Sure you have MP3, Galaxy and SSBB coming out but those titles were inevitable. What does Nintendo have in store for their consumers compared to what the other competitors have for their consumers? Quality 3rd party games? Any special multimedia features being added? What benefits do you wii owners get out of the wii outselling the other consoles? Last time I checked Nintendo as a company only benefits off of their profits, not consumers. How are they going to return the favor? Wiifit? :|

P.S. We are talking only about the wii and it's consumers here, so don't try and get out of my questions by asking me quetions. Stay to the topic at hand, I don't want to hear no "so what does the ps3 and 360 have to offer to their consumers" BS!

Don't know why I'm doing this, you can't win with sheep!

I dunno, the way you are treating all the responders, this seems like a loaded question. Why don't you just come out and tell us what you think the answer should be so we can give it to you.

The benefit Wii owners get from the Wii outselling the other consoles is continued Wii support by Nintendo and 3rd parties. More games, better quality games, more VC games, and so on. Did I get it right?

To be fair... Nintendo is putting more resources into making games than I have ever seen. 3 HUGE titles coming from them , 3 2nd tier games (Fire Emblem, Battalion Wars, and Endless Ocean), and a spin-off (Donkey Kong Barrel Blast) for the rest of the year.

Usually... Nintendo fans only get 1 huge title and maybe 2 2nd tier titles in the spand of a YEAR!! All of this, that I mentioned, is is in the span of 5 months. All from 1 developing company, WHAT MORE CAN YOU EXPECT! Not to mention this is just the Wii, they also have an entire Handheld section.

Simple economics state that as more titles hit the Wii market, those titles must strive for higher quality in order to differentiate themselves and attain customers. Competition breeds quality, and quality grows over time.

This is true of any market. I'm not sure why people think it differs in the console software market.

The laws of economics state this will be the case. This has been the case in similar situations in various industries thens of thousands of times in the past, including the industry the Wii is a part of.

It's a cornerstone of capitalist markets.

More console sales = more potential customers = more games. Fact. Stop assuming everyone is assuming. And you want everyone to answer your question when your post had like 3 questions in it, and everytime someone responds you add another question. I think you are just fishing now. Like I said, no one here can give you the right answer because your questions are loaded.

The wii is supposedly to be in a different market this time around, so how can we assume that more quality 1st and 3rd party support will come? Especially when comparing it to other consoles that had the most sales in previous gens seeing as how they were all after the same market as their competitors. This genNintendo, who said itthemselves thatthey are not competing with the other consoles, so they are obviously going to be doing a lot of things different and changing the trend of every console leader gets better support thanit's competitors.

Pfft... That "not in the same market" talk is nothing but marketing blustering from each camp. Sony and MS aren't dumb enough to not consider Nintendo as competition.

And Nintendo isn't dumb enough to not consider Sony and MS as competition.

Why do people always confuse 3rd parties with Nintendo? "Nintendo is terrible! It has no good 3rd party!" WTF!?!?!?

I know the Wii does not have good 3rd party, (though its better than the GameCube), but leave Nintendo out of it! They are using their money to benefit everyone. Out of the 12 Wii titles that we know about right now, only 1 is truely designed for Non-gamers, and that is Wii-Fit. The others? Mario, Metroid, Smash, Fire Emblem, BWii, Endless Ocean, Disaster, Animal Crossing, Project HAMMER, Mario Kart, and Donkey Kong.

Nintendo just bought out Monolith Soft. as I mentioned before, they are workiing on Disaster: Day of Crisis, and probably another new Nintendo IP RPG. Retro Studios has just finished Metroid Prime 3 and they are already at work on a new project. The team behind Zelda TP has been working on a new title for over a year now, and also... Phantom Hourglass is finished as well... guess that frees up more people for MORE games on Wii!

You guys act as if a game that is not announced is a game that is non-existant! Well... Nintendo has stated that they have over 40 titles in the works for Wii, and we know about 12 of them. They have slipped past us at E3 and now the Games Convention. Me thinks Nintendo will hold their own event since they are not going to TGS.

The benefit of the average consumer is knowing that they bought a popular system. Also, the average consumer benefits in knowing that they bought a system that is more like DVD than Laser Disc - ie. it's not going to go away any time soon. See, what's wrong with this argument is that you're confusing us, the "hardcore", System Wars Wii owners, with the "average consumer". The "average consumer" doesn't care what you or I think is a good or bad game - that's why Mario Party 8 or Wii Play are huge sellers. The average consumer probably isn't even aware of sales numbers. The average consumer - the average Wii consumer - only cares about one thing: that they're having family-friendly fun.

Just because they say it doesn't make it true. Its a game console, its in competition with other game consoles. Nintendo likes to try and change all the rules, with their "market disruptions" and "new gen, not next gen" talk. Its all just PR BS. Basically, they're trying to emulate Apple, and their "think different" slogan of the last decade. The Wii even looks like an Apple product.

It seems silly to outline what Nintendo has in store vs Sony and Microsoft. I think this topic has been hit on over and over in system wars. As far as quality 3rd party games, having sold more consoles than the competetion will hopefully improve this. Nintendo was severly hurting for quality 3rd party titles with the N64 and GC, the high sales of the Wii will likely turn this around. It's all about making money. Why would you not develop games for the console with the highest market proliferation?

Who cares about multimedia features in a console? I'd prefer it if companies would keep inane multimedia features out of consoles to help keep the costs down. I'm buying a console for games. If I want something to play DVDs, then I'm going to buy a device dedicated to DVDs. If multimedia is so important and cool, then why aren't game consoles replacing the whole she-bang instead of half-assing it? Why isn't it a radio, CD player, DVD player, equilizer, amp, surround sound, mp3 player dock, telephone, PVR/TIVO, clock, really everything you could need sans the display device and speakers? Why? Because a device dedicated to these features does a much better job than a console attempting to do the same thing.

As far as benefits we get, did you see the flyer that came with the Wii? The first million owners get free jackets. No, the truth is the biggest benefit we will likely recieve is better third-party support. For those of us who are happy with Nintendo's line-up hope to see 3rd party support at a level we haven't seen since SNES. It's a nice perk if it happens, but the main reason we bought a Wii is because we want to play Nintendo games.

I bought the Wii for 1st party Nintendo games. I'm not going to lie. So I could care less about the "average consumer".

Sales = big user base = more 3rd party support = more games = higher chances of good games = happy consumers.

Okay lets say Nintendo does get more support, that still doesn't benefit the consumer. For example, as I mentioned earlier EA and Ubi are supporting the wii but the titles they put out are crap. Now tell me how that's beneficial to the consumer? Why should devs spend time, effort, and money tocreate quality 3rd party titles when they can just make crap that will appeal to non gamer consumersseeing ashow they make up the majority of wii sales. It's all about quality, and I ain't seeing that!

[QUOTE="dracula_16"]The only thing you can do is assume that Wii will get better third party support. This hasn't been the case so far.nintendogamer6

It takes atlest a year an a half to make a quality game

And yes this guy is right, it helps 3rd party support

Indeed.

guess which console had the best 3rd party support last gen? Yes, it was the one with the least amount of sales.

Sales speak who's buying what, what's populare, and what's winning. This has effects both directly and indirectly on games.
