Wii not the Console King.

A lot of people declared that Wii is the console winner with its amazing sales, and it has achieved its company's "console" heights of the past. but I hardly agree with that.

I know that the console has only been out like 1.5-2 years...but with the current game selection it has really not.

The only way Wii is winning, is sales. And if units sold is the only standard you use to rate a console, then Wii is the winner.

On every other aspect it fails.

I think 360 still the top console of this generation, up until now. I own both.

360 beats graphics and storage of Wii, it has better game selection and 3rd party support with games like GTA- gears- COD4-fable-ninja gaiden-and its really good xbl download content(maybe its a tie here is VC and wiiware is quite good).

I only realized this after I tried so hard to get a wii, and now that I have one, i am trying to buy a game and I only found a tiny selection of worthy games : zak & wiki-metroid-galaxy-zelda-no more heroes. That was about it.

I already have super smash, and as for mario kart these are for multiplayer...and I play alone because i don't invite friends to my room.

Most of the current selection is garbage, yes its selling more, but its not a BETTER console to own. I only discovered that the motion had a flaw after motionplus was introduced.

Now i am crossing my fingers that better hardcore games will be out, and by hardcore i mean not silly wii-play and sonic olympics, as I want to see these games and that why i bought my wii. But for so far, the best game selection is for the xbox and that is what really counts...maybe in time things will change, but for now, to me the wii is 2nd or 3rd in place....as a personal opinion I think 3rd....Only in sales its at #1

no be honest surely the only thing that matters in the real world is sales and at the moment opinions of you and me not so much....

I agree its not the best console... but I think for 150 notes its been a damm decent purchase for the following reasons:-

A Controller used correctly can be implemented into some very good games, NMH, MP3, SMG, Zack and Wiki, MOH Heroes 2, and hopefully Force Unleashed will be as good as I hope and use the Wii mote to the best it possible can.

Virtual Console... never had a NES, SNES, N64, the Sega consoles so its great to play some old school games

The online aint bad.. works fine in MOH Heroes 2... but then again the console wasn't designed for the core gamer as much as the PS3 and 360

Wii isn't the winner only if you make up titles like... wii isn't current gen, its "Today's gen" or other nonsense. In terms of game sales, its wins. In terms of hardware sales, its win. Its funny how last time when people mentioned a "winner" they never talked about quality of games, it was just sales.

Certainly it can't be graphics because that makes the puts the most sales and best library last gen the last place loser.

Even with quality... the Wii has as many 90 or higher rated games as the PS3 and it has more 90 or higher rated exclusives than the 360... and these games are in more genres than the PS3/360, so it holds it own in quality and is the leader in variety. If any non-Nintendo system had the stats of the Wii, there'd be no doubt as to who the winner was.

You need to dig out the old PS2 and get picking up some classics!

In the traditional way (sales) the Wii has won period. I don't see the PS3 catching up and Microsoft definitely doesn't have a chance to overtake the Wii.

Games will be decided between the PS3 and 360 by the end of this gen. The 360 has the lead at the moment though and who knows Nintendo and 3rd parties could step it up, this gen is far from over.

Trust me if you just got a ps2 and Wii at the same time you would be having more fun with the ps2s extremely large gaming library.The individuals statements are pretty much correct.

Why are you comparing a console that's been out in the market for 7 years to a console that bearly has 2? Are you afraid to compare it to other current gen consoles?

The winner in sales does not however mean the best console for gamers.

If the Wii library is like it is now at the end of this gen it wont be the best console for gamers but it can be Nintendo most profitable console.JLF1

Well I'm 21 and been playing video games since i was 6....I always go for the Nintendo system because I love Mario, Zelda, Star Fox and Kirby but that doesnt mean I can not see it's faults. I am fully aware that, while gamecube was my console of choice last generation...it was the worst of the three and was not up to the level of PS2 or X Box. However...this generation...Nintendo is owning again.

Well I'm 21 and been playing video games since i was 6....I always go for the Nintendo system because I love Mario, Zelda, Star Fox and Kirby but that doesnt mean I can not see it's faults. I am fully aware that, while gamecube was my console of choice last generation...it was the worst of the three and was not up to the level of PS2 or X Box. However...this generation...Nintendo is owning again.

But the PS2 had the games. As gamers we don't care about sales because we don't see any profit from it that go to us. We care about the games and the PS2 brought them last gen. The Wii is not bringing anything hardly this gen and IMO is as bad as it gets this gen.

The reason why the Wii is selling so good is becouse it's the only console the casual gamers own.

Mushroom men? De blob? yeah they look promising but they can also suck and three games can't really compare to the PS3 or 360 this fall/winter.

I would totally call it the best console ever if it had 1000 AAAA titles that's like 1000 MGS4,RE4, top of the line games. I would pay 5K for that god like gaming console. The only factors that matters is if the gamer is plzed, the companies only care about how much they sell. We are what matters, The GAMERS, with out us they're useless. If we all agree that the 5K system has the best games then it does, we know it's over priced but the games are what matter. We care more about the quality of games rather than number sold. If you care about numbers sold only you need to ask yourself do you care about the quality of the games or random console sales that don't effect you?

It's simply selling because
