I see no mention of Japan. To say MGS sold under a million there is still stupid however.

SSBB is the reason why the wii outsold the ps3 by a large margin. the ps3 on the other hand had no (good) releases.

it's so stupid to compare sales numbers each week because it's heavily influenced by new releases.

it's the same with those people who freak out because the ps3 sales are on par with the wii.

the thing that makes me wonder is the fact that despite dominating the current console generation the number of decent titles on the wii is just as poor as on the ps3.

I think it's really funny how Gamespot points out in the title how Nintendo specifically beat Sony......but X360 is just a footnote in the whole article.

yeah for japanese sales. the ps3 did quite well overall (world wide) in the last two months. especially in europe it's doing quite well.

consoles sales differ from region to region. xbox 360 is weak in japan but strong in the us. you have to take a look on the whole picture.

Sony need good games to sell for people to wanna buy one!! Gran Turismo 5 is the only thing of intrest at the moment to me and many of the friends which i have.

(That i dont see this is true because Wii sales in europe starting to lack already and PS3 is goin up up!!)

Now about Sony copying Nintendo, i couldnt care less. Games its the only thing it matters to me and not controllers... I dont care about six-axis or twenty-axis.. As long as PS3 will have THAT library in the near future,ill buy one at once (this christmas for sure) and guess what... ALL my friends waiting to buy a PS3. But this is Europe so isnt something weird i guess.

If they really wanted that title to sound unbiased it should've read "Wii outsells PS3 4 to 1 and Xbox 360 24 to 1... again", but no they left out the part about the 360 figures and made a tiny footnote at the end of the article... When you word a title like they did it's going to seem like you're singling out Sony and conveniently leaving out M$ and any professional journalist would avoid that and try to seem unbiased...

the fact that sony had such a HUGE market share last 2 gens, but is now losing its market share to nintendo IS newsworthy.

sony having the same success over the xbox in japan is NOT newsworthy because we had enough of that last gen, there is no change.

the battle in japan is between the wii and ps3. why would they report on the 360 in the headline?

The one thing you are forgetting is marketing. I can make quite a difference. Look at Halo 3! If Sony feels MGS 4 is a system seller, they will up the marketing otherwise it will be a good/great game that sells some consoles I guess.

This is true in America and Europe... but not Japan. It might sell better then 3 did, probly not as good as 2.

Over all who knows... but japan... don't see it happening.

(Shipping more consoles than any other company in history isn't marketing, it's supply and demand. It's hard to claim falsified shortage when Nintendo is breaking every shipping record)

RE5 has gone backwards with going to the PS3 and Xbox 360 as the control system on the Wii is better suited for the new style of Resident Evil, Oh and by the way its not released till late 08 early 09! Call of Duty 4 was a good game but lacked depth in comparison to Socom series! SH5 is another good series but Nintendo has Fatal Frame. DMC is overrated and the previous Burnouts are much more fun than new ones!! None of those franchises have been groundbreaking since the orignals! Innovation on those games has been very little. MGS4 has not caught my intrest, GT5 is looking impressive but only due to bein capable of racing online against people. MGO looks good but heard that the game is slow paced in comparison to other online games. FF13 for the 1st time since 7 has caught my eye and Tekken i want so badly it hurts but i wont buy a console for 3 awesome games. With the Wii least i have impressive games of the likes of Metroid, zelda, Mario, RE:UC, Mario and Sonic at the olympics right here and now!! Getting games like ASH, FFCC, De blob, Fatal Frame, Monster Hunter 3, Time Splitters 4 (rumoured), Super Smash Bro Brawl, Alone in the Dark, Mario Kart in near future!

Your giving *TIPS* but the problem is you have proven you dont know really anything!! Keep advice to yourself! You dont know how the future is going to go but i know the present moment in time the PS3 is the weakest of all 3 consoles with there best games being also on the Xbox 360! When the PS3 can offer me something which will leave me spellbound as much as the Wii i will really consider buying one but till then its a waste of money! Serious though, comparing the Wii to the PS3, there is no surprised that the Wii has won every time. PS3 lacks games that the Japanese market is into. SO far, DMC4 was the biggest title for the PS3 over there. And with Brawl and Wii Fit out, it's no surprise that the Wii performed so well.

If the PS3 was being given away i could not see it catching Nintendo. Theres no quality games specifically for the PS3 theyre mostly Multi platform games. Sony should look at catching up with the Xbox rather than looking to catch up with the Wii.

Sure it may justify, but that is still my problem with the PS3. Even tho people exaggerate to hell the no games argument, the fact remains that I would not love the PS2 as much were it not for its huge pile of exclusive games. And I definitely had little interest in the multiplatform games for the PS2.

The only problem is that at this moment the PS3 is definitely not a PS2, even for its time. And the truth is that I'm already seeing the Wii surpassing what the cube couldn't do, wich is to not only have exclusive quality games towards the competition, while at the same time dare I say having a bigger ammount of them as well in comparison.
