If they'd just release a few of the freaking classics that they are showering Japan with.

The only thing that has been keeping my Wii on my shelf at all is the potential that Mario RPG and Earthbound might finally hit the system, the former a game that is lost at my parent's house and the latter being one that I've only (cough) played on an emulator (cough) and would like to finally own and play a legitimate copy.

Well I found out today that this last June Mario RPG was released in Japan,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Virtual_Console_games_(Japan)

so that's a good sign. Mother isn't on that list though, I thought it was already released

And as for PSN, as much as I have come to love Stardust HD and Pixeljunk Eden, I can't help by be jealous of this list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PSOne_clas sics

Where games like Alundra and Einhander would be happy downloads for $6.

And I KNOW that people would be estatic over Xenogears, Metal Gear Solid, and Brave Fencer Musashi.

Maybe "KILL" is a strong word, but for me at least, those clas sics alone would make me completely ignore anything that Microsoft's service has right now...

(I'm still kinda wish N+ would come on over to Wiiware or PSN though.)

By the way, what platform are you getting Megaman 9 on?

Personally I'm going with my PS3, because it has the best controller IMO. I don't consider the sideways Wiimote to be a good enough "NES" controller for nostalgia purposes, and the clas sic Controller, though pretty much the same as the PS3's, it doesn't have the hand holds the PS3 controller has (Without crappy third party attachments anyway.)

As for the X-Box, its controller is going to suck the most for Megaman 9, at least for me, because I think a regular D-Pad is better for that game rather than an anologue stick, and the X-Box has the most uncomfortable D-Pad next to the Gamecube Controller.

Super Mario RPG has even been rated in Australia like 6 weeks ago so it will be coming sometime this year outside of Japan.

I've mentioned this many times before, but the PSN also has over 100 PS1 games up for download to the PSP or PS3 INCLUDING Xenogears, Resident Evil, And Resident Evil 2!

Edit: Didn't notice Xenogears already on your list, but really.

They're 15$ I believe for the Japanese downloads, however.

... wait, what?

I'm confused. You make it sound like I can download them now even though they aren't released here...

Well, actually, you can download them. Its possible to open a Japanese account, buying Japanese cash cards for them off ebay, play-asia, or ncsx, and then download the games ... they'll be in Japanese though and I don't think this works for PSP owners.

Meh

It's not really meant for system wars, it's not like anyone can argue the PS3 version will have better 8-bit graphics then the 360.

Arguing over Dpads is just...silly too

Well, I'm not getting it on Wii. I'm maxed out on that console's very limited Memory.

That leaves it to the other consoles.

The PS3 has an advantage with 2D games, having a better Dpad, and the other PS3 advantage is that once you buy a game on PSN, you can have friends download it for FREE on their system, provided you give them your PSN name.

I have buds that do that for RB music, on Two seperate PS3's and that's pretty awesome.

Still, I will wait for the reviews to make my final decision, but I'm leaning PS3 (Controller and the Ability to share the game I bought, or trade it for other games.)

Wow.

I didn't know this. I'm not sure what to think of it.

It's obvious that Microsoft has been a little more sensitive about piracy...

Sigh, another guy who didn't bother reading the whole thread.

And no, it's not silly if you played the old Megaman games on the NES.

Yeah, think of all those Rock Band Songs, Guitar Hero Songs, PSN Games, PSOne games, Expansion's to Retail games, that you could Download for FREE if you traded your Name with a Buddy. Pretty Awesome advantage.

Playing the trial for Braid was perfectly wine with the analog stick and it's a platformer

Braid was designed with ANALOG in mind, but the traditional 2D stuff isn't.

Buy StreetFighter or Mortal Kombat on XBLA and try to get 200 points on them...lol. You'll see.

N+ and other platformers on XBL work great with the Analog as well, for the same reason.

Now, Capcom could compensate for this since MM9 isn't an ACTUAL clas sic, but if they do stay true to the old engine, then your analog stick is only going to be registering 4 directions, which can be awkward.

Funny thing is, on the blog, Sony is told exactly that all the time by a lot of people. That if they would just get more classic games, they'd make a crap ton of money, and quite a few people would be all for PSN over XBL and the VC. But they insist they are having SUCH a terrible time liscensing the games for re-release. They say older games like that are pretty hard to get all the proper liscense for, I mean, it's not like some other system gets two to three games a week from systems even older and more obscure than the PSone every week. No sir, that just doesn't happen. Nope.

I mean honestly, even Microsoft updates their own classic library on a schedule, and they have much less to work with. Yet we still get MAYBE one PSone classic every three months, and sometimes, it's not even a classic. Just a game that happened to be on the PSone, that sucked when it came out, and is just offensive to charge money for here and now. It's a shame, but they seem to be perfectly happy completely blowing off their own fanbase, and doing what they want to do, rather than what paying customers want them to do. But SCEA hates money, what can you do?

I kind of felt bad when I did it the first time and got SSHD, Calling all Cars, GT: Prologue, Tekken: DR, and the Warhawk/CoD4 maps....for free. I soon got over it when I started playing :P.

Yeah I really wish Sony would get there stuff together and start supporting more PSone classics on PSN outside of Japan. I really want me some classic games and I think adding a few new ones each month would be completely reasonable.
