[QUOTE="sonicmj1"][QUOTE="flazzle"][QUOTE="sonicmj1"] I own a Wii, and this E3 isn't the first time I've been critical of the company's strategy. I haven't sold it yet, because there are still certain titles I'm looking forward to, but support like this underpowered translation of Dead Rising is pretty insulting.

What do you find insulting? The way people are reacting to the Wii version or the fact capcom is making this for the Wii?
That Capcom considers this worthwhile Wii support.
If they really cared, they'd make a RE spinoff based on RE4 Wii Edition instead of butchering a really good 360 game.
WEll, the game isn't released yet so you can really say its butchered yet.
Also, why shouldnt capcom add a new series instead of adding to RE? Nintendo gets slammed all the time for over using Mario. People could say the same about capcom overusing RE.
Its also good business strategy to position the DR series for the next Nintendo system.
Capcom makes good RE games for GC and Wii, they can do it with DR. Why would they start dropping the ball now?
I certainly wouldn't complain if Capcom made another new IP for the Wii. But after Zak and Wiki's mediocre retail performance, it seems less likely than another RE game.
The difference between Dead Rising and RE is that Dead Rising was designed to take advantage of the power of the Xbox 360, not just graphically, but in how it was designed, such that it would be (or at least seems as though it would be) a game that couldn't really be replicated on significantly weaker hardware. It's a title that, when it came out, people lauded as one of the few games that you could point to and say, "This is what next-gen means," and mean it.
The issue with this endeavor is that they're trying to force the series onto hardware that it clearly wasn't meant for, that isn't powerful enough for it. And in that context, even if they try very hard, it'll be almost impossible to properly translate the Dead Rising experience onto the Wii.
Capcom didn't feel a need to 'strategically position' Resident Evil on Microsoft's platform before coming out with RE5, and while the Resident Evil remake was a great game for the Wii, other efforts to acclimate GC fans to the RE series (namely, the straight ports of RE 2, 3, and Code Veronica) weren't very successful. I don't like this endeavor, because the only way that they can bring this series to the Wii is to strip it of a lot of what makes it special, and then something much less appealing is left.
