Why would you take out Nintendo first party game sales? Wouldn't you have to do the same with the other ones? That would mean taking of Gears of War, Mass Effect, Halo 3, and various others. Their software totals would also go down by quite a bit.

IIRC, around July, the 360 had sold around 13 million 3rd party software units and the Wii had sold around 11 million 3rd party software units. This is without a system seller like GTAIV coming out for the Wii. If it did come out for the Wii, it would have easily outpaced the 360 software sales.

And that matters because...?

The kind of games Nintendo has put out have been excellent. MP3, SMG (GOTY 2007), Zelda, Fire Emblem, Battalion Wars 2, SSBB, Mario Kart Wii, Warioland, and Super Paper Mario. Seems like a good list to me :)

GTA IV wasn't a 10/10 for me. I played 15 minutes of it and I bored of it. I'm glad I only rented the game. If anything is a marketing gimmick, it's GTA IV for pretending it's for the hardcore.

I'm not a Nintendo fanboy. I lean more towards Nintendo cause of all the hate, but that doesn't mean I don't criticize them when I feel it's warranted. I own a PC, PS3, and recently got a 360. Of course, I need to catch up on games on the 360 since I haven't tried most of the ones I'm interested in yet.

And good for you if you honestly gave SMG and SSBB a chance. I gave GTAIV a chance because I loved SA. I was disappointed in the changes they decided to make. Good thing I rented Folklore as well or else I wouldn't have had any other game to play that weekend.

Storage solution and friend codes. I don't like the SD card solution. I would have preferred them using the USB ports for an external hard drive. Friend codes don't need explaining. I just find it horrible how we can't even use our console friend codes for games rather than have an extra set of friend codes per game. That's retarded.

And like I said, I think Nintendo receives undue hatred and the 360 receives too much undue praised. I guess you can say I'm trying to balance out things, but I also do most of the things I do because it helps me pass the time at work :)

First, I would wager that more time and development went into WiiFit than most of your so-called core-games. WiiFit is a brand new piece of hardware and software that lets users interact with games in ways that haven't been done before on this scale. GTAIV and its kind are new flashier versions of the same old concepts.

Second, who cares if someone only plays 15 minutes of a game and says they personally don't like it or "gasp" they perfer a different game. It's called opinions, and just because GTAIV scored tons of high reviews does not make it a good game in everyone's eyes.

Third, maybe, just maybe, all of you people whining about how Nintendo has ruined this gen should step back and put some of that blame on MS and Sony too. Lets say the Wii didn't exist and there was only 360 and PS3 this gen. Do you think all those Wii, WiiFit, SMG, and WiiPlay sales would automaticaly transfer to one of the HD systems? I doubt a large percentage of them would. Look at the Japanese sales, HD is a non-factor. Price is a big issue and both were initially high, Production costs and time are huge. Here is is almost 2 years since launch and we're still waiting for LBP one of the most mentioned games at launch. Do you think any of those things might have been issues this gen?

Don't be so sure that all the genres are still being covered. With dev costs skyrocketing and gamer expectations (especially at the high end) continually climbing, thus preventing the dev costs from dropping, eventually a point of diminishing returns is reached, and market people start realizing it's a losing proposition. And basic economics tells you that if you're in a market where you can't make money, the only logical move is to move out.

Just compare last generation to this one. Square Enix managed to crank out three (well, four if you count 11) Final Fantasy titles and a number of spinoffs last generation. Not only that, 10 (which came out early in the gen) was great and 12 was at least noteworthy. Now look at this gen. We're more than halfway out and 13 still hasn't come out. Look how long it took MGS4 to be made. We're still waiting on GT5, which is being trickled out like an IV. You can't deny it--heavy hitters are fewer and further between compared to last gen, and that's evidence things are shrinking in the high end, the headliners, the ones people will wait in line for.

I think you make an excellent point here. People keep saying that the 360 is a great console, which it is, but I just don't see the same kinds of games coming out for it that the PS2 had. In their respective lifetimes, the PS2's lineup massively overshadows the 360's line up because devs were able to produce great games with smaller budgets and less time. This is why I'm not convinced the 360 is the greatest console of all time. It has great games, just not in the same calibur as the PS2's line up.

The Wii selling well doesn't mean core games are disappearing, they're doing fine. Value is subjective for people. The Wii is considered by many to have better controls than the other two and that is enough to pay the fee for the hardware.

Plus, how are you so sure that having a gym membership is more effective than Wii Fit? There are a few things that Wii Fit does better than a gym membership.

1. It is fun exercising with Wii Fit

2. People can do it from the privacy of their own home without being judged by others

3. There are different kinds of lessons like Yoga, Aerobics, and balance games that you can't get at the gym, or you can for extra fees or if you're one of the first to the class.

4. This game's philosophy is based around improving your center of balance and posture.

5. You can set a goal and watch yourself literally progress to meet it

6. The Wii and Wii Fit will last you more than 1 year of membership

ok. 360 has better graphics, yet the PC kills it and i still play my Wii. 360 arcade is similarily priced to Wii, yet Wii demolishes it in sales. Training in a gym will get you better results but only cause you can do more things, if you do the exact same exercises as the ones in Wiifit, you will get the same results.

now, lets compare sales of Wii to 360, and the impact of Nintendo against the impact of MS on the videogames market. what say you?

Lemmings and cows, you don't have to worry. It's pretty easy to find any game that has outsold Super Smash Bros, Galaxy and VERY easy to find a game that has outsold Metroid Prime Corruption.

The difference between Grand Theft Auto 4 and Wii Fit is that a majority of posters here actual care about GTA4 as a serious game to play, a majority here probably never will ever touch Wii Fit but will continue to use it in arguments.

Also remember GTA4 is an MA game, not bad considering this major hurdle, don't you think? Wii Fit is E for every fat person on the planet. hasn't the MA game sold more than Galaxy and SSBB? I know GTA4 is on two consoles, but if you're going to use Wii Fit as your weapon, get that silly toy out of here.

zelda tp on gamecube and wii resident evil4 on gamecube and the wii okami ps2 and wii wow impressive and i never said i was happy about TEH SALES and 3rd party support is essential to me .legol1

so there arent any games that are on ps3 AND ps2? Mercenaries 2? Guitar Hero 3? Rock band? are you still sure about that?
