Why would rockstar make Agent exclusive?

If they are grooming it as the next GTA, you'd think they'd want to cash in on all platforms. GTA was huge on the 360. That makes no sense to me. Did Sony pay a huge dollar for it or what? Or by the time it comes out they expect microsoft to have a new console coming out? Which they will eventually port it to? Are they just going back to their sony roots just for the interm or what?

It's not replacing GTA. GTA will remain their largest franchise. It's a completely different style of game. You could've wrote the same article about Bully, Redemption, etc.

I think it's a money thing personally. I think by the time it comes out the 360 will be winding down and a new console will be on the horizon and rockstar probably feels the ps3 will be the best console to cash in on at the time. I bet it ultimately comes to the new xbox. Sony probably offered a good chunk to keep it exclusive for the time being and rockstar took it.

Before even the PS3 came out Sony and Rockstar made a deal to make an exclisive game for it.

From this I can conclude that they just want to go ape on the BD. Vide games are a creative business.

Focusing resources on a single platform can generally lead to better results, since more time is spent making the game good instead of making it work on several platforms.

Makes you wonder why games like L4D 1&2 are X360/PC only. Yes, Microsoft paid them $$ just like they seem to do with soe many developers because they themselves don't have a proper first-party lineup.

If I'm not mistaken, this was the result of some bargaining that occurred between Sony and Rockstar pertaining to GTAIV going multiplat. Even though the Agency sounds infinitely more interesting than GTAIV, Sony got the short end of that stick considering they would have moved platforms like no other if GTAIV had been exclusive.

Okay PS3 lovers, it was for money... MONEY, not for more powerful hardware or more storage space alright.

No matter what your tiny little brains may think most devs hate working with the PS3 because of its silly archetecture and rather using the 360 as the lead platform, Kaz Hirahai said so himself.
