[QUOTE="WheresMyChippy"] Just because they say it doesn't make it true. Its a game console, its in competition with other game consoles. Nintendo likes to try and change all the rules, with their "market disruptions" and "new gen, not next gen" talk. Its all just PR BS. Basically, they're trying to emulate Apple, and their "think different" slogan of the last decade. The Wii even looks like an Apple product.

Oh wake up, now your going against their word because you don't agree with it. I'm sorry but I'll take the word of a company over some guy in a gaming forum. Besides if what you say is true then prove Nintendo wrong, show me how Nintendo isn't marketing towards the market they "said" they were after.
I didn't go against their words, what are you talking about? Are you trying to tell me the Wii is some extra special game console that doesn't count as a regular game console, and thus isn't in competition with other game consoles? So they have a lot of family friendly games, hurrah, so have other consoles. PS2 had TONS of games for casuals and families, but you didn't see them with commercials showing old people playing PS2.
Its just Nintendo's marketing slant. They're after the same gamers that the PS3 and 360 are after, but they're also more aggressively going after casual gamers. It doesn't magically put the Wii in its own category. Nintendo says it does because thats their PR BS. The same way Apple would like to make you think the Mac is more than just a computer. Its not.
