some people maybe buy a ps3 just too watch bluray movies but the wii is 100% just for games ;)
Topic: Why would anyone buy a Wii right now?
Answer: There's many answers. I guess I'll list a few:
1.) They like Nintendo and feel this will be a good idea
2.) They're too poor to afford a 360/PS3 and they want to be "cool", so they buy a Wii
3.) They are a complete Nintendo fanboy and have bought every Nintendo console and game released to the public
4.) They think the commercials for the Wii still exist and decide to buy one
5.) They think the Wii will help them lose weight instead of a balanced diet of healthy eating and getting exercise
6.) The person CAN afford a super crazy ultra powerful PC/360/PS3 but decide in the end, the Wii is better (that's their opinion)
7.) They bought it because it's light and doesn't require much setup

Anyone that is even remotely informed about the gaming console industry wouldn't want a Nintendo's junk because:
-It is overpriced for the technology it offers.
-There are lots of bad casual games on it.
-All the notable Nintendo characters have been done to death. Nintendo is out of ideas.
-The Wii remote is a gimmick; a normal controller would work just as good.
-Primitive graphics. Kameo probably looks better than anything Nintendork currently has.
-Granted, the Wii has good games, but there's not a single game that ever tries to offer something more complex than Mario Galaxy. No interesting video game stories - just ol' Mario trying to save the Princess again, and I guess Link does pretty much the same thing, right?
you answered your thread question with your last statement: "granted, the Wii has good games." why else would someone buy a gaming console? Why?
- Guess people that want try something new
- People that like easy things
- People that want work out in front of tv?(wii spots/wii fit ftw)
- People that got friends that talk about how fun Wii is and then want it aswell
- People that want the best game ever, Punch out (wii version)

Not to mention imo anyway that with their way overused series there newest installments on the wii have basically been franchise killers in terms of quality.
