Not really concerned about the price of the console. I am a bit bothered by the £75 rrp for Mario Kart. What are the chances of Mario Kart World going on sale? I rarely see MK8 Deluxe go on sale regularly

DK and Mario Kart World are better than any cheap game y'all got on PC, PS5 and Xbox. Hence the price. It's called quality over quantity. Y'all keep playing your cheap garbage while Nintendo fans spend a little more money on premium quality masterpieces. Ok?
Wrong. Mario , Zelda and Donkey Kong will be 70-100 per game with taxes plus you also need a Nintendo Direct subscription to play online.
On the other hand, you can play perfectly fine games on xbox/PC game pass, PSN + or both for $0. These include God of War Ragnarök, Balders gate, Forza, Ninja Gaiden 2 black, Last of us, Diablo, Halo infinite, Doom The Dark Ages. Plus free to play games w/o a subscription needed such as overwatch 2, Minecraft and League of Legends.
Now don't fucking tell me that God of War Ragnarök, Balders gate, Forza, Bloodborn, Ninja Gaiden 2 black, Last of us, Diablo, Halo infinite, NG4, Doom The Dark Ages are THAT much worse than Mario and Donkey Kong to the point where it justifies paying 70-100 per game (w/ tax) AND pay to use online when you can game for a $10 a month subscription fee AND play the best games in the world.
YES. Nintendo is ripping you off.
I enjoy their games. It's as simple as that.
It's cheaper than my PS5 and Steam Deck were, and I'll definitely get a lot more use out of it than the PS5. Plus the games aren't that much more expensive than other new release titles, which typically have day one versions that are more expensive than Mario Kart World.
*edit* Ohhh, are US prices a lot higher? Donkey Kong is up for preorder here in Australia, and it's only ~$63 USD.
Forget about the price of the system, look at the price of games. Mario , Zelda and Donkey Kong will be 70-100 per game with taxes plus you also need a Nintendo Direct subscription to play online.

What part of
"Donkey Kong is up for preorder here in Australia, and it's only ~$63 USD."
do you not understand? Planeforger can preorder DK for around $63.
Its the same thing over here in europe. Doom The Dark Ages costs 80 euro on Steam. That is the price of Mario Kart World on the eshop.
After comparing some prices, the Switch 2 is pretty much comparable to the rest of the AAA games. The 80 dollars sucks don't get me wrong. But the issue isn't Nintendo, as much as it is inflation and capitalism.
Switch 2 games... cost the same here as any other AAA game on Steam.
Either 70 or 80.
@Maroxad: They've got an obligation to maintain an agenda. Complain about Switch 2 prices while owning a Valve Index
Though the price of the new Mario Kart & enhance ports can shove a dick and **** off!
Just glad I grabbed a Kart bundled with it so it comes up cheaper, ain't touching those ports what so ever. It's DK & Kart for me.

Thats a moot point because you can play Doom the Dark ages day 1 on xbox game pass for free. Hell, Doom could be $1,000 and it would still be cheaper than the $80 you pay for Mario Kart World because you can play it free w/ a $10 monthly subscription.
You can easily game for a $10 monthly subscription and play games such as NG4, Balders gate, Forza, Ninja Gaiden 2 black, Far Cry, Diablo, Halo infinite, Doom The Dark Ages, God of War , The Last of Us etc. or you can dish out hundreds if not a year on Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong.
Gaming in 2025 is cheaper than ever if you are smart about it. If you go the Nintendo route, its by far the most expensive its ever been.

You can't play all of those on a single monthly subscription, and while you can play all of those on PC. There is nothing stopping me from owning multiple platforms. In fact, I already do.
And Baldur's Gate? Are you aware that Baldur's Gate 3 is not on Gamepass and will likely NEVER come to gamepass? Larian themselves spoke about that.
And the games I bolded. I have absolutely no interest in ever playing.
Meanwhile I will play NG4, Doom The Dark Ages, alongside the Nintendo games I want. This choice is not mutually exclusive, I can pick both. I get to pick the best of all worlds.
In fact. By skipping another generation of GPUs, that already was enough to cover up the cost of the Switch 2 and then some.

That's your opinion. Fact is there are plenty of quality games for free. I also never mentioned Deathloop, overwatch,Ghost of Tsushima, gears of War, Bloodborne and Minecraft in there. Next month I will play Doom the Dark ages for free and by the end of this year I will play NG4 all for free. How many free games does Nintendo give you?
Gaming in 2025 is cheaper than ever if you are smart about it. If you go the Nintendo route, its by far the most expensive its ever been. If you want to spend thousands and thousands and $63+ per game to play Nintendo games, when you can largely do so with a cheap monthly subscription of PS+ or PC/xbox game pass, then that's on you. But don't deny that its targeted at wealthier families in USA/Europe/Japan and South Korea, not poorer families and people in developing nations, and is indeed significantly more expensive.

So in addition to pitting multiple subscription service against the switch, you are now also pitting multiple SYSTEMS against the switch 2.
And again...
"Meanwhile I will play NG4, Doom The Dark Ages, alongside the Nintendo games. I also want. I can pick both."
I am picking up a Switch 2 because I think the enjoyment I will get from games like DK, Mario Kart and more will be greater than the cost. I don't pick one system and stick with it. In gen 9, I played on PC and Switch, in Gen 7 and 8 I played on PC, Xbox 360/One, Wii/U and PS3 and had access to a PS4.
I’ve reached the final stage of grief, Acceptance.
Will probably get the Mario Kart World bundle now though. May as well shave a few dollars off the total cost. They game looks fantastic and I sure as hell want to be playing that at launch.

I got past it yesterday.
When I looked at the prices on the steam store and realized that these games cost just as much as AAA games do on Steam.

Yeah, but even ONE single subscription of PC/xbox game pass would give you NG4, Gears of War , Forza, Ninja Gaiden 2 black, deathloop, Far Cry, Diablo, Halo infinite, Doom The Dark Ages etc. Plus you can access other free games without game pass such as Minecraft, League of Legends and Overwatch 2 .
I know that the Switch 2 is a good system, all i'm saying is that its VASTLY overpriced and catered towards the rich. The Nintendo I knew growing up, was for working class families and made gaming more accessible in those in developing nations. Today its for upper middle income families in USA/Canada/Europe/Japan/South Korea. Can you imagine being a kid and asking your parents for an $80 game and monthly access to Nintendo Direct? That's why I'm disappointed in them.

While the Switch 2 is expensive hardwarewise. The NES, SNES and N64 were nowhere near as cheap as you remember.
A SNES game costing 50 dollars in 1996 would cost around 105 dollars today.
It is called inflation. It sucks! But you are directing your anger at the wrong target.

No. Gaming is CHEAPER than its ever been.
You can easily game for a $10 monthly subscription on game pass or PS+ and play games such as NG4, Death Loop, Forza, Ninja Gaiden 2 black, Far Cry, Diablo, Halo infinite, Doom The Dark Ages etc. on gamepass or you can dish out hundreds if not THOUSANDS a year on Mario, Zelda and Donkey Kong.
I don't plan on buying ANY games this year unless gta 6 comes out. I will just play ng2 blk, ng4, overwatch 2, Doom the Dark Ages for free on my PC game pass.
Now what the **** is so special about Mario Kart and Donkey Kong that it would costs 63-100 w/ tax and a monthly subscription to play online , while games such as NG4, Death Loop, Forza, Ninja Gaiden 2 black, Far Cry, Diablo, Halo infinite, Doom The Dark Ages, God of War ,Bloodborne, The Last of Us etc are all free w/ a cheap $10 a month subscription?

That is what I said.
Gaming is CHEAPER than ever. And it doesnt matter whether that is through a subscription service or not. When you factor in inflation. Games today are incredibly cheap. Even on the Switch.
I don't think the system's price is that bad. As it is now, it's just a bit more expensive than what I was expecting.

I guess thats my point.
They are cheaper than ever on xbox/PC/PS because of dirt cheap subscriptions which allow subscribers to play thousands of games for free. Plus steam deals.
Nintendo is a different story because their games will still cost $63-$100 after taxes and Nintendo does not reduce their prices.
I don't think the system's price is that bad. As it is now, it's just a bit more expensive than what I was expecting.
My point is that the games(not the system) are extremely expensive relative to PC/PS/xbox.

You are wrong on your third paragraph.
Even Nintendo is cheaper than it was in the NES-GC days. The price of new video games have not kept up with inflation anywhere.

60 dollar games, 130 dollar system and 15 dollar controller.. Those prices would be nice today.
So.. with inflation, Switch 2 should be around 260 dollars, and it's controllers should be 30? But it's way the **** more? Is that to cover up for not selling games for 120 dollars?
@bcroger3: I'm with you when it comes to games being too expensive. But imo I don't mind spending that for a top tier game, like DK seems to be, imo. That just means I'll be buying very few Nintendo games and gamepass will most probably be my main platform. I mean, I'm playing Stalker 2 and after I'll have a bunch of games there a really want to play next. So it's more of a Nintendo issue than mine..

Adjusted or NOT adjusted for inflation, games are cheaper than they have even been- as long as you stay away from Nintendo since it does not offer really many free games.

Donkey Kong
How come he doesn't look like that in Bananza?
Was Donkey Kong's design in Donkey Kong Bananza is based on his character design from the Super Mario Bros. movie? Some observers said the same character design also appeared in Mario Kart World.
I will just play ng2 blk, ng4, overwatch 2, Doom the Dark Ages for free on my PC game pass.
Your Game Pass is free?
Cool, I pay for Netflix, so I watch movies and shows for free. I also pay for an internet connection, so I get internet for free. Went to the grocery store and bought some food, so I have free food.
$450 for a game console + up to $100 per game w/ taxes(worst part)+ pay for Nintendo Switch online subscription.
Why the hell would you pay 65-100 (including taxes) for a game? I get most of my games off xbox game pass on my PC for $10 a month. I occasionally pay $60 for a ps 5 game, but thats pretty rare. These free games include NG4, Death Loop, Balders gate, Forza, Ninja Gaiden 2 black, Far Cry, Diablo, Halo infinite, Doom The Dark Ages. All my cell phone games are free. Occasionally I will get steam deals for $20 a game.
To play Mario or Zelda for close to $100 with tax when you can get so many games free with Microsoft and Sony game passes(which include God of war and the Last of Us) on PC/ps5/xbox ? Really?
When I was growing up, Nintendo was known to be the cheapest, but now they are by far the most expensive.
Probably because you won't be able to shove a ps5 or a ps4 with an xbox subscription in your pocket and play while riding the subway? This is an example.I don't have a Nintendo Switch, but I can say that demand meets supply. As long as people buy it for that kind of money, it will continue to cost that much, or even more. The fact that not everyone can afford it is another matter.Everyone starts from their own capabilities.

Note the library on display there. This is the SNES near the end of its life cycle. The N64 was right around the corner.
That said, at launch, the SNES was cheaper than the Switch 2, but not by much. Taking inflation into account, the Switch 2 is the third most expensive Nintendo console only behind the Wii U and NES.
Considering that I bought 30ish games on the Switch 1, if the NS2 follows the same pattern I will end up saving money quite shortly. Especially as I can use Switch 1 controllers for the Switch 2.
@onesiphorus: "Was Donkey Kong's design in Donkey Kong Bananza is based on his character design from the Super Mario Bros. movie? Some observers said the same character design also appeared in Mario Kart World."
People say it's based off Miyamto's original design.
unfortunately i agree
But i did serve with man-bitches that would lay in traffic for turn based crap like Pokemon. So to each their own

I've been telling everyone that the Bundle is well worth the price for the value you are getting at than it looks expensive by themselves. Best to get it now on launch before the prices go up assume that's not the case.
