Wii online... one year later

A year has passed...

what is the wii's status on online gaming and features? there are now lots of games that use online. some require friend codes to exchange levels, some use friend codes to play with friends but all allow random mp matches, and some dont use friend codes at all.

Gaming: online mulitplayer and features (leaderboards, level transfers, etc)

Medal of honor Heroes 2 (32 player online, etc )

Mario strikers charged (good online mp, etc)

Guitar hero 3 (good online mp, etc)

My Verdict:

A good start and it is getting better

Online needs to become a standard (hooked has online) NFS, Table tennis, tiger woods, lego starwars etc, dont??? no excuse

Friend codes... it seems that they are here to stay for this gen... at least we have the option of random matches

it also sucks that each games and the wii console itself have their own fc... hopefully a unified system soon or nexgen....maybe something just as safe but better and more intuitive than fc.....its not that hard to do....

no headset..... cmon nintendo....

free online = good

VC prices = ok for some, could be cheaper for some (9 dollar neo geo)

no HDD = fail.... with wiiware coming soon and bigger vc games aleady out... we can only hope nintendo has common sense...

at least allow us to load from sd cards....

Begging makes you look weak, anyway its SW and you're pretty much right so nobody much is gonna comment. Wiiware needs to be good and they need to add HDD support, my 2 cents. Oh and don't pat yourself on the back in the OP either, also makes you look lame.

the only thing keeping Nintendo from having good online is headsets......HarlockJC

and good games. Nintendos 1st party titles arent multiplayer online titles for the most part...so that is automatically going to make nintendos online offerings terribly weak give or take a few 3rd party sleeper hits here and there

wii is a toy??? was that really necessary .... i gues 360 is the only real gaming console.... which are more than toys now it seems....

do you even know how fcs work? there is no need to memorize anything.... you just add a person's fc once and then they are in your friends list forever.... adding a bunch of codes is still a pain... especially due to the fact that there are different codes for different games.

if you are a real gamer... you should try to play some wii games before you dismiss it... try some trauma center or zackand wiki.... great games that have unique gameplay not possible on any other system... wii cant compete in terms of graphics... but there are still plenty of great exclusive titles....

i posted this on system wars because I want people to compare wii's online with other systems online services.... to see if it is as really as bad as some people think or if its actually worse....

the last few mp games from nintendo have had online... everything before pokemon cant really be considered because online gaming hadnt really launched yet... what first party mp games came after pokemon... strikers and bwii... both which have online

i would like a hard drive because i am running low on space.

and i would like to only have one freind code and that is my wii's. i hate that you have to get friends codes over and over it bugs the hell out of me.

True, the wii's online isn't great (i'm hopinh it will catch up as i love the online of halo and would love something like that on mah wii) but you really have squeezed every fact of the wii's online and some good information there, Actually makes the wii's online look good :P

It has Friend Codes, that alone makes it significantly worse than LIVE. Also wii will never had demo's or a headset. Nintendo dont' want kids to talk to gron ups. Who cares if it's $50. It's $50 a year. That is nothing. People say you pay for XB Live well you pay for your Internet don't you? lol.

its slowly getting better, but its undeniable we need an HDD, headset and a unified username that is used for all games.

Its not any safer when kids are getting FCs from strangers off of sites like these.

true enough. the assumption was made by me that you did own a 360... point remains. they are all toys. at least recognize that. hell, my pc @ home is mostly just a toy too :P

Firstly give us a definition on what your definition of toy is. You can't just randomly call something a toy just "becasue it sounds more like one" If the wii is a toy, the 360 and PS3 is a toy no matter which way you spin it. They both do the same thing as the wii. Play videogames.

the games are already pirated. the fact is more people would be open to the wii if it had more memory.

That is a good start...for a console that is offering online for the first time in the company's lifetime. The other two have had a generation head start and much, much better. manningbowl135
