Why won't Sony ever make a Pokemon clone for their handhelds?

Sony has a history of making nice games similar to competitors. Back in the PS1 era, Crash Bandicoot wasSony's answer to Super Mario. Apart from the mainplatforming games,you had Crash Team Racing vs Mario Kart, Crash Bash vs Mario Party, in addition to other various franchises apart from Crash Bandicoot. Even today, you could argue that LttleBigPlanet competes with Paper Mario, and ModNation Racers competes with Mario Kart.

So... if there is one other Nintendo clone that Sony can make, it would have to be Pokemon for the NGP. Maybe a "mature" title, perhaps a cross between Pokemon and Monster Hunter? That would sell like hotcakes in Japan, plus it would sell NGP systems. Pretty neat idea, huh? Unfortunately, the only PS1 game that resembles anything like this is Jade Cocoon. Could use something else though.

I'm pretty sure Sony tried it with that 'Invizimals' thing. Looked like an interesting concept but not my cup of tea :P It looks like the 3DS may have taken a few ideas from it though, interestingly.

Persona 3 Portable is close enough(and much, much, much, much better I might add). They don't need to directly copy Pokemon.

On topic, I was sort of thinking about Sony and the whole pokemon-ish thing. I found it it wasn't possible since Nintendo and gamefreak are basically the people that own the franchise and it's like on their leash. The best Sony could do with is Yu-gi-oh and that looks to be a Konami thing. I think Sony could pay them off for having the "Tag Force" games on the NGP but, it definitly needs more work. If Sony want to invest in that, it could be one a lucraditve second party investment. At least, in Japan and over seas that's an in the bank investment.

Sony is way too late. For the Pokemon players here, you know all the work that goes in, EV, IV training, pseudo legends, the movies, the locations, weaknesses. Sony should just try to stick with trying to get MH as an exclusive or something.

And by "stick" I simply mean try, not like it has already happened.
