Technologically inferior to the PS3 and Xbox 360 by such a large margine as to make most of it's offerings laughable in comparison.

A lackluster online service.

A ridiculously gimmicky control setup.

No one outside of Nintendo can really make anything worth while on it. Which means most of todays big names focus thier attention else where. While that might change in the coming months do to the Wii's popularity with certain demographics ultimately developers will only look at it as an afterthought given the limited development potential.

Mario, Zelda and Metriod while awesome aren't going to be able to keep up (turns out there are only so many things you can do with a plumber).

And... oh wait, we are looking for reasons the Wii is great. hmm

Whats funny is you talk about power.

Isn't crysis playable on the 360/ps3.

umm......

Agreed. I'm a PC gamer and i just laugh at stupid 360/ps3 fanboys bashing graphics on the wii when their consoles are inferior compared to high end PCs. Besides, RTSs, FPSs and WRPGs belong to PCs. I love the wii because it's very unique and innovative. I've been a PC only gamer for 10 years and only the wii console appealed to me this gen. The only games i want from other platforms are MGS4 and FF XIII and nothing else. Multiplatforms such as CoD4 is better on PC. Can the traditional controller really be compared to the mouse/keyboard? i think not. the wii mote provided me the best console controls for FPSs with MP3.

Again there is more to performance here than just pretty looks. And again you can't compare a two year old system to a "high end" gaming PC, like everyone and thier grandma can afford to go drop $6,000 on a gaming rig anyway. Not that I am here to try and defend either the 360 or the PS3 against PCs (but by all means make a thread and lets have at it). I was originally here for satire involving a threadpraisingthe "awesometude" of the Wii.

In all honesty I have little against the machine. I really do begrudge the fact that Nintendo decided to chase after a new following instead of keeping current as I was in fact a big Nintendo fan pre Wii. I would have loved it had the thing been made with "next-gen" specs and cost $400, wasn't in the cards though. Heck I still havea GC hooked up to the TV with Twilight Princess still sitting in it.

At either rate, fact remains that the PS3 and 360 have better specs which is all I have been saying from the start.

Once u you said a PC costs $6,000 to make that shows you have no idea what you're talking about. The PC I built which has a 8800gt and Core Duo E6750 didn't even go over $1,000.

Absolutely! A really good gaming PC can bebuiltfor $800 these days, and will last you about 3-4 years until it's necessary to upgrade, which isn't that much more than a 360 if you take into account the 50 bucks a year for Xbox Live and the extra 10 bucks (at least) for 360 games.

That guy actually said 6000!?!? Was he talking abouta mainframe or something!?

I said a "high end" computer. Not "a computer that you can put together from scratch that will get you by with things like Crysis". Not that you can really argue that anyway as maybe high end to me means NASA mainframes. At either rate PC gaming isn't what this topic was about. And again by alls means make a "PCz r teh roxxor" thread I will happily argue with you till your blue in the face.

Oh oh let me try!

I... jeez this is gonna be tricky. To start, after that fist bit at the top it all becomes opinion but lets see if it can't be worked with anyway.

The minigame comment:

Other consoles' developers are producingentire cohesivegames, the Wii mean while is getting "Wario Ware" and Wii Sports. I for one am not even going to label these media devices "games" how ever more of a "cell phone software collection" or "what you might play in one of those old $10 hand held things you bought in the toy section at Walmart in the early 90s. Yeah, because "Scene It, 360 Edition" is the next epic and "Viva Pinata" was comparable to Deus Ex in scope, right? You seem to think that the only games available on the Wii are the mini-game collections you and all the other console fanboys love to bring up. Last time I checked, there were some outstanding "entire cohesive games" on the Wii, just like the others.

The kiddy comment:

Actually those games you listed are in fact the "kiddy" versions of comparable titles found else were. Manhunt 2/Condemned, No More Heros/NGS-NG2-DMC4, Medal of Honor/Call of Duty 4, Fatal Frame/Um... Actually I am just going to reuse Condemned here to, deal with it This one doesn't even make sense. What are you basing this on, graphics??? Because last time I checked, Manhunt 2 was rated M and it sounds like No More Heroes will be the same.

The simplistic comment:

I don't actually have to work to hard for this one as you just listed a bunch of mechanically watered down titles. Watered down, how? If you're talking about games like Metroid Prime 3, maybe it just seems easier since you don't have to fight with a crap dual-analog control scheme. There are no more hard games (except Contra 4), deal with it.

The online comment:

I admit I don't actually have a Wii, so all I can go on is a lot of he said she said but most of what they said isn't very good so far as the Wii's online service goes. Though I am sure if I googled it I could put something convincing up. I would've given you this one, but you were too lazy to put anything up here, so yeah. And you've pretty much discredited your entire argument here: if you don't actually have a Wii, how can you actually have enough experience with it to say ANY of this, let alone the online???

The graphics comment:

It in fact does have bad graphics. Super Mario Galaxy has proven you wrong. You can't say anything for this, Nintendo cheaped on the hardware and in a year or two it will just be that much more glaring. It isn't all about graphics but performance as well. It just doens't stack up. Sounds like somebody's got an inferiority complex towards the PC that he's trying to take out on the Wii.

The 1st party comment:

Yup Nintendo does have great 1st party development (no one is arguing that). It's to bad about the 3rd party support though... Why do I want to play yearly multiplatform titles again??

The Hardcore RPG comment:

Anything with the word "chocobo" in the title is not a hardcore RPG, I am truely sorry to be the one to break this to you. And while the Wii does in fact have some cool RPGs they can't compare in scope to any of the other consoles' offerings. The poster forgot Fire Emblem, one of the most insanely hard strategy RPGs on the market. Besides, there hasn't been a game in the past 10 years that can compare to the scope of Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy VI.

The sims comment:

Sheesh, I think the Wii is in fact the only console to have "sims" games and I for one do not envy it. See the "Viva Pinata" reference above.

The DLC commnet:

It... well yes you have DLC grats, so does everyone else. The 360 by the way lets you DL games from a variety of consoles, not just games from the Xbox. You REALLY haven't used a Wii very much, huh?

I find most of those games are in fact not approachable to me at least. I wouldn't be caught dead playing 80% of the Wii's library. This is the lamest comment yet. I've been playing video games since the Intellivision, and there hasn't been ONE SINGLE CONSOLE available yetwhere over 20% of the library is great. In fact, I'd put that number more at 10% (especially with the PS2. I'm not knocking it, there was just ALOT of rubbish out for it) Not because they are simplistically designed or have bright colors (most of that is actually in the 20% I would play) but because most of it is just not that interesting to someone with an attention span that out paces one of those "mini-games". Just don't play the mini-games, then!!!

  1. 1st Party games obliterates MOST games on 360, PC& PS3
  2. The Wiimote litererally gives me a good work out
  3. 3rd party support are original and unique and most will get SERIOUSLY better for the hardcore crowd.
  4. There's already a good variety of 3rd party support that will never ever ever get old and are extremely fun, more fun than what' on 360, PC, or PS3
  5. Simple, ease of use Online Interface and FREE
  6. The Wiimote will undoubtedly be THE STANDARD as a controlling interface for future consoles.
  7. The Wiimote has PROVEN itself as the most accurate input device on the planet, proving itself in ALL GENRES.
  8. The Wii hardware has proven to be the cheapest, MOST efficient, yet most affordable hardware to develope for. Games like Cruisin, MoH Vanguard, Soul Calibur legends, GT Pro Racer are proof what the Wii is SERIOUSLY capable of.
  9. Wii is 10-15x more powerful than the Xbox, PS2and GC. Cruisin' is proof of that.
  10. Wii is simply the BEST HARDCORE gaming maching on the planet. Hence the astronomical sales and the Top Quality games, both 1st party and 3rd party.

Hard to argue with that.

Just doesn't have enough great games, and my PS3 is yet to fall apart.

No new IP's :?

1) I can play Manhunt 2 and actually feel like a strangler!

2) It's my new favorite toy (which I only play about twice a year since 90% of the games are **** )!

dlind70

There are several new IPs from third parties like Red Steel and Ryman Raving Rabbids. But there are also new IPs from Nintendo like Excite Truck, Wii Sports, Wii Fit and Disaster: Day of Crisis.

I think he was talking about the fact that the TC post only listed Mario and Zelda and that is what I thought he was talking about.
