[QUOTE="pins_basic"][QUOTE="jedigemini"]PSP and DS were neck early on without either platform having the clear advantage (DS was usually selling better in Japan, and the PSP was usually selling better in NA... give or take). The Wi has been dominating in every territory since its release, and it's only dominating increasingly more as time goes by. No they werent, the PSP slaughtered the DS for a few months but of course you don't remember that.[QUOTE="pins_basic"][QUOTE="jedigemini"][QUOTE="pins_basic"][QUOTE="jedigemini"][QUOTE="pins_basic"]Remember when the PSP use to sell a **** load more than the DS? The sheep did the samething, why? Cause things changed and a few months isn't enought to make daily threads claiming the Wii is untouchable the way you do.jedigemini
The PSP never, at any point, passed the DS's worldwide install base, and if you're going to claim it was slaughtering the DS please provide links to prove to me that it did.Just go check the NPD when the DS had to be combined with the GBA sales to total 120k while the PSP sold 250k every month after month. As you know that changed. It use to outsell it in Japan too for a few months.
I'm aware that the PSP bested the DS in a few NDP's after it's launch, but it never took the overall lead against the DS which always held up against the PSP in sales... your use of the word 'slaughter' is highly inappropriate... check out the console war if you want to see a slaughter. The Wii is outselling the 360 and PS3 in every territory, every month since its release by upwards of 2:1, 3:1, now 5:1 and 15:1 respectively.
Also for you to use the PSP vs. DS argument againt the Wii is insane when considering the DS has gone on to obliterate the PSP, it applies many of the same marketing principals as the Wii, and it's backed by the same company as the Wii.
How is it diffrent? The PSP use to outsell the DS by quite a bit but things change and now the Wii outsell the PS3 and 360 but things could change just like they did with the PSP.The PSP is failing against the DS now for the same reason the the PS3 is failing against the Wii. The consumers have spoken, and they prefer pick up and play, cheap fun games rather than high end epic games. Again, what's the difference? The consumer use to pick the PSP over the DS and now they are picking the DS over the PSP. They are currently picking the Wii but what is to stop them from changing their minds and going with something else later on?
