (arrogance is NOT confidence) and launching an over priced system, also they were partly responsible for the PSN hack fiasco (though most of the blame falls on the hackers). However aside from that they have made great progress for the industry this gen.

You know who I think IS harming the industry though? MS! XBL fees, lack of exclusives, the new crappy Xbox rental program they are coming out with now ect....none of those things are good for the industry. Keep in mind I said they were harming the industry, not ruining it.

I simply think MS is the company that needs to change the most in this business. Because of some of their policies it has encouraged things like day 1 DLC, over priced map packs, online passes ect...However they are competition and it's important that they stay around even if I have no interest in their current or next gen system.

Why is anyone taking this guy seriously? This is the same guy who made a thread about how underrated Hitler is in OT, so its not like anything he says has any merit.

Plus did you all noticed he never even came back?

I simply think MS is the company that needs to change the most in this business. Because of some of their policies it has encouraged things like day 1 DLC, over priced map packs, online passes ect...However they are competition and it's important that they stay around even if I have no interest in their current or next gen system.

ShadowMoses900

Sony has been supporting DLC and map packs this whole gen right alongside MS

And Sony is the one putting online passes on all their first party games....

Because barely anyone stood up when they added ridiculously draconian DRM to music and even fewer people stood up when they started doing it to games.

Ummm....Xbox Live is basically an online pass since if you don't pay for it, you can't play online.

I agree, I think it's best if we all try to ignore him from now on.

XBL is nothing but an online pass, XBL is really just a glorified rental service. You don't actually own your games, you only own a portion and MS owns the rest. Online pass is kind of the same thing but it's just a one time deal, XBL is a forever online pass. Don't pay it you can't play half (and in some cases more than half) of your game you own.

Like I said, XBL is nothing but a rental service.

As for the TC, you really want to know the reason why we won't stand up to Sony? Because it would be like us standing up to get you to leave SW and never come back. In other words, it would be useless.

So if we're considering XBL an online pass then I suppose we should also note that XBL isn't the first subscription put into place to play games online.

SegaNet, for instance, pre-dated XBL, and on top of that there were plenty of MMOs before XBL that charged monthly to play.

Like Sony hasn't milked anyone before with PS1, PS2, & now, PS Vita...

Containmomentum

Sony doesn't charge for online play, nor do they do "subscription" deals (the new Xbox deal, which is terrible). You buy a Sony console *ONCE* unless it has a hardware issue, but that should not count because all consoles have hardware issues now and then which is a part of owning a gaming console, or even a PC. You don't buy a Microsoft console just once, you have to keep on paying for online. Microsoft doesn't need to come to your house to rob you, you let them in willingly to rob you.

Do you have Cable TV? Then your whole post is invalid.

Then name me a competing company that's offering FREE cable LEGALLY?

I'll wait.;)

If only they could release exclusive that actually sold millions like exclusives are suppose to sell. They will be charging for online when the PS4 gets released. So you'll get your wish. lol!!

because selling million defines a great game. If this is the case, then the Wii makes both the ps3, and the 360 basically irrelevant.

That is done for rentals and used games cow. If you buy it new there is no online pass, it comes with the game. That is done with the PS3 as well, don't forget that cute monthly bill your mommy pays to the internet company.

Lol hey I pay my own internet, no reason to be so sensitive Mr Lem. I know it must be hard getting ripped off with XBL but that's no reason to hate on me, you should be hating on MS instead, mabey then they would make it free.

But I'm not going to mention your mother because I don't like bringing peoples family into debates online, I try to not make it personal. I would appreciate it if you did the same courtesy as well.

How does selling less than before equal "ruining the industry"? Nothing you've said lays out any such scenario, just your personal dislike for the company.

Funny, I don't feel ripped off. I do however get annoyed when I can't get on PSN for hours at a time due to network errors. And hate on you? Don't flatter yourself, your not that important.

their exclusives almost always sell well.

They don't sell like Halo or Mart Kart. That would be considered World Class Exclusive. Only PS3 exclusive that actually sold like a World Class exclusive is MSG4, GT5 and maybe Uncharted. That's about it.

Losing 6.7 billion in 2011 is fine? lol!! I guess you haven't been keeping up on current events. I don't know about them hurting the industry. I think they are hurting their own company more then anything else. When you are losing billions every quarter it's time to change your strategy. Having FREE online service isn't making them any money. Their digital magazine got terminated a month ago. Is anything still using the major failed HOME? Sony doesn't even talk about that anymore. I wonder why? lmao. Not talking about the PSP Go anymore either. Another failed attempt to take Nintendo's market shares. At least gamers and warned them not to release that thing. PSVita is better, but still too expensive. Poor launch. So.. no, Sony isn't fine like you say.

Only bad thing Sony did this gen was having an arrogant attitude (arrogance is NOT confidence) and launching an over priced systemShadowMoses900

Two points about this one sentence. First, the PS3 was expensive not over priced. They were losing something like $100-200 for each console they sold at $600. Second, choosing to launch the console at $600 wasn't arrogance it was necessity based on the first point I mentioned.

Sony is the best one right now in terms of the big three. The one who is ruining gaming is MS :P.

Last I checked, Sony was fine and made quality hardware and software. Please stop this crusade against Sony and have fun with PC games.

Is anyone still using the major failed HOME? Sony doesn't even talk about that anymore. I wonder why? lmao. Not talking about the PSP Go anymore either. Another failed attempt to take Nintendo's market shares. At least gamers and warned them not to release that thing. PSVita is better, but still too expensive. Poor launch. So.. no, Sony isn't fine like you say.

That's not because of the Playstation brand. Its other areas that are getting their teeth kicked in.

What?!?! LMAO!! Qore isn't part of the Playstation brand? http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/04/10/sony-discontinues-qore-digital-magazine.aspx HOME isn't part of Playstation brand. PSP Go and PSVita isn't part of the Playstation brand? There are all Playstation products are aren't profiting for Sony and causing them to lose money. Sure, the PS3 is keeping the Playstation brand afloat, but as a whole Sony is not fine. Their hardware and software have not always been top quality like you say. It took 2years, multiple price cuts and a whole new redesigned PS3 for it to finally take off and start selling like it should have when it was launched. So stop trying to make excuses for the company. Sony can recover, but it'll take time. I'm interested to see how Kaz handles things.

$6.7 billion loss is not only in the PS brand. When are people going to understand that?

DeadMan1290
No one said it was. lol!! Still, Sony is not fine as a whole. If the company fails, so will the Playstation brand.

In REALITY, they will most likely sell off all their non-profitable divisions for a loss and just focus on the ones that prosper.

I don't know about. Microosoft didn't even do a price cut last year and still almost sold as many units as the PS3 in 2011. Even though the Kinect doesn't have a huge number of quality titles, it's still selling million or units and millions of software. Microsoft is just disappointing their hardcore gamers. They aren't hurting the industry as a whole.

Replace Sony with Nintendo and your thread will actually make sense. We direct too much hate on MS, Nintendo started this whole casual crap movement.

Make some sense. All i said was Playstation brand is not the cause of Sony's problems as a company...which is fact. A fact you basically just backed up, so I'm not even sure what your ranting about. They have their hands in a lot more areas than Playstation, and many of those are tanking hard. While we are at it...what does Qore have to do with anything? Its their monthly magazine. Im sure they cut it when people stopped subscribing. HOME is making Sony money. They are microtransactioning people to death in there. Just because you dont like it, doesnt mean its not making money. Vita just launched, so trying to tell me that's a cause of Sony money problems makes no sense at all. A year from now? Fine. But like most platforms in the early going, it hasn't had a chance to even get on its feet yet. PSP Go is the only valid point you have made in that whole rant.
