Why you might not want to pre-order (1886) The Order: 1886

Outside of graphics, game never really looked good to me. It has the ability to be awesome with its setting, but it appears they are going in the wrong direction with it. All the impressions have stated the game is mediocre or bad. Never had it preordered.

Why the hell would I want to pre-order anything the way things are going for "AAA" releases lately. Bloodborne might be the exception.

It was always suppose to a launch title to showcase the ps4's graphical potential, liek Ryse and Killzone.

But it got delayed and turned into another middle year game. Now it must deal with these issues.

I don't preorder any game. Cause I am poor. I buy em under $10.

This has to be the worst build-up to a game release I've ever seen...In every trailer they're just giving the players reasons why not to buy the game. I mean... a QTE count down from three?, combat based solely on QTEs? Jesus...

Like any console fanboy is ever going to admit an upcoming exclusive for their darling platform looks mediocre...it one exists, it is the next great thing. That's what happens when there are only a handful of exclusives a year.

Think it's a "What If?" scenario. Humankind is at war with some werewolves -- not really called werewolves in the game, but I'm gonna call them that anyway -- so they were forced to take advantage of the Industrial Revolution to build advanced weaponry.

That's why you'll see alternative versions of the AK-47 and the like.

I pre ordered the collectors edition. I'm gonna be a man and stick by my decision. I got the Destiny Ghost Edition too. I really only preorder collectors editions anyway.

Took me about the same time, prolly a few hours more since I kept replaying stages.

Anyways, regarding this shovel ware, only dummies are going to pre order this. I mean the guy is clearly just giving you a warning before you pre order that there is a possibility that a big turd is going to launch in The Order: 1886. Graphics look amazing, story is probably fun but who knows about the rest.

The 6 hr comment was meant to be a generic snark remark at how many single player games have significantly reduced in content for the sake of honestly don't have a clue. How could the game industry go from 20hr - 48hr single player campaign to 6hrs is beyond unacceptable. That means I can beat the game on one Sunday afternoon. Some enjoy replaying the same missions over and over, but that redundancy is not shared by the majority. These half ass short games have become the norm ever since Heavenly Sword for the PS3 received critical acclaim and well the rest is history. Every other game can now be beaten in about 6hrs when rushed and personally, as a gamer who really doesn't give a shit about the story in games, bad news. Yes Bayonetta 2 is good and so was MGS4, but if I'm not clocking in the same hours as lets say an MMO or any game that has high replay value, the devs can shove that game up their ass cuz they know its BS. We are getting less and less content but pay more? Doesn't make sense. Bayonetta 2 had less content than your typical PS2 DBZ game which is just downright pathetic considering many DBZ games are copy and paste. Prefect my ass every game has cons.

Oh c'mon now, the hate for this game is getting ridiculous. Its like the "critics" really want to hate on it by default because thats the trendy thing to do atm. Is it a masterpiece? Hell no. But its sure looks like a fun game to play. Definitely has more gameplay than Ryse, thats for sure. This is why every time I hear "gaming journalism" I feel like to blow my brains out. If they continue to reduce single player content, then I will simply stop buying games. Due to recent events I have already put any further purchases on hold, but as long as we still have all these morons pre-ordering pieces of shit, I fear not much is going to change any time soon.

Sounds about right. Ryse looked great, this looks great. Honestly though, I'd rather play repetitive fighting vs infinite quicktime events.

well to be fair, this game always looked bad.

It does look like a straight forward 3rd person shooter - might not have that slight "adventure" or climbing elements like Uncharted. But what's wrong with that? The only thing that concerns me is some of the areas shown seem WAY too tight. I haven't watched too much gameplay, but I've already seen too many firefights in narrow hallways or interiors. There needs to be some more open outside areas at least the level of something like Last of Us or Uncharted (since those were last gen games!). If everything is cover shooting in tight areas (i.e. playing wack-a-mole) it could be bad, but so long as there is some diversity in the environments I think it has good potential. As it's not innovative it's review score is probably capped at something like 7 or 8. But it shouldn't be unfairly punished unless they are punishing ALL games that aren't innovative. Of course if everything turns out to be in tight corridors like I said, that's where it would legitimately deserve a worse score.

Gaming journalism has been weird for years now, where it punishes some games for reasons that other games seem to always get a free pass on.

Sadly; the console people are very thin on substance, chances are this will sell well purely on graphics as the Killzone series has; regardless of being mediocre.

Most pc players still play Halflife 2.

PC gamers are artists who appreciate art. The young console people are very much the Michael Bay cinema goer. Looking for MTV reviews of the next money maker.

To attempt to insult a cinema goer for enjoying the Seven Samurai or Casablanca; would be laughable. But, lacking the incredible foresight of a hardcore pc gamer, attempts are made to mock gaming.

You know some gamers just play through it 1-2 times then done with it, ya it was good for its time but gotta move on man. It is so many new games and backlog get bigger and bigger as it is without be stuck playing 1-2decade old games you already finished...

I'll be picking this one up. Style and story are right up my alley. Fan of QTEs also. Seems you either like those kinds of games or you don't. Knocking it for having them seems about as intelligent as knocking a fps for being a fps.

lol comments like those are beyond me. The Order has an interesting setting, beautifull graphics and it seems to have proper gunplay to me. Its enough for me to get excited over it. I like cinematic games and I want those who dont to stfu and respect others tastes
